A Prayer for DeJuan Blair

Here's to hoping the Suns can trade up or Blair falls down to number 14. He's a perfect fit for the team. And here's also hoping the Clippers trade away the #1 pick, so that Griffin doesn't have to waste his career with that shithole team.

i think this is the year of the PG, hopefully we end up with another pick to take someone like Blair or Earl Clark.

I would say either Earl Clark or Eric Maynor

DeJuan Blair reminds me of Malik Rose, or best case Paul Millsap, which isn’t bad, but at the end of the day, Blair is just gonna be a journeyman role player. But I do believe he will be better than Chuck Hayes.

I think, at pick 14, he’s the player the Suns need. He’s not going to be more than a role player (or at best, a consistent starter), but I don’t think I see any all-stars at our pick and we need someone who loves rebounding.

He would perfect for a slow Eastern conference team, like the Cavs, but he wouldn’t fit in the Suns system. He would sit and rot on the bench behind Amare and Lou. If they can’t get Eric Maynor, Earl Clark, or someone else to drop to 14, then they may want to trade down to later in the 1st round, and see about picking up a first round pick for next year too, since they don’t have one.

Not a fit. Not athletic enough. Only matches up well with a few guys. He would have no chance against the Dirks, Duncans, and Gasol – all are way too tall, way too crafty.

I starting to like Flynn more and more, though. He’s got talent, and he uses it well. He’s an adequate backup, and play in a smaller lineup with Barbosa and Hill so he doesn’t have to be much of a distributor. His weaknesses (jump shot, experience) are Nash’s strengths, so maybe he can learn some???

I also like Sam Young – an athletic wing who can play defense. I like to see him as a poor-man’s Shawn Marion. Dunk like crazy, can rebound, efficient, strong defender, decent outside shot, questionable shot-creating ability.

My prayer? Draft Flynn at 14. Trade 48 pick and money for 23-30 range pick and get Sam Young. Draft a high(ish) upside big man like Josh Heytvelt with 57, maybe.

Blair

has a 7’ 2" wingspan. To compare, Noah has a 7’1" wingspan. Blair will be a perfectly productive big man in the NBA.

As far as having no chance against Dirk, Duncan, or Gasol, I would say, well, yes: but who does? To say that a player can’t guard three of the best big man scorers in the league doesn’t mean he can’t be a quality player. Maybe a handful of guys can guard those guys.

As far as Flynn…well…he wouldn’t have a chance against Parker, Williams, or Paul if that’s how we’re looking at things.

Holy Shit

7’2" wingspan. That’s impressive. That said, I think Flynn has a better chance of becoming a starter, than Blair who still comes across as a productive role-player at best. His skill-set doesn’t really “fit” anywhere. I still like Flynn more. And I like to see Amar’e as someone who will have a huge year, offensively, be beast defensively, and re-sign. A little bit of stretch, I know, but whatever.

I’m still all for drafting Blair.
