T-mac for Amare?

The latest rumor from the mill is that the Rockets are looking to trade star SG Tracy McGrady for Suns F Amar'e Stoudemire involving three other players, the deal would include McGrady's expiring $22M contract, F Carl Landry, and breakout G Aaron Brooks for Amar'e Stoudemire and former sixth man of the year Leandro Barbosa. This is a move that is said to be a financially motivated move as was the Shaq trade made early today, the thought is clearing up significant cap space while also getting new young talent before Stoudemire who is pushing for an extension before the 2010 off-season, can opt out and become a free agent via his escape clause.

An even greater issue is what becomes of PG Steve Nash seeing as how he stated he would first take a look at the direction of the team and player acquisitions before extending his contract, now it seems Nash who also has a player option for 2010 will opt out and decide to play for a contender. This also leads to a doubtful return for veteran Suns F Grant Hill who despite playing all 82 games last season might decide to spend what may be his last year with a title contender as well.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

I’ll take anyone back but TMac. Anyone.

Who are these guys again?

NO!

barbosa is the only one on the suns that i would consider untouchable. we seriously should rebuild the team around a star player and barbosa. kid’s got game, and a good head on his shoulders on top of that.

and tmac is probably the biggest joke in the league right now. either him or arenas. both say that they’re “completely ready to play”, and then after a game or two (in arenas’ case) or half a season (tmac’s story), they break down and have to get yet another season ending surgery.

i have faith in our medical staff…but not that much faith.

Just curious...

Barbosa is the only untouchable in your mind? Why is that?

i'll rephrase.

untouchable unless there’s a gasol-like steal available.

he’s got work ethic. he’s got heart. he’s got an attractive contract for what we use him for. and, honestly, how much of a market is there for him? i don’t think we’d be able to get equal value in return.

that, and i think that we should base our rebuilding efforts around him. we drafted dragic and lopez last year (both of which have yet to prove to us that they aren’t busts) and clark and griffin this year (which, like any draftee, will just take time to see). i presume amaré will be gone before the season starts, but if not, he’ll be gone at the end of his contract unless we offer him that max extension, which i doubt we will. so, who does that leave us with, as far as people under the age of 30 (assuming amaré is gone and we don’t resign barnes)?

earl clark, 21; robin lopez, 21; goran dragic, 23; jared dudley, 24; alando tucker, 25; louis amundson (26, 27 in december); leandro barbosa (26, 27 in november); jason richardson, 28.

out of those, i’d only consider maybe (emphasis on maybe) rebuilding around richardson or rebuilding around barbosa. thus, if the trade rumors go through, and amaré is indeed in something other than a suns’ uniform next year, we’ll need someone young and promising that we can actually hold onto. hence, barbosa should not be put on the trade block, at all.

Nash's contract option is a team option, not a player option.

The extension is Nash's option

And without the extension, Nash threatens to walk at the end of the season for nothing, compelling a trade today.

So it works like Nash has the option this year.

no matter what

don’t deal any of our guys to GSW. that team is a trashhole

T-Mac has the worst contract in the league

Period.

There is no one as frail, unreliable, and such a proven loser as Tracy McGrady. On top of that, he makes 22 million!

Plus, did you see how much better Houston was without him last year? The Rockets are already a considerable amount better than the Suns……why increase that gap in an unfavorable manor?
