Around SBN: Explaining Jeremy Lin's Early, Surprising Success

They asked Amare is he was interested in playing in Atlanta. Amare said he's a big Braves fan but they really didn't press the question at all and left it there.

I've always thought that Atlanta was a place Amare would want to play but you can't really put him on the same team as Josh Smith.

Would you trade Amare for Smith straight up? Josh is signed to a pretty reasonable deal through 2013 and is a better defensive player but not nearly as talented as Amare offensively.

No. Please, no. Really. No. Thank you. No. Seriously. No...

What happens if you invite a player who does many things well, shoot 3’s poorly but love to shoot them anyways, to a team who encourages shooting 3’s?

A Suns fan died this year every time Matt Barnes shot a 3, and he shot 34.3%. Josh Smith is 29.9% for the season, 27% career. Add a big dose of the knucklehead factor and we have a recipe for disaster.

With the 14th pick of the 2009 NBA draft, the Pheonix Suns select... 3 million dollars!

Oh, and Amar'e goes to Atlanta

I don’t think Joe Johnson is exactly welcoming him in open arms.

STAT for Smith?

We complain about Amare’s lack of Basketball sense, then talk about getting Josh Smith? He is like Antoine Walker. Walker destroyed the Mavs with his doggone 3 point shooting. He basically shot himself out of the league.

‘Toine got a ’chip, and we got none! That ain’t right.

Yup

this has always been the problem for me w/ Amare to Atlanta. It works for them and Amare would be happy (at least for about 6 months) but they’ve got nothing they can (or would) give back. You can’t put Amare and Josh together on the same team. I don’t even thing the Hawks are that dumb. I would love Horford but I don’t see them doing that and the numbers don’t work. Zaza is a free agent. Joe Johnson isn’t going anyway.

It just doesn’t work unless you get another team in the mix
