I remember...
Somebody in some response post indicating that we barely beat the Thunder. I just wanted to point out that the Terrible Thunder beat the SA Spurs last night. What a weird world we live in? Teams that supposedly suck can come out and beat a team held so high in standards. ... Just saying. It happens to all of us.
We realy are not that bad people. If we make the playoffs we DO have a chance to do something beyond going 0 - 4. Lets get behind our team as we sometimes have a hard time doing and root them on until we can't root anymore!!!!

finally an optimist. but don’t tell Stan ;)
Once upon a time the Suns got out on the break... and along came Steve sucKerr
Goodness people
We all would love to see the Suns make the playoffs, HOWEVER, when 4 of our starters can not and will not guard anyone, and we do not have the offensive pieces that we had last year, Bell, Diaw and Amare unless you call Lou, J Rich and Dudley better than those three. This team is not that good, what can you say.
You can get on us that look at the reality of the situation and call it like we see it, fine dog us. I have rooted and supported this team for 37 years and will continue to do so, but I am not going to get all juiced on a team that IF, and a huge IF, makes the playoffs and the Lakers beat are ass.
Oh, OKC beats the Spurs, and the Suns struggle against them, true, Last time I checked the Spurs will be going after another ring this year and our wonderful Suns are still waiting to be fitted.
"Have You heard of the Boom on Mizar 5?"
No you missed the point.
The point was the team going after the ring LOST to a team we just beat? We struggled against a team that beat a team that is in the race for ANOTHER ring? The problem I have with “fans” who like to be “realists” is that you try really hard to be so negative. At the same time you are scolding players like Nash for being negative and hurting the team. Have you not ever read any self help books? The Suns can’t win if we give up on them. I mean are you guys really this negative in life or is just when it comes to the Suns? If I had your outlook on things I would be a Drunken mess knowing that some day the world will end for some reason or another. Be negative on your own time. I want to be a real FAN and root my team on regardless of the circumstances. I can honestly see 90% of the people on this blog after next years losing season disappearing until the Suns start winning again. The worst part is that each one of them will leave having a similar post to what you just had. 37 years of negativity. No wonder we can’t win a championship.

Respect
It is important (I think) to understand, appreciate and respect that there are different ways to be a fan. As you touched on each person is unique and has their own personalities. Some (perhaps like you) are eternal optimists and that’s great.
No everyone is like that. Some of us are by nature more analytical. If all I got out of being a fan was cheering that wouldn’t satisfy me in the least. It doesn’t work for me. What I get out of this entertainment (always important to remember that pro sports = entertainment) is the satisfaction that comes from understanding the game and the team. Yes, I always root for a win and I get pretty darn excited about some of them too. But I also (and I suspect others here as well) can step back and be more rational.
Faith and hope only can take you me so far.
If you feel this site is too “realist” in nature and tone that’s fine. We appreciate and respect all voices and opinions but would also ask the same. There are other sites who’s writers share more of your outlook that you might feel more comfortable or you can always start your own blog. I would hope you would stay and continue to contribute since your view is a viable and valuable part of the fan experience just as is ours.

So it is the fans fault for lack of championships in the Valley
" Suns can’t win if we give up on them" " You are scolding players like Nash for being negative and hurting the team"
I really don’t think Steve Nash cares what I think about this basketball team, nor should he along with the rest of the team. There job, which they get paid quite well for, is to win games and hopefully enjoy it along the way.
I probably should of explained my 37 years as a fan better, of course I do not think explaining each individual year would be that interesting or productive. THIS year by far is one of most frustrating I have experienced being a fan, other than the “drug years” of Walter Davis and Mike Bratz, this year has been tough, and yes I have been tough on this team. I do believe justification is warranted, ( Sarver and Kerr) If you can’t see that this teams future is in trouble then you are watching a different game than me, and that is fine, you have your opinion I have mine.
And I live ( with wife and family) a rather cheerful, joyful and optomistic life, so the comment of self help books really is not necessary.

I just...
get tired of reading the same thing. The same post. The same old corn infested turd in a different gloomy bowl. We know the Suns chances of winning well… they don’t really have a chance, ever, regardless. 33 years of consistent attempts have yielded NO results. We know that every analysis shows a heartbreaking season for a club that already had a shattered heart. I get that. I’m as analytical as Stan is. I like the in and outs of numbers and what they actually mean. I know more about what they mean than most people care to know. But my optimism shouldn’t be shot down. Maybe nobody read my post about the fact that you can spin statistics in nearly any way you want them to sound. What I’m saying here and have been trying to say is that you can step back and be more rational with out the doom and gloom currently residing over all of our heads.
Grockcubs:
My post really wasn’t a personal attack on you or your opinion as it was more of a "Stop hanging your head Phoenix we have a lot to be proud of. "
" I'm going to root for the Suns when they are winning or losing, but when losing I will point and blame the failing economy on the Referees."- Me.
LOL, you have rooted and supported this team for 37 years
There are some players born back then that we are starting! Haha.
April 29, 2008 Total Eclipse of the Sun. Is the sky falling?
Thinking about it now...
I guess if I was around 37 years ago and had to go through even 33 years of almost being the team. I guess I would be a little negative too :|
" I'm going to root for the Suns when they are winning or losing, but when losing I will point and blame the failing economy on the Referees."- Me.
Yes
it started by your sign, Connie Hawkins. He was Dr. J before Dr. J, The 76 squad had no business being in the finals and got hot at the right time, Alvin Adams as a rookie and Rickie Sobers, Wesphal in his prime was a wonderful 2 guard. Colango at his finest putting that team together.
As I digress…
This off season will be an interesting one.
"Have You heard of the Boom on Mizar 5?"
antiw0rm, I agree. The negativity from fans are not helping matters
… and it may end up killing the enthusiasm of the team, especially since I think their egos and mental fortitube have become glass-like these days.
I covered it in an earlier thread:
http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2009/2/11/757014/the-problem-s-not-with-ama
Dun mind the rest of us here. Some people think it is ok to criticise everything but not when people criticise them back.
Let me bring this out again - MJ took 7 years to win with his team
We can’t even give this Suns team and its core players 4 years, esp since they almost knocked out Spurs in 07 barring the most stupid call by David Stern.
I dun see why Suns fans deserve any whiff of a ring.
We are as emotioncally soft as our team. No endurance or patience.
In trying times
You sometimes have nothing else left but to be positive.
" I'm going to root for the Suns when they are winning or losing, but when losing I will point and blame the failing economy on the Referees."- Me.
And to all the worshippers of "defense wins rings"
No offense but I have never believed that Barkely’s tough-minded Suns could win a ring, even when they were lucky enuff to make it to the finals in ’93.
Thanks Magenta,
now I feel my repressed “Paxson rage” returning.
"I can shoot with my left hand, I can shoot with my right hand, I'm amphibious"
Paxson? I feel sorry for the guy
I hope they turn things around in Chicago and they should with the promising young bunch they have.
