my thoughts on the trade keep flip/flopping
Value wise, Amare for Curry/Wright/Beans/one of Beli/Azu is good, but it just leaves such a need for frontcourt scoring. Beans would be perfect NEXT to Amare, not in PLACE of Amare. The same goes for the Wallace for Chandler trade. Why make that trade once you have Beans? Just buy-out Wallace, waive Sasha and save a bunch of money while adding additional space for 2010. Otherwise, the team looks like this:
Nash / Goran /
Richardson / Barbosa / Beli or Azu
Hill / Dudley / Tucker
Chandler / Wright / Clark / Griffin
Beans / Amundson / Fropez
And somehow Curry’s in there too. First of all, 16 players means that something is going down. Secondly….i really hate that starting frontcourt. Yeah, were solid defensively and on the glass, which is fantabulous, but you know who would fit in really, REALLY well in place of Chandler/Beans? AMARE!
i’m really confused at this point
Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

Azu
The guy is legit – young, great shooter, rebounder, DEFENDER – I would consider starting him.

just trade Wallace for Chandler and keep Amar’e
forget Sarver’s wallet, he’ll make his money once the team starts winning playoff series

of course if it fails, we don’t reach the playoffs, amare and nash both walk leaving us with nothing but chandler’s contract we’ll all be screaming at sarvkerr for not trading amare when he could have lol

We didnt make the playoffs last year
If we stand pat, we run the risk of having another agonizing season and then having Nash and Amare leave- for nothing. I would rather have all those players and a future, than 1 year and nothing.

Stein's column today
AMARE STOUDEMIRE TO GOLDEN STATE?
Getting greedy after the trade run we’ve just witnessed is understandable. You undoubtedly expected and wanted to hear that the Amare Stoudemire deal was going to go through Thursday night, lest we be forced to settle for the Vince Carter deal hours earlier as the last landscape-changer connected to a draft completely overshadowed by the manuevering that proceeded it.
The good news? The Warriors still might wind up with Stoudemire, whom they’ve coveted since February when the Suns first made him available as part of what is looking like a full-scale roster disassembly. Our tap-the-brakes disclaimer? Sources with certified knowledge of the teams’ negotiations say the deal is “still a maybe” and “not anywhere close” to completion. For a variety of reasons.
The Warriors would love to keep No. 7 pick Stephen Curry out of the exchange, and the Suns naturally are pushing for Curry’s inclusion. The Warriors also have to be sure Stoudemire’s eye and microfracture-repaired knee check out and hammer out the framework of a contract with him before completing the swap, or else they’re surrendering the likes of Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright and Marco Belinelli (and/or Kelenna Azubuike) for someone who can leave them in free agency in 2010.
The motivation, though, is believed to be there on both sides to push this through in July. With new general manager Larry Riley launching his tenure as aggressively as David Kahn’s in Minnesota, Golden State is convinced it has a face-of-the-franchise opening that will appeal to Amare’s superstar longings as well as a coach in Don Nelson who has been waiting his whole coaching life (or at least since Chris Webber’s youth) for a power player with Stoudemire’s mobility and elbow jumper.
Suns president Steve Kerr, meanwhile, clearly is driven to swing a talent-based deal for Stoudemire — bringing back the best firm offer that materializes, from the Warriors or otherwise — after the financially motivated shedding of Shaquille O’Neal. If he also can parlay Ben Wallace’s expiring contract into Tyson Chandler, perhaps Kerr will have taken enough steps to convince Steve Nash to recommit his long-term future to Phoenix.

I remember the cheers for Goran Dragic and now for Stephen Curry. If we do get him, or if we don’t, I just think, what the hell is going on in that "war room’?

It just plain can't happen till Wednesday
All of this stuff, flying him out, getting him a jersey number, putting him up on their website, it’s just protocol. Even if they do have intentions to trade him they’re not gonna let it be known.

