AAAAAGH

this game was SO winnable. no excuses here. this was a mental collapse and poor effort by the suns until the very end of the game. wtf happened to our defense in the 2nd and 3rd quarter?

by yanyanman2 on Dec 8, 2009 9:08 PM MST reply actions

ps

our offense and defense seem to be really tightly related. when defense is going, we make shots. when it isnt, we try to go iso on everything or turn it over. yeesh. cant we learn to play some D even when the O isnt there?

Losing streak

December has not been kind to us. Our offense is running out of gas.

it's not early

We need someone other than nash who can make a difference when the game is on the line. Everyone else play just fine against warriors, kings and clippers, but when it’s a bigger game they shy away. Amare and J-Rich are inconsistent.

We need another ball-handler in the lineup

Hill ideally is that guy, but we can’t put it on all a 37 year old dude, no matter how epic he is. We had it in JJ, we had it in Boris…now we’re missing it

i got a feeling… that tonight is not gonna be a goodnight. Its going to be a long cold winter unless the suns get their offense back. is it just me or were just running to many isos over the pick and roll. same play over and over.

We had the horses to put up 117.7 ppg w/ Shaq+Gentry last season

Replace Shaq w/ Frye and we should be scoring just fine IMO. Frye’s jekyll/hyde act on the home/road is really hurting this team.

Yeah I think after 21 games we can say that Amare is not what he used to be.

Which is okay, as long as he doesn’t demand max money….

I think some team will offer him max in the offseason

If they strike out with LeBeast, Wade, Bosh, then they’ll turn to Joe Johnson and Amare. If Miami can’t get LeBron or Bosh to join Wade, and they’re desperate to keep him, I can see them throwing max at him.

If(xenu forbid) this is just the start of a downwards spiral and we’re fighting for a playoff spot come trade deadline, then yeah, I think Amare is bye bye in Feb. If we make the playoffs and get owned early on, then Amare will most likely walk after we don’t give him max money. I just hope that we do a sign and trade this summer instead of letting him walk for nothing.

Playing afraid to lose

one of the great things early in the season was the WTF attitude that came w/ lowered (no) expectations. Next thing you know you are 14-3 and things heat up and suddenly Nash is playing 40 minutes and the bench is an after thought.

I know w/o LB it’s different but you can just sense the team get tight and Gentry reinforced that w/ his rotations. This very much felt like a D’Antoni coached game with only 7 guys used plus a couple of minutes for Robin

still

not a big deal. Spurs are at .500 right now and surely will come on strong. We can survive a rough December.

oh and the Blazers certainly aren’t going to be as strong as they appeared this summer and we already know the Hornets are are not going to be strong.

So we are right back where we started. Lakers and Nuggets are going to run away and then there’s plenty of room for us in that next tier

Better times will come

Coaching staff need to make adjustments. Come up with some plays. We can’t rely too much on the outside shot or pick and roll. Gotta play more in the post and penetrate.

there were some new plays and some different movement but there’s not been enough time to really get that settled in

Arg

Friggen Suns getting all my expectations higher than the stars and then pissing me off with lukewarm effort and offense these last 4 losses. Granted the Lakers and Cavs losses were expected, but seriously. It just feels like the Suns havent showed up for the last few games.

Perhaps it’s just me with drastically changed expectations than those i had before the season began.

We are still a very good team

but we need to make some adjustments offensively and our defense needs improvement. Seems like when Frye has a bad shooting night it takes a toll on the team. We can’t rely our whole offense on shooters. We need to come up with some different plays because we are becoming pretty damn predictible.

denver lost tonight

hooray…i guess. what the heck was with all those clutch threes at the END of the game? couldnt we have gotten into that mentality earlier? this reminded me alot of old suns games where we would be in the lead, lose it, then make a final rush at the end for a 50/50 chance of winning.

can the suns get a win against a quality team? can they summon up the heart and desire and WILL needed to do so? at a certain point, all of these intangibles can be more valuable than talent or skill. the suns themselves proved that to me.

well see.
