Yao out for next season, Suns fans have hope

Mingyaosadcourtesy400_medium

Rockets center Yao Ming’s left foot injury could be severe enough to be season ending or even career-threatening depending on the success of potential treatments chosen, Rockets team physician Tom Clanton said Monday.

"At this point, the injury has the potential for him missing this next season and could be career threatening," Clanton said. "One of the things we are trying to get is a consensus opinion on that, to make certain there is no option we are overlooking that would provide an earlier return or would be an option for treatment that he would prefer rather than doing additional surgery."

Now what this means for the rockets and more importantly the suns.

For the rockets they lose what was not only their only go-to scorer but a terriffic passer, and in the long run any medical coverage they are offering over there to their players is going to soon become more expensive than their pay role. If you take Yao out of that line up you have a core of players that include Ron Artest (Maybe now that this news has came out hes probably doubting coming back), McGrady (Maybe, or more likely 20 games), Luis Scola, Aaron Brooks, Battier, Carl Landry, Kyle Lowry (yikes), and no true center. That isnt a team that will yield 53 wins. That isnt a playoff team. Plus here's this, the Sun's are.

The Suns are a if we can keep Amar'e and get a mobile big like chandler or maybe Gortat in free agency after a buy out of Wallace and Pavlovic. That's it, the run and gun is going to win some games just because of how explosive it makes our offense. Do you remember how well the pick and roll works with Nash and Amar'e imagine another season of that with a bench that can come in and play. I don't care what anyone says I saw something special in the bench past LB and Grant Hill for once, what with Lou playing his heart out every night and dudleys versatility. Speaking of which Grant Hill said during a interview at Nash's soccer charity game that he wouldn't mind coming back. This Suns team can be a second round team, there are arguably three teams head and shoulders better than the Suns on paper. The Lakers (Who are going to lose one player who was important to them winning the title either way you shake it), the Sp*rs (who I still hate), and perhaps Denver.

We can beat any other team in the western conference in a playoff series, with some additions the phoenix suns are relevant again. It may be due to poor circumstances but I now have hope for the suns again. Please tell me what you guys think.

Our team is broke, we are blowing it up

and you are happy because Yao is badly injured. Man I would hate to have your Karma.

I was all for keeping Amar'e

but then the trade kept getting more and more likely to happen so I took a stand to keep it in our favor somewhat. Now it’s not looking so great so go after a mobile big. Reason 1) It’s the smartest thing to do and 2) Everyone that’s Pro -Amar’e staying can’t find a complaint in it. But I keep forgetting Kerr isn’t a great listener so….

It's a sad day for basketball

I love watching Yao’s game, and seeing him turn from an awkward and often disinterested young centre, to the pride of China and one of the top centres in the league has been a great story.

It is such a shame that he has had an injury plagued career.

China – i think it’s time to genetically engineer another 8 foot monster!!!