Do you know what that is??
That’s Kerr trying to sweeten the deal to get Curry. I don’t know what to think about that. I know a lot of us have had our doubts about Leandro but I think at the end of the day most of us realize who he is, what he’ll give us, and frankly we love the guy’s style, heart, and his own love for the game, but most importantly we respect him. That’d be a bitter pill to swallow, but keep in mind that if there is any truth to it, we’re getting a guy back, in Curry, that has ten times the upside to anything Barbosa can give us. I love Leandro with all my heart but we could be getting the next Reggie Miller not to mention, possibly, our future PG.
Besides, Amare for four players, or even three players, and the #7 is a complete highway robbery/prison rape scenerio. Pick your poison, we either don’t get Curry, or we give up something we love for him.
The question is really: Has Leandro hit his ceiling?
Take care of the little things, and the big things will take care of themselves.

hmm
Has Leandro hit his ceiling?
Yes and No.
Yeah, we’ve seen all he’s basically capable of. But thats not bad at all, cause we know dude can shoot a nasty 3 (in clutch times too), has a killer slash to the basket, can grab steals, and has the fastest legs in the league.
No, because he hasnt been as consistent as we’d “like” him to be. I think he has a little more room to grow but only to make his current play more focused and consistent. His worth ethic is there and nobody calls this team home the way he does.
If I had to give my opinion on who our future is…it IS Captain Barbosa. He’s our X-factor.
by KnowGood on Jun 26, 2009 1:04 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
thats fair, however
the consistency could easily be achieved by giving him a consistent spot in the time up and consistent minutes…make no mistake tho, he’s still improving his game.
by Fritzy on Jun 26, 2009 1:23 PM MDT up reply actions 0 recs
I think both of you are spot on
That’s why it’d be VERY hard to deal him for Curry, who as yet obviously hasn’t proven anything except that he is a college scorer, even if his potential is sky high.

It’s either barbs or curry. Someone whose name starts with “K” feel’s curry will be more beneficial for the future of the franchise.

Write whatever you want. Here’s my point:
Just from what you cited him for yesterday -
“The Chandler for Wallace deal is done”. Woops
“The Suns are trading up to get Brandon Jennings.” Woops
“Suns and GS have signed off on the trade.” HUGE DIFFERENCE from having a plan or understanding and SIGNING OFF on the trade. That’s a bigger lie that Kerr is telliong
But that’s just evidence. As Homer Simpson said – "Facts? Pfff. You can use them to prove anything!

he never said chandler for wallace was done iirc...show me where i posted he did and i'll agree w/ you that he was wrong
A)suns trading for brandon jennings came from hoopsworld, not from this guy
B)coro’s article indicated that suns/gs had an agreement in place, so he was right about that. you’re arguing semantics.
so your evidence is kinda shallow man
anyways, for what it’s worth, believe it or not, your choice:

AMARE IS GONE.
BARBOSA – GS WOULD LIKE TO INCLUDE HIM IN THE DEAL, ITS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN THOUGH. HE IS NOT THE DEAL BREAKER.

I think it’s just a warrior bias from a fan who wants more. I think curry is definitely ours though. from same place
Curry press conference just completed, (fake moon landing style) it wasn’t very convincing or long. 4 minutes total, 3 questions, clear the set, photo opp. Ray’s comment on it says it best. It seemed like there should have been a hostage negotiator at the press conference. “Kerr, we have something that belongs to you. You have one hour before we hurt the kid.”

Warriors Want Curry More Than Amare?

I talked with a Warriors insider and it seems the Warriors may be willing to walk away from the Amare Stoudemire deal if it means giving up Stephen Curry.
The press conference to introduce him to local medium is still going on at 2. There are reports that the deal is on hold. Originally, the No. 7 pick was part of the deal. Since it turned out to be Curry, who both teams love, the Warriors don’t want him as part of the deal. Phoenix does.
Why are they putting their foot down on Curry? My guess:
• they are already giving up enough
• Curry is the Monta Ellis insurance they need
Is this all a front, a Chris the Moneymaker type bluff to squeeze more out of the Suns? We will see

I have some very good news. Unfortunately I’m not allowed to post it just yet. But its very good news for the suns, I will leave it at that.
For example, who knows wtf that means?
Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

I'm convinced ...
That when July 8th comes around, and the Suns don’t cave, the trade will go down as planned (including Curry). I think this is all mind games now to try to get the Suns to either (a) keep Curry out of it, or (b) the Suns will give up Barbosa or someone else.

kerr knows his mistakes
By moving shaq to cleveland, and firing porter after the all-star break was his acknowledgement of his blunders. My only beef is that dude has no remorse for them, just accepts them and goes for more. Its as if the man thinks that if he tries all different combinations maybe he’ll find one that works rather than developing one squad.
Remind me why we took the Moron Meter off? Lets Fire Kerr, waive Nash as a player but hire him as GM, and play with 5 starting forwards. Cause thats basically what it looks like we’re doing.

