Medically there is hope?
It appears that some reading reveals that after a retinal detachment repair that often you can go back to work 1 to 2 weeks after surgery if cleared. Lets hope this is true for Amare. Even 4 weeks would be substantially better than 8. Anybody else have any information on exactly what procedure and severity of the injury so we could get a more accurate return date. I would think at 4 he has a good chance of returning and wearing some sort of protective gear. Maybe a face mask and bubble wrap?

But From what I understand:
He won’t be able to run and work for four weeks.
They upped the recovery time from 6 to 8 weeks after the surgery.
Hopefully he’s a freak of nature who heals incredibly fast, and has time to reflect on the the virtues of ocular safety.
+1 on ocular safety
I think the quick return to work would be true for a normal job, but when your job involves being a human pogo stick and getting bounced around off other human pogo sticks, you probably need to take it a little easier.
And there is the
conditioning aspect. He;ll be off of his feet for 1 or 2 weeks, and it will take him probably the better part of a week to get back to his regular level of fitness.
I sure hope we have a Wolverine for a PF and not a sloth.
