Suns vs Grizzlies recap & Suns vs Timberwolves preview
It's Saturday and my world has gotten very busy as of late which coincides nicely with the rather early end to the Suns season.
Or to look at it another way, a very early start to the Suns 2009 exhibition pre-season schedule. That's certainly what we had last night in Memphis. Here's the proof:
- Nash and Shaq played less then 20 minutes each while Dragic and Lopez each had over 20 minutes
- Only one Suns starter was in double figures
- 22 turnovers...actually this was the 8th time this season the Suns had 22 or more turnovers so perhaps this isn't a good indicator or pre-season sloppy
- Lou Amundson tied for team high score with 13
I am not going to bore you with the details since clearly at this point in the Season of Fail you or I really don't care (and to be completely honest I watched maybe 15 minutes of this game and couldn't bring myself to ignore Mrs. Stan and slog through it on Tivo later in the evening).
There is a lot of interest however in what comes next and by that I don't mean tonight's battle royale in Minneapolis where if we are lucky a guy named Kevin Ollie will be the starting point guard.

hmmmm
let’s see. I can finish my taxes tonight or watch the Suns / Twolves game….tough call
Blogging Suns Basketball
Started/finished my taxes today
Actually, my sister did hers and then mine (TurboTax). Getting a decent amount back in a refund. Just wondering why I am so lazy and waited so long. Considering I will be sending all the money to pay off a credit card, I should have done the return back when I first got my W-2.
Go Suns, D’Backs and Coyotes. Strange that all three teams have games at the same time.
Wow, this game thread is dead
Can’t blame anybody though… It’s difficult to care about such a game after this dissapointing season
My body might be in Greece, but my mind and my heart is in Arizona. When the heck will I visit the Desert?
I just got home.
How’s things?

Drew Gooden.
Starters dominated to start the game
31-8 after the first… The rest of the game, we were up by at least 12ish or more. Bench saw a lot of minutes tonight, as they should have.
Well we won...
Steve and Shaq once again dominated offensively with 4 and 10 points respectively. Hill had 19 which is nice. Overall it looks from the boxscore like it was a team effort to pull this one out. Nice to get a win though. Bit of a recovery from last night.
Taped the Suns game
and gave up on the whooping LA putting on the D’backs, so now I’m watching the Suns. I plan to enjoy watching the bench guys get some serious minutes.
This game helped me appreciate our team...
This is a playoff team. If Amar’e doesn’t get injured we’re in the playoffs. If we play under Gentry the whole year we make the playoffs. When healthy we’re absolutely loaded from 1 to 5. This is a great team and we take them for granted.
Watching the bench log heavy minutes is great, but it’s obvious only LB and maybe Dudley could be starters on a so-so team. Without going into great detail, I’m just trying to say we shouldn’t take these guys for granted. These last couple games might be meaningless, but they might also the last time we see Steve or Shaq in a Sun’s jersey.
All I ask for
is that our leadership go back to the run n gun. It worked, it was fun, it drew fans, it made money. Even if it didnt win us a championship, it was enjoyable to watch.
1st step: Do not trade Amare. Build the team around him. Beyond that, think smart and build the way the Colangelos did. You will make money and we will be happy.
