Looks like Amare is going in 2010, sounds like he isn’t getting the max he wants and probably going to New York for the money that they MIGHT give him and probably some marketing opportunities to expand his brand.

What a douchebag.

Trade him. Seriously. Turns 27 soon, doesn’t play any defense, doesn’t rebound the damn ball, has a huge ego, has bad knees, an effed up eye, and will need MF surgery again pretty soon according to his doctors. We’ve stuck with him through thick and thin; got KT for him, got Shaq for him, and now he keeps lobbying for ATL and NYK. Let him go…we don’t need a player like this on our team.

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

THAT...

was the best post about why we should trade Amare that I have ever read.

I would have no issue in trading

Amare, I think this is the best time to let him go, Get a No. 1, and two serviceable players. Just get it done.

Nice

Ok what you just said pushed me over the edge. I have been an Amare fan for a long time. The guy can be sick on the offensive. All this talk about Amare being traded I have ignored and spoken out against but your succinct summation of the issue really influenced me. The problem is, I don’t want to let him go for nothing. I want to get back Bosh or something equivalent in return. Even a #1 pick isnt enough. The guy is all ego. He didnt even sit on the Suns bench for more than a game at the end there. Cmon Amare. I still think we should keep him for the year just to see if he gets better under Gentry, but you may be totally right about him. We gotta cut the cord sometime. And 27??? Didnt realize that.

Go read a book!

should have kept kurt thomas.

the ego issue would not be the same problem. and kurt was the exact type of relief the team needed when amare. and they could even be played together. losing kurt thomas hurt the sun so much it’s not funny. shawn marion was great. but barnes and grant hill certainly were able to spell marion. i’m not saying amare’s time has not come and gone. it has.

but this team was on target to really accomplish something. and got derailed one too many times by management, not by players and coaches.

I don't know

that I have that much of a problem with Amare, but if he’s going to walk the Suns could definitely get more for him than the cap space from him not picking up his option.

Let’s hope Kerr has his realist hat and knows that Amare, if he’s going to walk, will have less value in February than he will this summer/early Fall.

To make things worse

Other teams now know that he wants to sign w/ the Knicks or Hawks, so no one will offer much for a one year rental

Amare just torpedoed his trade value.

Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." I can't possible see

Amare co-existing with D’Antoni

or

Amare co-existing with Joe Johnson … It ain’t all peaches and cream, you know.

Mmmmm ... Guinness

Maybe

if you put all three together in NY they’d be so upset that it would 180 into settled contentment. You’d probably have to add Marion and Terry Porter as well.

Exactly

Amare on D’Antoni don’t get along and that’s as much from the coaches side as anything…

Amare will say anything to anyone that asks the right question. He’s in ATL – loves it there. In NY – big fan.

He also said he wants to stay in Phx but who knows which is accurate. Who knows.

by Seth Pollack on May 29, 2009 2:13 PM MDT up reply actions

indeed.

and not for nothin, but i know i would have differing emotions and opinions if i were in his position too. (pause). he is a person too. it’s ok to treat him like one. i bet if he stays the rest of his career in phoenix he would not have many regrets. and he would always work toward helping the team. just my opinion.

by stingy d on May 31, 2009 9:05 PM MDT up reply actions

Idk

We need value back for him for sure. On KTAR, they were suggesting a trade to the Wizards, but only for Caron Butler and a couple young players. When the idea of also getting their pick was suggested, Gambo and Ash made it sound like we didn’t need their pick.

Thats dumb. If we trade to Washington, then we have to, have to, have to take that pick. If Kerr or any of these scouts were smart, they would see that Brandon Jennins is a guaranteed all-star. Remember years back, Dwayne Wade went with the 5th pick. I think Jennings will be that calibur of a player.

by Funky Flapsack on May 29, 2009 4:13 PM MDT reply actions

I would do either Wizards trade.

Getting their pick would be ideal, but I’d trade Stoudemire for Caron Butler, Nick Young, and JaVale McGee.

by jburning on May 30, 2009 7:15 PM MDT up reply actions

Although ...

I don’t really get why Caron Butler was mentioned. Seems like the Wizards would prefer to unload Antawn Jamison in that trade. I’d turn it down if it were for Jamison. He’s good, but his contract is loooooong, and he’s old.

by jburning on May 30, 2009 7:21 PM MDT up reply actions

Not sure about Jennings...

being the next D-Wade, but I won’t oppose the pick. And if they get Butler back in return, that would solidify the SF position for the next few years. But I think they should try to work a deal with the Clippers for Blake Griffin.

Phoenix has to be the stupidest sports city ever

Please trade Amare so i can like another team and stop listening to idioitic fans

by Teske22 on Jun 1, 2009 10:00 AM MDT reply actions

teske22

i agree with you trading amare would be the most ridiculous thing we ever did since getting rid of barkley…we can not get anything back close to his talent or value sign the extension re-build with the forward of the future or watch him get rings in another city believe that

And Thats Real!!

by MrSunsRealDeal on Jun 11, 2009 3:21 AM MDT reply actions

The question is

“Is Amar’e worth the Max contract he is asking for?”

For the record i agree with you that he should stay as the centrepiece and future of the franchise and once he proves he is as good as he was before the eye injury, then we should offer a Max contract for him.
