Amare continues to tease trades and piss off fans
Before I start I would like to say that I'm probably the biggest supporter of stat and that I would like nothing more than to have him stay in phoenix and reach the potential I know he can reach in the run and gun system.
Today Amar'e has posted two twitter updates announcing trades to the Lakers & then the Warriors. Also today, I have began to realize that no matter how talented this guy is he will never be a dominant scorer or max contract guy his continuous self promoting on his twitter page and the fake trade announcements are getting to me.
He's just as talented as D-Wade Lebron and Carmelo. However he's never gonna be included in that upper-echelon of young players if he doesn't figure out right now that the things he says and does is going to be read and examined and scrutinized by millions of people he needs to be a role model and do things the right way. He has to begin to be a man so that he can be "the man".
He was young when he came in the league but 6 years later I still have yet to see any maturation. There arguably isnt another guy playing on the frontcourt in the NBA with as much raw talent, athleticism and skill as Amar'e yet he doesn't always come to play it's the same case again with guys like him and stephon marbury. Amar'e has shown commitment to rehabbing and working on the intangibles to his game but somehow he just doesn't get it.
We can only hope that he could atleast pretend to mature like KB24. I'm probably not telling you anything you didn't know but I guess I remained ignorant to it because I wanted Amar'e to suceed because he was always my favorite sun along with nash from the 7SOL days.

I find it entertaining. Maybe Shaq did try to teach him a few things. I want to see if he has any new dance moves.
In all seriousness, though, I see what you mean. Maybe he’s been frustrated by the constant trade talks and criticism. Sorta reminds me of the Marion situation. I hope he stays. So much talent. I would hate for him to blossom for another team. Take the gamble and play out the year.

The twitters
actually made me laugh. I think they were some of the smartest things he’s done. He’s failed in my opinion using twitter so far b/c he’s tried or his “people” have tried to just use it like some kind of mass email – spamming people to sign up for an Amare debit card. WTF is that?
With these tweets he showed us something of himself. He was humorous and somewhat self deprecating. I like it.
That doesn’t change any of the rest of your point though. Amare is 27. He is what he is which is an overall decent guy who does in my opinion work hard to improve his game. He is not a team player however and not a leader by any stretch.
He’s a very talented guy who if he can stay healthy is certainly a GREAT #1 or #2 scoring option but he’s not a max contract player and he thinks he is. I desperately wish Amare would realize this and an accept a reasonable extension offer to stay in Phoenix. To me that means about what JRich is making – $12 to $15m per year for about 3 yrs with maybe an option for a 4th.
I wouldn’t have any problem signing him for longer then that if it wasn’t for his knees which worry me.
Who knows. Maybe this summer Amare will see the light and realize what he is in this league and accept that. There’s nothing wrong with being a GREAT scorer making $14m per year to play basketball.
Great post btw. Hope you don’t mind I added some paragraph breaks. I am no grammar police but that’s one thing that I think makes posts easier to read.

idk
maybe its the constant self promotion that finally got to me, first hes trying to ruin my credit score and then hes joking about being traded away from my favorite team

I thought it was pretty funny
Amar’e seems like one of the few guys in this league who truly isn’t bothered by the trade rumors. If the guy whose possibly being shipped out can have fun with it, cant you?

I wouldn’t be bothered by trade rumors either if the team I’m going to is giving me $95 million reasons to stay another five years.
I wish Amare would, as Stan says, take less money and stay here. I agree he’s worth about 12-15 mil a year. He’s not worth max money, but I hope he achieves the success he looks for. He does genuinely seem like a nice enough guy, and works incredibly hard, and I would love to see him help the Suns succeed, but it just doesn’t seem in the cards right now.

it was fuuny
i told my Laker fan since i live LA about that and he really believed it. LOL.
i dont mind his immaturity..
if he puts in his all-out effort on the court he’ll be better than wade or carmelo at least; lebron maybe. But its been what 6 years? and he’s still reeling us in with his awesome offense but sadly a guy like amundson, given half the playing time, would out rebound him and out-defend him night in and night out.
i look at players like Rajon Rondo who’s suppose to have off-court issues but man he leaves everything on the court while playing. Kobe is actually a pompous braggart but if i were a Laker fan i wouldnt complain with his on-court work ethic. Bottomline Amare is not and will never be a max player.
I wouldnt take it personal i think he did it to piss off steve kerr..I mean we traded shaq as a salary dump sarver said a couple months ago he’ll pay the luxury tax again because we’ll have massive cap room in2010 we wont be over the salary cap now and we’re trying to trade amare in a salary dunp..He’s going to make 17 mil next yr 3 mil more is max..if we give steve nash (36/37/38)however old he is an extention and trade for shaq(max contract) and J-Rich 12 mil why not give him the ball and the extention

One thing I've learned from the Steve Kerr era
is that we should never believe what he says. Unless we get really good players out of trading Shaq… I’ll be pissed… really pissed.
