Anybody know anything about Barnes?
Just wondering if anyones heard whether the team's thinking about resigning him at all. He has purchased a home in Phoenix, and as far as I know there hasn't been much talk or interest about him. I'm hoping we resign him, even though we already have Hill. I think Barnes would be great off the bench, giving us some stability and experienced play. Plus, he can shoot the 3-ball from time to time. Depth is a good thing to have, especially late in the season and in playoff time.

Keep Matt Barnes
I agree wholeheartedly. I think Matt is a valuable part of the Suns and I’d like to see him signed ASAP.
absolutely...he's earned his spot with us after last year
i’m hoping after they get their priority guys ironed out they can go after him for a reasonable amount..
after Grant Hill
he’s probably our next perimeter defender. And he’s a high energy guy, we should keep him.

Let him loose
He won’t be back.
Suns have Hill, Tucker and Clark going for minutes at the 3, why sign Barnes? He’s a low percentage chucker. If you want some guy to shoot 39% from the field why not let youngsters Tucker or Clark in there? At least they can improve in the future.

The team has shown no interest in re-signing Barnes...
… and we’re already at 13 on next years roster. He’s as good as gone, and that’s a good thing. Last offseason, having only seen Barnes for short stretches playing for other teams, I was thrilled we could land him for the minimum. After getting a chance to watch him for a significant stretch of games it’s obvious why nobody was trying to give him more money (and why he hasn’t been in the news at all this summer). The guy has a negative basketball IQ; he makes horrible decisions on a regular basis, ones which wipe away his positive contributions. With how streaky his jumper is, he’s not always contributing much of anything to start with. His defensive ability is also a bit overrated and inconsistent.
The only interest I have in Barnes is beating him soundly with a 2X4
once for every ill-advised shot he took. Too bad I’m busy inventing a bionic eye for Amare at the moment.
"Fun fact: Larry Hughes, who couldn’t stay healthy if all his human parts were replaced with bionic implants, is out for the next four weeks with a bruised leg. Do you think that Willis Reed ever reads about all these players missing time with bruises and sprained fingers and throws up in his mouth a little?"
One more season...
He played well with Golden State and to his defense, he came in after the season already started and had to deal with changing coaches and styles of play. I’d like to see him one more season with the team to gauge him properly.
I think this team’s going to be alot better than what people think if we keep the team as is. I think Barnes will do well for our second unit. But I agree, it doesn’t appear the Suns are too interested in resigning him.

(oops)
I’m not sure who you’re thinking of (JRich maybe?), but Barnes signed last summer before the season. He went through training camp and preseason like everyone else. We’ve already seen a full season of him, and I don’t have any problem gauging him properly. He’s mediocre at best, the kind of guy who’s good enough to play somewhere but you don’t want to see him on your team.
