Was it just me or...

or did Channing Frye impress you in his introductory press conference?  His answers were well-reasoned, and he seemed like he was putting thought into what he was saying, rather than the typical "I'm going to work hard" answers pro players usally give.

I'm very excited about this guy.  He seems like he has the personality to make the locker room upbeat without it getting obnoxious (ala Shaq).

For 2 million a year, this doens't look like a bad pick up at all.

Frye mentioned that he could play 'a bit' at center to let "Sun Tzu" slide back to his natural 5.  I like it!  I sitll haven't decided though if I'd want Lopez to start or Frye.

What do you think?

Natural 5

I disagree. Amar’e’s best position regarding his size and athleticism and overall ability is at the 4. Especially defensively. He’s not quite strong/big enough to bang down low.

Amar'e at 4

Amare at 4, and Lopez or Frye at 5. We don’t need to bang low at the post, just run and gun against everyone. I mean, we almost made it to the finals a few years ago with this style of play. And we have more depth now with a good bench.

The more I read about Frye, the more I like this pick up. He had a solid rookie season and a pretty good 2nd year. Since he went to Portland, he just hasn’t gotten the consistent minutes. I agree with Gentry, I think our team’s system will suit Frye’s style of play well. Plus, he should compliment Amar’e. Stoudamire will have room to move and create and use his athleticism. What I’m not quite sure of yet is if Lopez or Frye should start.
