booooo…
I just have a question. Now dont jump all over me but im just curious, Im sure he will be gone by the 14th but if he fell would suns fans go insane if we drafted brandon jennings?
Now i know everyone has doubts on his attitude and what not but i mean, he went to Oak Hill and that is in the middle of nowhere after moving out of southen california when he was already a phenom, he went to Oak Hill to improve his game. Guys with character issues dont do things like that.
Also I read an article by Chad Ford about Jennings experience in Italy, and yes he didnt put up amazing numbers, but he also didn’t get much playing time. But reports do say that he busted his ass in practice but couldn’t get used to the European game which is understandable since he was taught such a different way and he is only 19 at the time. Secondly his trainer said he is built to play in the NBA and not Europe, Obviously, but he also said that if Lebron James came to Europe to play out of highschool they might have ruined him, becasue the NBA and EURO game are so different.
In closing, no I dont have a crush on jennings, but the talent is undeniable. I just want to know if Suns fans would freak out if we drafted him??
No day but today
Jennings is a poor mans Stephon Marbury...
take that as you wish… but I fear Jennings suffers from a terminal case of boneheadedness.

begs the question that has Europe already ruined Jennings since he came to play straight out of highschool
Whats up doc?
No, it doesn't matter he went to Europe
if anything, it should have toughened him up & matured him. Clearly, that hasn’t happened.

Stan, aren't you worried about his big toe?
for such a little guy, he dosn’t seem that tough. Could be cause for concern considering the physical nature of the NBA. (Sorry just looking for a rotten tomato to chuck).
Meh...
I’ll support you on Lawson, but I’m worried about him defending Chauncy Billups, Deron Williams, and other larger PGs. I’m not worried about his durability, he is a tough little guy. I just think we can ride Nash for a few more years. Plus taking a point guard closes the book on the Dragic expirement. Whereas James Johnson or Earl Clark will fill a huge hole. We can’t expect Hill to play 82 games again. Quick – Hill gets hurt and misses 50 games, and we haven’t resigned Barnes. Are you gonna start Dudley?

No doubt we have holes
but how good would this team possibly be starting a rookie anyway? There are a lot of teams that would be hurting if they lost a starter
I am fine w/ Clark as well for all the reasons you guys stated btw.
I just really liked Lawson and am not convinced Nash will be here beyond this season. The idea of a back court combo of the bigger (hopefully stronger after this summer) Dragic and the speedy aggressive Lawson just sounds appealing.
and finally, Centers and PG’s are the hardest positions to fill. If a very good one is available you take him and worry about it later. Wing players just seem so much more available in the universe

Btw - speaking of wing players
The Suns are working out this Swedish kid Jonas Jerebko who sounds interesting as a big defensive oriented SF. He’s slated to go early in the 2nd round and the Suns could trade their other 2nd rd picks to get him

i agree with that.
i’d be fine with moving up in the second round and either picking up jerebko or pendergraph.

How is drafting Lawson closing the books on Dragic?
How long do you expect Nash to be around? You don’t think that Lawson would need a backup when Nash is gone? Or, if Nash stays you dont think competition as the backup PG would be a good thing?

are we gonna start James Johnson or Earl Clark over Dudley??
o.0
Whats up doc?
I just remembered how
right you were about Kevin Love. I didn’t like him at all coming out of UCLA. You win

What's wrong with...
Two young point guards battling for a starting job after Nash leaves? I see only good coming from that situation
I wouldn’t say the “Dragic Experiment” is finished per say…but instead a new point guard experiment coming to form.

lol I voted for Clark since we already have Nash and Dragic
but this story from John Hollinger
makes me wanna pick Ty Lawson too….
side note: [I’m not an INsider on ESPN……so I didn’t get to read the article………. but I like John Hollingers computer analysis]
Whats up doc?
I picked Williams for these reasons.
He able to defend 3 positions, he is a great passer, he doesn’t turn the ball over and he is ready now.
Lawson will probably be a very good player even if he can’t shoot 3’s or defend but I think the suns need what Williams bring at this time. I don’t want to read all the comments about the suns defence again next year.
There are a lot of PG’s available this year take a chance on Hudson or Llull in the 2nd round.
I know it’s too high to take a wing…….if he helps the suns now with his skills take him
Hmmmmm....
So to win a title, we need a backup point guard? Hmmm… I fail to see it myself.
IMHO, there are two options with drafting:
1. Get the best player.
2. Get the player that will help the most.
A backup PG for the future achieves neither, especially for a team that can still contend.
Because despite the doom and gloom, the Suns have plenty of talent, and we get Amare back. Amare for 30 extra games is surely worth at least 4 more wins, so that makes the Suns a 50 win team right there. A few roster tweaks, and we could be in the upper echelon again. 10 more wins would have been good enough for 2nd in the conference, after all.
Given the Sun’s needs, their record, the quality of players available at 14 and the conference landscape, with 8 teams close in wins behind the Lakers and a big gap to the tenth best team, I think Phoenix should move the 14th pick for what they need to contend: another big.
The last time we had a good bigman rotation, as opposed to two great players and no depth, was Kurt Thomas last season, when we had Diaw, Marion, Amare and Thomas. Since then, we’ve got better talent in Shaq, but worse depth. We are now down to just two and a half players who can play the 4/5 fulltime in Amare and Shaq and a half in the Amundson, Barnes, Hill, Dudley foursome, none of whom are 5s but can play a bit of the four, and that is just too few. Another player who could play 5 would enable more options, with Amare afforded more time at the 4, and make the small lineup a weapon rather than a necessity. And no, i am not confident Robin Lopez can be that player soon enough.
It would be different if there was a player available late in the lottery who had star potential. But there is no player, at any position, who anyone is saying with any certainty is going to be even a starter available at 14. This is the biggest crapshoot of a draft in years outside Griffin, and any player chosen is a risk that could go in any direction. For team on the bubble, drafting 14 just isn’t a very good proposition this time around.
The future is now, and a defensive 4/5, or even an Udonis Haslem type pure role player to back up Amare and Shaq and let Dudley and Amundson be energy players for 15 minutes a game, would put the Suns back amongst the West’s Elite.
Make that player a defender with a varied repertoire, who can defend multiple positions, and we have pretty much the perfect team.
Can anyone say full mid-level exception to bring Shawn Marion back? (I can dream, can’t I!)
