I went to bed early

but some kind of divine intervention got me out of bed to watch this. So freaking glad I did.

Grant Hill is totally the next MJ!!

yeah

happy to see the effort in the fourth quarter

I hope Amare killed that fool who was impersonating him for the past few games XD

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

He looked as explosive as ever

it was really fun to watch him play tonight.

I don't even think he was as "explosive" as he used to be.

He was ENGAGED and AGGRESSIVE. I don’t think we’ll ever see the Amare who used to do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r2JzsJOjRG8 , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUjo_DNqe8A , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmmmzVwNxxM , etc., but that’s okay! I just wanted the AGGRESSION back, and it was there tonight.

One more for old time’s sake: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S51YDMLtdWM

He was motivated

It wasn’t skill or health or anything. It just happens to be his “I’m effing doing it!!” games…

… which sadly, happens around twice a month.

i know duncan just got his season high tonight and shot really well BUT

did anyone else think we played pretty good D on him in this game? amare was all over him in that fourth quarter, and had that great poke away steal that led to the dragon leading the one-man fast break all the way to the hole. after that play, pop took duncan out for the night.

Amare's potential

wish to see another gorilla game on thurs. Dragic was simply amazing knocking down those big shots out hustling ginobli. god i hate ginobli… and mason jr… and…

by Larfleeze on Dec 15, 2009 9:26 PM MST reply actions

we need that on thurs

National TV….thats when we need it….but rarely get it

screw the curse. We got this!

stupid curse… thurs game is it on tnt? i think charles barkley is bad luck

I understand that sentiment

That's just Spurs fans being stupid

The Dudley 3 happened with > 1 minute remaining. It was still game time

The next possession there was a 7-8 sec differential between game clock and shot clock. Unless we volunteer for a 24sec violation, we had to get a shot up.

And we weren’t like doing 360 dunks or anything.

we also

nearly blew a huge lead and lost the game. why would they be pissed.

You can't take your starters out like that

with a minute or so. That’s a no-no for any coach.

It wasn’t exactly a blowout.

by gadogry on Dec 15, 2009 9:28 PM MST up reply actions

Yeah. But still

If my team lost I’d blame my team…

you know, unless there are obvious things like other team hipchecking your player into the scorer’s table at the tail end of the previous game which led to 2 of your starters being suspended for this game. Something like that.

so many great things about this game

all those great hustle plays that the suns WON. wow. i think the bench hustle that dragic and lou started has really been contagious on this team. it is so completely different to see a suns team build momentum (and quell opponents momentum) by winning hustle plays. here were a couple i saw.

-dudley being dudley and getting rebounds all over the place

-spurs deflect a nash pass, but nash saves it in midair by throwing it back in to our team. this happened twice

-nash taking two AWESOME and really well-placed charges to break spurs momentum. there was another charge he took, but it wasn’t as intentional

-amare RIPPING down offensive boards right in timmy’s face. he also went HARD against blair all night. even tho blair is stronger amare knew he had the edge in skill so he used that to dance around blair all night for five fouls

-Jrich not hitting anything but still being aggressive. this was really huge for us because he made the spurs play defense on him as opposed to letting them focus on other players. there was a play in the fourth quarter where jrich missed a layup that he normally makes (hope that hand gets better soon!), but then got his own miss. he put it up again and missed (again! got i hope that hand gets better), but then the rebound got tipped out. jrich dove for the ball along with blair, and blair ends up getting called for the foul.

-there was also a sweet, sweet play where the suns offense just didnt give up, getting offensive board after offensive board. i dont even remember if it resulted in a bucket or not; what matters is the effort.

YES GO SUNS!!!

*correction

second sentence should read: “the bench hustle that DUDLEY and lou started…”

you know another thing... we didnt blow a huge lead.

the spurs had a what ? 10 point run… i would expect that from a team such as them.

15 point run

Glad to see they pulled out the win.

I had to run to the store during what seems like an impressive fourth quarter.

by jburning on Dec 15, 2009 9:45 PM MST reply actions

Some comments on the win...

Dragic was great… but somebody above got it right… as a shooting guard. does this mean LB or Jrich may now become more viable as trade bait for a rebounder?

Dudley got about what 4 pts only? but he earned each and every single 30mins he played…

Nash… no surprise he comes up with this kind of game a lot

Amare… this should stop all “we should try to trade amare for bosh/ tyrus thomas/ etc.” talks for the next couple of weeks (including myself)…now if only we get at least 75% of this rebounding/ defensive effort from amare nightly.. or even just 2 out of 3 games…

if we can continue to play Goran as a combo guard then I'd love to move Rich for a defensive big man

Dalembert maybe?

I think we play Goran in both spots

and do a 3 man rotation at the guard spots

But if we do decide to trade anyone, we have to get back a good point guard from it, otherwise we’re trading down for nothing. And trading JRich, a starter, for a backup pg makes no sense. If we trade him for a defensive guard, it will only help if he shoots 3s, otherwise he wont fit in the offense.

We don’t need another big man. We may not have the best bigs, but Channing works well on the outside, letting Amare work inside. Robin off the bench gives us size, and he’s young.

So I doubt we move JRich and hope we don’t, unless we get a sweet deal.
