Where are they now? Gordan Giricek
When thinking of Matt Barnes (6'7", 226 lbs), I always think of Gordan Giricek (6'7", 222 lbs) first. Gordan Giricek was picked up by the Suns one year ago, on March 4th. He cracked the rotation and played a critical (if flawed) role as the 8th and last man off the bench. His play garnered praise from the normally grudging Phoenix Stan.
For much of the season, Barnes has reprised Giricek's role for the Suns.
Besides being of similar size, they are both streaky (and rather dodgy) shooters. They are called "shooters" not because they are particularly good at shooting, but because they are particularly willing to shoot. Barnes is the better defender and comes at a much cheaper price. Barnes also doesn't have the victim mentality Gordan harbors.
So for all the Barnes complaints this year, Barnes > Giricek in my book and to me that's full of win. You've never found a complaint here from me about Matt Barnes all year. And for the vet's minimum, you won't!
So. Where is Gordan Giricek? From NBA.com:
Update: Giricek signed a two-year contract with the Turkish team Fenerbache, ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Giricek has played six NBA seasons, but was limited to a bench role in the last two. He can shoot, but has come under criticism for not playing good defense and looking for his shot too much.
Is this in cards for Matt Barnes? Matt Barnes' birthday is Marh 9th. Happy birthday, man. I hope you like Istanbul.

I like Mr Barnes.
As long as he takes open shots and doesn’t force the double coverage shot initiating a -10 swing to give the other team the lead.