The Curry situation
When Minnesota picked Jonny Flynn with the sixth pick Thursday night, the Suns basketball operations office erupted in elation audible from a floor below. They had their guy … or at least they thought they did and still believe they do.
The Suns had an agreement in principle with Golden State about a deal that would send Amare Stoudemire to the Warriors for Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright, Marco Belinelli and the No. 7 pick. It was the Suns’ understanding that the Warriors were drafting Curry for them.
But with Biedrins’ base-year compensation status, a deal can’t be completed immediately because his cap number is lower than his actual $9 million salary until July. Phoenix was expecting to have to wait about two weeks (until July 8) for the deal to be completed.
That is a lot of time, especially when there already is a lot of talk out of Golden State about the Warriors keeping Curry. That about-face would apparently would nix the deal for Phoenix. Even today, there is still a belief in Phoenix that the deal will get pushed through under the initial agreement but you have to wonder if Golden State was shocked that Curry was available and is having a change of heart. There was nothing binding about the agreement.
“I was concerned at one time that we might not be able to get him,” Golden State General Manager Larry Riley told reporters in Oakland. “I thought he might go ahead of us but as the draft turned out, it came to our favor.”
He also added that Curry will “definitely be a contributor to our team as a rookie” but also was asked about reports that Curry was part of a trade. He said, “I’m operating as though Stephen Curry is a Golden State Warrior. We’re in contact with a lot of teams and have been throughout this draft. We’ve been extremely busy and at this stage I’ll have no comment on potential trades or anything that involves movement in the future. I will tell you that we would seek to improve our ballclub throughout this summer by whatever means.” That’s not exactly a guarantee that Curry is staying.
The Warriors, overloaded at guard, have wanted Stoudemire for a while to fill their desire for a versatile power forward. Stoudemire assumably would like to be a team’s focal point and also would want a contract extension, something the Suns were not prepared to give him. Stoudemire could walk in a year so the Suns felt like this was the best deal they could get with four players coming back in it, including a point guard in Curry who they feel has Steve Nash qualities as a playmaker and shooter.
Stoudemire’s ability to walk in a year and his health history (knees, eye) would be issues that Golden State would seem to need addressed, if they have not been already.
The deal would also shave more money off the Suns’ payroll and could put them under the luxury tax threshold. But if such a deal occurs, where do the Suns’ points in the paint come? The starting big men would probably be Biedrins, who is scores off easy stuff, and Wright, a power forward who scores off a mid-range game. But the Suns would play as fast as ever.
Wright is important in the deal because the Suns would have a void in the frontcourt and need a shooting power forward for their system. They would have to seek another big man who can score in free agency.
Curry said the right things about wanting to be a Warrior but a source in the know said going to the Warriors was his worst-case scenario. The possibility “terrified” the Curry contingent and that would be made clear to the Warriors.
On other fronts, it does not appear that a Ben Wallace-for-Tyson Chandler deal will come off. The Suns can save millions by working out a buyout with Wallace while acquiring Chandler would add another year of salary. Acquiring Biedrins would also lessen the chances. He is the type of center who rotates well on help defense, can cover a pick-and-roll and can show on screens and recover with his mobility and length.
We didn’t share much about the Suns’ second-round pick, Oklahoma forward Taylor Griffin, who Suns Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations David Griffin (no relation) said measured at 6 feet 8 inches and 235 pounds at the Portsmouth Invitational. The Suns have an affinity for the less-heralded brother in drafts after taking Robin Lopez last year.
“He’s got tremendous athleticism,” Griffin the executive said. “He’s extremely aggressive, both offensively and defensively. Somewhat in the mold of a Lou Amundson, he’s going to guard multiple positions. We feel he’s a high-end offensive rebounder. The thing that distinguishes Taylor from a lot of people of his makeup is he really has tremendous feel for the game. He’s an outstanding passer. Playing with his brother, there were quite a few times he’d play the high post for his brother’s low post. He’s a very good transition player and somebody who we know is of the absolute highest character and really fits what we’re trying to build here. It was a pick that almost invoked executive privilege for Steve. We’re very connected to the player.”
Suns General Manager Steve Kerr said, “A winner. Plays hard every possession. He does a lot of things well. I think he can continue to develop his jump shot. If he’s got a smaller guy on him, he’s got a little post game. He’s a good passer, can put the ball on the floor a little bit. He’s just a guy who’s a basketball player. Pretty big and athletic. I’m pretty surprised people weren’t higher on him.”
Griffin the Sooner told the Tulsa World, "Phoenix was actually a favorite team of mine growing up, so that’s kind of cool. I loved watching them play when I was in high school.
"I think I can fit in well there. I’m not sure what they want to do with me. I’ll have a chance to show them what I can do on their summer league team. They’ve also talked about possibly sending me overseas. We’ll have to wait and see what happens."
Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." This thing is so F’d up, bc the deal couldnt get done on draft night this is going to make it so much more complicated. Now barbosa( who i love) is getting thrown in there for 3 unproven players and a rookie? I just dont get it, now i fear kerr will pull the trigger beacuse they havent discusses an extension with amare and they dont want to lose him for nothing. So my gut tells me that kerr will just do the deal without curry just so he can get something in return.

