Random thought:

I’m half listening to the Cavs-Spurs game, and there was a commercial for something called Flomax, which apparently helps guys pee more, or less, I’m note sure. One of the side effects was decrease in semen. Do you think that’s a worthwhile trade off?

Van Gundy+Jackson=worst commentating duo ever.

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." let me thank Nash

for his service for the last 4 years. but this is it. this is the end of his brilliance as a Sun player. let him go somewhere else.

also, bless Grant Hill for being able to play every game in a regular season. too bad this is the season with the playoff.

by sonicking on Apr 5, 2009 2:43 PM MDT reply actions

Say bye bye to the Suns as we know it

After today, the talks of a compelte overhaul will begin. Who knows WTF are team will look like next year. Time to bring in the youth so we can have some hope again. Even if it takes years.

by bradley281 on Apr 5, 2009 2:44 PM MDT reply actions

if Kerr/Sarver weren’t idiots they could bring back a good team next year. They have tradeable assets. If Kwame’s expiring can bring back Pau then I’m sure Shaq’s could bring something good back, Nash is valuable and so is Amare. I’m sure they will find a way to screw it up though.

by bradley281 on Apr 5, 2009 2:46 PM MDT up reply actions

Not that easy

Shaq’s contract isn’t as easy to trade as Kwame’s since it’s so huge, and LA gave up 2 first round picks, Marc Gasol (easily a top 10 rookie in a deep, deep rookie class), and Crittenton who turned into another first round pick for Memphis. Even then, the only reason LA got that deal is that they were the only team willing to go into luxury tax land.

by Worthy J. on Apr 5, 2009 2:51 PM MDT up reply actions

He'll have value

I’m just saying don’t expect to get a player of Pau’s caliber, especially at the pg or center positions. And the Suns will probably have to take back some bad contracts to make the money work, the last thing you want as a rebuilding team.

by Worthy J. on Apr 5, 2009 2:58 PM MDT up reply actions

Also

In this recession, with the luxury cap being even lower next year, the likelihood of someone taking on shaq’s contract is not great. Could happen, but makes it more difficult.

by ArizonaCactus on Apr 5, 2009 2:53 PM MDT up reply actions

They’re the only guys that play adequate defense. Hell the only guys still with the team next year.

by stampchez on Apr 5, 2009 2:56 PM MDT reply actions

.My opinion of Steve Nash

Steve Nash has been a warrior for the Suns. Over the last four years, and many times this year, he has been the only player on our team that seems to put in maximal effort. We all know about his defensive shortcomings, but he tries to make up for that with his offensive skill set.

here is my concern, however.

He doesn’t seem to care about winning, per se. He seems to love competing, and by that I mean, he seems to enjoy getting down by a few points and then trying to mount the comeback. For example, reference the quotes where he talks of how a championship doesn’t mean that much to him, but simply playing as part of a team as well.

I know this will be considered blasphemy by most of the readers here, and I love Nash as a player, but I don’t think that you win a championship with him.

That being said, since we are nowhere close to winning a championship anytime soon, I say we try to bring him back next year, since he still is the most entertaining player (LB close second) to watch on our team.

by ArizonaCactus on Apr 5, 2009 2:59 PM MDT reply actions

"a championship doesn’t mean that much to him"

I think Nash said this only after realizing he may not win a championship with all the injuries and suspensions in the past few years…

In a way, I feel the same way. I mean…in my life, there are many things not going to my way. So I have learned to have my own definition of success, given so many other things are not within my control…

by sonicking on Apr 5, 2009 3:05 PM MDT up reply actions

to clarify, i don’t think that winning a championship defines a player as a ‘success’ in the way nash would define ‘success’. Nash has made every player on his team much better. Players that independent of him clearly wouldn’t have been nearly as good. So i don’t mean to suggest that Nash isn’t/wasn’t a great player and overall my favorite player of the last 5 years to watch.

by ArizonaCactus on Apr 5, 2009 3:10 PM MDT up reply actions

My expert analysis

Keep LB GH and some of the role players, and get rid of everyone else and try to get blake griffin. Acquire some picks and come out a few seasons from now a transformed team

by IrrationalAgent on Apr 5, 2009 3:02 PM MDT reply actions

griffin is like

amare.
but amare has better j’s and fts.
so id rather have stat than blake.

by CCArvin on Apr 5, 2009 3:06 PM MDT up reply actions

yea but i think blake cares more about winning, and has a better work ethic

and besides amare couldnt shoot all that well when he entered the league either

by IrrationalAgent on Apr 5, 2009 3:09 PM MDT up reply actions

I think Amare has an underated work ethic. he has improved significantly his outside shooting, free throws, etc. Unfortunately, he hasn’t put the same effort in to getting better defensively. I remember thinking when he had that block against Duncan in the playoffs against San Antonio like 4-5 years ago, that he would be a defensive stopper. I was wrong

by ArizonaCactus on Apr 5, 2009 3:12 PM MDT up reply actions

I’m guilty of ragging on him but when I do stop and think about it, the man has significantly improved areas of his game not to mention coming back from microfracture surgery.

by Worthy J. on Apr 5, 2009 3:15 PM MDT up reply actions

He's improved his jumper, most definitely.

But he’s REGRESSED on defense and on the glass, if that’s possible.

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. by rsavaj on Apr 5, 2009 3:16 PM MDT up reply actions

I think Amare needs motivation. You put him on a team with LeBron or some other dominant personality that won’t accept laziness, then I bet you would see a different player, defensively.

by ArizonaCactus on Apr 5, 2009 3:20 PM MDT up reply actions

That might be true, but it's indicative of a larger problem.

A 26-27 year old grown-@ss man should be self-motivated.

This season the most unbelievable things have happened...

ME

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

I think everyone who watched the Suns in the year Amare was gone knew that Boris was a great player when Amare wasn’t on the team.

by ArizonaCactus on Apr 5, 2009 3:16 PM MDT up reply actions

He was a good player even when Amare WAS on the team.

That’s what I’d been preaching from the beginning of the season, and his inclusion in the trade is the main reason as to why I hated it. The Richardson deal is worse than the Shaq deal.

meant to say Boris was a great player and even more valuable when Amare’s not on the team….

HOW IS THAT A FOUL ON BARNES?

Dirk lowered his shoulder into him and then faded away!

I am glad.

This group has no right to make playoffs. Biggest game of the year and they come out playing like this. I only wish that I could go to the last home game and just throw all my suns gear on the court.

This is just the way sports work, success is never guaranteed. Let’s just hope for a brighter future and cheer for our Suns

It’s getting late here and can’t stand watching this… Not to mention I’m tired and need to sleep… Have a good afternoon everyone

I will always be a suns fan but lets face it

this particular configuration is through. Even with Amare we are a 5, 4 seed at the MOST, which still doesn’t justify (in sarver’s mind) being this far over the cap.

If we had won at Utah and Sac-town, this loss would be much more manageable...

i long for the days of jerry c.

i mean, we have as an owner who is a banker heavily involved in the subprime, mortgage-backed security, and credit default swaps that have helped ruin our economy and we expect him to be able to make good ownership decisions over an nba franchise?

i hope sarver goes bankrupt. and i hope steve kerr learns quickly that he’s way over his head….

The New Orleans Hornets are getting served by one of the league’s worst road teams in the Utah Jazz. Buzzer-beater vs. the Kings, dogfight against the Clippers, now this against the Jazz at home where they’re supposed to be good. What’s going on in the Crescent City?
