Sign/Trade for Odom?

While I'm relatively happy with the current makeup of the Suns now, there's definitely room to improve. One way is through a deal for Chandler. Another could be in a sign and trade deal with any team that's interested in our expiring contracts we pickup up for Shaq. Have that team sign Lamar Odom and trade for those contracts. That would definitely give us some more size/skill. Our starting lineup would look like:

PG Nash

SG Richardson

SF Hill

PF Amare

C Odom

Odom could slide to the 3 if we needed a bigger lineup w/Lopez.

Could work or?

I like that idea actually. You possibly could use the same scenario with David Lee or Chris Wilcox. What do you think?

Either...

Lee or Wilcox would be a possibility. I was also thinking of a trade for Marcus Camby…if the Clips are interested in getting rid of him….we’d have to sweeten the deal for them somehow.

odoms not a center

if we did a sign and trade for a PF i would like david lee the most if we were to commit long term but i dont think this is the answer. we shouldnt make moves just for the sake of making moves.

oh ya richardson would be traded for odom so barbosa would have to start and odom wouldnt start over hill if robin lopez was at center

and that lopez part gave me a good laugh, thanks, hes a center that plays like hes 6 feet tall cuz he always hunched over

Richardson was a misprint at the top only...

The deal would be for our expiring contracts, not Richardson Also, BTW…picking up Odom wouldn’t be ‘making a move for the sake of making moves’. He helped the Lakers to the title this year. In addition, he’s got a great outside shot and would give us additional height if we played him at the 3. He could also do the 4 and we could let Amare take the 5.

oh shit my bad

ha i read this after reading the jrich for dampier post and was still thinking about that when i read urs. after reading it again i like this alot more so forget what i said except for the lee and robin lopez part.
if only we had cuban as a manager as much as i hate dallas it seems like he will pay any amount of money to win

agreed

odom is definitely not a center. he would never be able to defend most centers that are just taller and bigger than he is. david lee would be awesome i think, it gives us some more youth and a guy that can rebound anything that amare or nash miss.

Lee...

would be good too if we could get him. A team would need to sign him to a big enough deal and then New York would have to decide not to match. After that, they’d have to agree to the sign/trade.

Odom not a center

I’d put Odom in the Hedo Turkoglu type mold.

When he was on Miami a few years ago in the playoffs, at the end of the game they put the rock in his hands and he created some noise from the top of the key, much as Turkoglu did last year for Orlando. Since those days in Miami though, he’s had not nearly as integral role in LA with Kobe being the man there, he’s become a spare part/bench player.

not to mention that

compared to odom, j-rich and even amar’e are models of consistency. i believe odom to be vastly overrated, then again it’s hard for me to correctly asses him as I hate the fakers so much

Odom would be totally the Suns type center like Tim Thomas or Mehmet Okur

Only problem is that I like dealing with the lakers about as much as a land war in asia. It cant happen unless Odom first moves to another team.

Who are these guys again?

Id trade j-rich for camby then make the deal for odom and trade a second round pick for gerald green

by Lebrontophx2010 on Jul 13, 2009 1:20 PM MDT reply actions

LBJtoPHX2010 has a good point on J-Rich for Camby

except they would never do it. They’re trying to build a youth movement around Griffin, Gordon and Thornton and J-Rich doesn’t solve anything.

That said...

I absolutely love Lamar’s game…at the 3. Amare owns the 4 and Odom’s not a 5. When I calculate the 10 roles, I don’t put him in a group. It simply says “LO.” And I know exactly what that means.