I think
this has gone to far to turn back. What do you think Amare’s camp is thinking? He probably at this point wants to move on also.
I like the deal, if Curry is not in the deal I would make it as long as Golden ST. puts a 1st rounder in for next year, and 2012.

It might be too far
but i hope not.
Amar’e making jokes on his Twitter, joking that he was traded to the Lakers – at least I think that’s actually him.
I am probably in the minority, but I hope Amar’e stays. Especially if Chandler is acquired, I think this team does have a chance for a deep playoff run. And with the Shaq trade, maybe Sarver will be willing to shell out some bucks for him and Nash.
I’m also not a huge Curry fan. I’m not convinced he’ll be a great shot-creator for others – although, I may be spoiled by watching Nash for years.
I say play out the first part of the season with Amare/Richardson/Nash/Hill/Chandler and Clark/Griffin/Dragic/Amundson/Lopez/Dudley/Tucker.
If it doesn’t work, trade him mid-way through where he can be seen as a 1) addition to a playoff team or 2)an expiring contract – should have some value either way. The little drop-off in value is worth the risk in my opinion.
I’d also advocate the signings of C.J. Watson (nice little backup point guard – I know you guys LOVE former Golden State players) and/or the undrafted athletic big man Josh Heytvelt.

Suns won’t get Curry for Stoudemire

The Arizona Republic
If the Suns make an Amaré Stoudemire trade with Golden State, they won’t be getting Stephen Curry in the exchange.
Multiple league sources said Golden State is unwilling to part with Curry, who the Warriors did not expect to be available with their seventh overall pick in Thursday’s draft.
The Suns and Warriors were prepared to make a deal that would have sent Stoudemire to Golden State for the No. 7 pick, Andris Biedrins, Brandan Wright and Marco Belinelli until Curry became available at No. 7.
The Warriors introduced Curry at a Thursday press conference, where Golden State coach Don Nelson told reporters, “He wasn’t drafted for somebody else. He is not going to be traded. He was drafted because we think he is going to be a terrific player and he’s going to be right here. So he can unpack his bags, he can relax, go buy a house, because he ain’t going any place.”
The team’s general managers, Phoenix’s Steve Kerr and Golden State’s Larry Riley, acknowledged having trade talks but denied any agreement.
The teams will continue talking about how a trade could be worked out but it is now just among several conversations the Suns are having.

yeah, as long as Chandler’s toe is ok I think he is a perfect addition to the Suns. Wouldn’t mind AK47 but I think his contract is a little more challenging although I could be talking out of my a** again

ak47's three million higher then jrich ( 15 compared to 12)
and increases at about the same amount every year. both are 3 year contracts aswell.

like an East-Side vs West-Side thing?
If Chandler comes over will someone in STAT’s posse cap him in Vegas?

dude they wouldn’t pop a cap in his ass…they would drop him from the top of ghost bar at the palms— only about 57 stories or so.
apparently that actually happened when the all-star game was in vegas

Chandler would be the best choice
don’t mind that j-rich for kirilenko trade either

get chandler and try and get kirilinko for j-rich extra
( 2nd round picks, sign and trade with barnes, tucker or CASH (fat chance)….)

great plan
Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." He sounds more legit with this to be honest.
Simply cause he asked to see what people thought. I may have read too much into it but that’s my 2 cents

Don’t get me wrong, I’m having fun. This is better than our season was, win or lose.
