Rudy pissed at Blazers, Suns should make a trade

According to this article by Chris Sheridan of the four-lettered network, Rudy Fernandez is really pissed at the Blazers for signing Orlando free agent Hedo Turklaglu. So, I propose this trade: Rudy Fernandez & Laef LaFrentz's $12.7M expiring contract for Jason Richardson. Suns get Rudy and about $11.7M of cap space and the blazers get an explosive scorer to play alongside Roy and Turklaglu. I have no idea if the Blazers would actually be interested in this (my guess is they wouldn't as they already have a scoring 2-guard in Roy), but it would be a great deal for the Suns as it would clear money to sign Amare and get them Rudy back. Anyway, just an idea ...

i don't think POR needs J-Rich, especially at his price tag

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

I'm now of the opinion that every team needs jrich

except the suns.

Now where is he signed…

Raef's contract has already expired

and there’s no way they would want JRich. They might be interested in Nash but would he really want to sign an extension and go there? They play VERY slow and deliberate basketball and emphasize defense.

We saw how that worked for Nash last year.

If they really really

wanted to unload Rudy, they would want Lou and/or Dudley and probably a lot more.

Rudy is only making like $1.1m next year on his rookie deal so you can’t trade him straight up for a big name. You have to throw in a bigger contract like Travis Outlaw and then they would be giving up FAR more talent then they are getting back.

Not likely

Rudy is pissed

If the reports on Rudy are true, Rudy is pissed because he’s signed to the NBA minimum contract for a first round pick when he could get 5 million tax free euros per year by signing with a European club. Oh and the Suns have a reputation of being cheap arses as well.

A trade back to the Suns would not solve his heart ache.

How about...

Rudy + Raef’s contract + Portland’s 2010’s 1st round pick + their 2010 2nd round pick from Chicago for Nash.

Assuming Portland had RLEC still

why would they trade tons of cap space and a talented player for someone who plays the same position as their best player? Nash would make more sense than JRich… but as pointed out, P-town does not play a style that Nash would like at all. Unfortunately I don’t see how Portland or Phoenix can help each other at all.

Portland, though, has tried to acquire Nash

They’ve made serious noise about trying to get him.

And don’t think they wouldn’t adjust their system to incorporate him. I suspect McMillan has a very strong idea of how he’d want that team to play with Nash, which is probably with a ball handling 2 guard.

People on this board don’t understand that Nash was just as good in Dallas, the year he was paired with Nick Van Exel. They were an elbow to Steve Kerr’s head away from getting to the finals that year.
