There are two types of business owners. Do you want to win or do you want to save money? Period.
When asked which one Suns Managing Partner Robert Sarver was, O'Neal said: "I'm not sure. The guy over here (Dallas owner Mark Cuban) spends money. I don't think he's really worried about the salary cap. I've been around 17 years and that's what it is. You either want to win and don't really care about the salary cap or you want to be under the salary cap.
I have to say that I see it from Sarver's perspective. He's paid the luxury tax for years now and not won. This season Kerr hires Porter which was a bust. You had players that didn't give Porter a chance which was a bust. Now you've got Shaq wanting Sarver to spend even more money?
Would you spend more money on this team? And by more money I mean like $12m in luxury tax to keep this group together.

It will be a lose lose situation for fans..
Either way he goes people are going to get angry about something, there will be the people who think we are tarded for still paying over the cap, and those that believe we should blow up the team rebuild and lose salary.

Unless Shaq is willing to put his money where his mouth is..
do a Tim Duncan, and take a pay cut so that we can get better players, then he needs to sftu. Sorry, love the guy, but his $20M/year contract hasn’t helped to get us in the playoffs.

Not to beat a dead horse
But Sarver signs the payroll checks, he knows what he got himself into. I will be damned to feel sorry for an owner.
They freaking jacked up all the No. 1 picks for money, makes a trade knowing that Shaq was on the books for 40 million, push aside Joe Johnson for what, 5 million over 6 years, had to dump Kurt Thomas becasue of his huge salary, had to dump Brian Grant ( why they took on that salary only God knows) becasue of his huge salary ( good-bye Rondo).
Sarver has always been about money. Has he wanted to win, yes, but his approach to success has sucked.
If the Suns were to trade, who would take Shaq’s contract? NO ONE.
Nash and Amare probably have value, but with Kerr and Sarver making the call will the Suns get value back?
Kerr needs to be fired, who to bring in, I don’t know, but Kerr needs to be removed.

+1
Kerr needs to be removed.
if he can take the West’s best team to become its 9th best, please do not expect fans to believe that he has what it takes to reverse this losing trend.

2nd best
always to the Mavs in the regular season, to the Sp*rs in the playoffs and to the Lakers in the division after the Gasol trade
Whats up doc?

To be fair, the Rondo pick was not Sarver’s fault as Mike D’Antoni said he would not play Rondo.

Grant
They did not take on Grant’s huge salary. Most of that was being paid by his former team under the amnesty rule. The Suns had Grant for part of the MLE, I think it was $2 million. That’s why I could not understand why they gave up picks to get rid of him. That move was almost as bad as the Thomas move.

he'd be a nice compliment to Kidd
on the shuffleboard court. Doubles! Seriously – Cuban is pretty nuts. You never know

Shaq+J-Rich for Howard+Dampier+Bass
Maybe add Stackhouse to make the salaries work, then cut Stackhouse.
Saves us money/gets rid of the malcontent and the moron, gives Dallas two upgrades at key positions. Then maybe try to sign Marion for the MLE…
Nash
Howard
Marion
Amare
Dampier

Seriously
if thats what you want go rent yourself a 2004-2007 season dvd and watch……
the above lineup without Mike D’Antoni as coach will still suck

Doesn't add up...
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine
Bass is a free agent this summer so he can’t be traded. JHo and Damp combined make $21.5 while Shaq and JRich make $33.2. The Mavs need to add $6m to the deal to make it work. I don’t think Bass is worth that much. Throw in Stack and it works but the Suns only save $4.7m and are stuck w/ Damp for an extra year and injury prone JHo and Stackhouse.
Damp is horrible. Suns fans would hate him.
In your scenario you then give$6m to Marion so you’ve increased payroll by $2m.
The Suns are MUCH better off dealing with a team under the cap so they can clear space and get back picks. Why saddle yourself with older guys that aren’t going to make the team better? Damp and JHo. Really?

Seriously,
I don’t mean to be rude, but get over Marion. His stints in Miami and Toronto have shown how overrated he is and how foolish the Suns would have been to give him the money he asked for a few years back. You might as well pine for Antoni to get his job back. The reality is, neither of them will be back, so if you really want to see Marion in a Suns jersey again, get a DVD on the old Suns team as RottPhiler suggested, or head over to YouTube.
And do you honestly, seriously think JHo + Ericka Dampier > J-Rich + Shaq? I mean, are you dead serious?

Here’s a link, too.
Shaq partying all night before the game?
Here’s some more internet rumor-mongering, too.

Unbelievable....
How is it that these players are out partying the night before a big game. I read that Shaq was out in a night club spotted around 1 am before the Dallas game. No discipline. That sort of thing just shows that they do not care. Makes me want to run up and kick him in the nuts wearing a steel toe boot while standing on a 4 ft ladder.

First signs
Get ready Suns fans, looks like this might be the first sign of Shaq getting ready to cut ties. He’s done it with every other team he’s been on; I didn’t think he’d do it so fast here but he must really be feeling his mortality. I hope for your sakes that I’m wrong and this will all pass by quietly next year.

I think your right
I can see that. Shaq has had enough of the valley, he wants to move on. Seems about right. The future of the Suns is not the brightess. The toughest part is trading Shaq and all the coin he is owed.
