Trade Proposal From a Blazer Fan
What would it take to get Nash?
Sorry if you don't like trade proposals from opposing teams' fans, but it's nice to get some fresh perspective.
Here's my trade proposal:
Nash for Blake + Outlaw + #24 + #32 + #55 + #56
Personally, I think Nash would fit great as starting PG on the Blazers for a couple years while mentoring Bayless. Many Blazer fans think that Bayless would be need to be inserted for Blake in order for Phoenix to do a trade like this, but what do you think? You have a lot of picks there that you could play with, and Blake and Outlaw have non-guaranteed 1 year deals at 4 Mil each, so they come at a good price.
From what I've read,, the Blazers would have to match $13.1Mil for this to work, and if I'm not mistaken we can overpay $3Mil in a trade? So I think it'd look like this...
$4Mil + $4Mil + $1.1Mil + $7Mil (Cap Space) = $16.1Mil
So what do you think?

Gotta send Bayless back
He’s from here, so fans here can accept that trade

Yeah.
I think Bayless would have to be a part of it. Blake and Outlaw probably isn’t enough in terms of established talent coming back, and seven draft picks this year (four in the second round) almost seems like too many picks, as strange as that sounds.

And Nash isn't a good fit in Portland
I’ve discussed this at length with Ben from Blazers Edge. Nate McMillian runs a highly controlled offense at a very slow pace. This is not only how Nate likes to play it is also Brandon Roy’s preferred style.
You think Nash was unhappy in Terry Porter’s system? Think how much he would be stifled in Portland when they emphasize controlled pace and defense.
Oh, and yes Bayless would have to come back and that’s way too many picks to try and trade

yeah stan but its all about who is doing what
look at rudy, he doesnt fit nates style at all bad defense gambles alot on d actually and runs and chucks threes alot. certainly not a slowpaced controlled player but willing to make an exception for rudy, i think he would do the same for nash

I don't think the numbers work here
but it’s hard to say until we know the cap.
But I would guess that any scenario in which one team nets five players is unlikely especially when that team already has nine other players under contract, another it is sure to sign (Hill), and three other picks to use. If you’re counting that’s 18 ballers.
I do have to say I would love a draft in which the Suns (or really any team) had six second round picks. The Suns could just draft the Panathinaikos starters and sixth man and have the Euroleague champs be their second unit. Fun.

That would be a sweet second unit
Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

mmm.... can't have bayless back...
it’d be the only reason (other than nash being that awsome) to do the trade, we need him to mentor bayless or so say’s the ancients.
