Phoenix Suns at Los Angeles Lakers, Dec 6, 2009 7:30 PM MST

Final - 12.6.2009 1 2 3 4 Total
Phoenix Suns 26 18 22 22 88
Los Angeles Lakers 29 25 33 21 108

Complete Coverage >

Star-divide

On their best day so far this year I am not sure the Suns are ready to beat the Lakers. We can hate on them all we want but they are now the best defensive team in the league with just a ton of talent, size and championship experience playing together.

Playing them again on the 2nd of a back to back in their house is just wrong. Blow out or not this game doesn't even register in my mind as far as evaluating the Suns.

..unless we win in which case all bets are off and we are throwing a major par-tay!

Other Links from Today

I really feel for Oden on this one. Just a horrific injury. The picture is gruesome. The Blazers were struggling with some turmoil already around Andre Miller and had already lost Outlaw and Batum. I think it is safe to say that this isn't going to be Portland's year to challenge for the West...

we did beat Boston in Boston

so anything is possible. still the Celtics are not the Lakers so I’m not holding my breath. Still, I good showing IMO-shooting around 50% and not getting blown out is good enough for me.

yes... agreed...LET'S NOT GET BLOWED OUT

I hate that the only thing we have to hang our hat on is spectacular shooting nights in order to win, but that is the state of affairs around Sun land

Expectations

Consider what we all thought would happen before the start of the year. This team is over achieving, but we still have some big gaps.

I agree it’s too early in the season to EVEN think about beating this team. The majority of the league is in the same boat as us.

What I’m really curious about is how we’ll perform against the Mavs, Spurs, Nuggets, etc. If we beat who we realistically should beat and manage some victories over the afore mentioned that could be the mark of a pretty darn good team (not that we aren’t currently)…It would help to get a schedule that isn’t totally insane that puts us at a disadvantage against the powers of the NBA before the game even starts.

We had an awful shooting night

Last night, except for some timely threes down the stretch. We can win ugly, sometimes.

Just Compete...

Like to see a good game of B ball, but like you said Stan, I am not expecting much. I would like to see Amare carry over into this game however, maybe even get a streak going where we see him eating glass a lot.

And it is just wrong that 2 times against the Lakers we play um off a back to back, but what yah gonna do?

man I hate feeling like this, but I'm kind of souring on sports because it's obviously

not an even playing field…Donahue basically said that the commissioner told officials to favor bigger market teams in the play-offs and help determine the outcome of games.

Clips crew is one of the best in the league, IMHO. YMMV of course.

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

im so sick of him letting starters rest the whole fourth quarter for blowout losses. i want a fight to the end.

+1, this game is still winnable IMO

Maybe

But right now the Lakers are in a league of their own. No one in the west is hanging with them. I think the Suns will do better with the Nuggets, Mavs, Spurs, etc.

Jason Richardson might actually be playing worse than either Nash or Hill on the 2nd night of back-to-backs. They all slide, but he seems to fare pretty poorly.

Let’s leave them so open they might psych themselves out and miss.

And I have a feeling it’s done.

Jared Dudley,

I don’t care how bad he’s been shooting, YOU DO NOT PUT THE BALL ON THE FLOOR when you’ve got a wide open J-Rich at the 3 point line in the 4th quarter.

Bad decision.

The Lakers Are Not Unbeatable

yeah i said it. they are good, but not unbeatable. they may have a good record, but just keep in mind how many home games theyve had. if all LA officiating is as biased as Ive seen tonight, then i attribute that as a major unfair factor of their success.

the suns are doing well. even if we lose this game, overall it seems better than the last time. we arent missing as many open shots as we were before and amare is playing very well, hitting those outside shots that everybody got mad at him for not taking last game.

Final thought

That was not an embarrassing loss. It was certainly a better showing than the Suns had against Cleveland or NY. And the Lakers are yards better than both those squads (sorry, ’Bron) and firing on all cylinders. I expect closer games against LA (though not necessarily victories) back in Phoenix.
