Why not Shawn Marion?
Don't know if this has been brought up before but I was just wondering if the Suns have any interest in pursuing Shawn Marion? And if not, why not?
It looks like Alvin Gentry is going to put back in a run n' gun style, and the important pieces are still in place that made those playoff runs...Nash and Amare. Couple that with Jason Richardson and Barbosa, and the Suns can still run. Why not take a look at Marion when his stock is low?

Oh man
I was just thinking about this too and posted it in a comment under the “Get Ariza NOW” post.
I would love for it to happen and couldn’t be more excited to get him back. But that’s just cause he’s my favorite player.
I think he would be a great pick up at probably the MLE. He hasn’t exactly impressed greatly ever since being traded and he was basically perfect for us

Suns Fans say yes, Suns brass say "derrrrrrhhhhrrrrrrr"
Sarver/Kerr can’t admit their mistake in trading away Matrix, therefore, they won’t make a move that would produce wins. Instead, we will trade Amare for spare parts and win 24 games next season without our pick in 2010. I’m not usually like this but I’m feeling a little bitter right now.
I would love to get Anthony Parker and Shawn in Suns uni’s.
Nash/Parker/Marion/Amare/Chander…….BOOOOOOMMMMMMM, but no, Suns brass are idiots.

Yes!
Yeah I think it would be great to get Marion back, but I too agree that Sarver/Kerr cant admit their mistake and bring the Matrix back but if you can get him at the MLE then why not?

At the MLE, absolutely.
Anything more, no way.

I would love shawn, but you know that he thinks he is worth more than the MLE. He should really care about coming back to a winning team and not being pimped around the league like a washed up hooker.
On top of that I like the blazers but love how Hedo pulled a Don Nelson on em’, he is going to go to the Raptors for 5 or 6 million more dollars. Which since he plays the SF means they are clearly over Marion
No day but today

Marion, the trade, and coming back
I didn’t like the Shaq trade for Marion….but he did want a max contract at the time. If we brought him back now, after his Miami and Toronto experiences, we might be able to get him for the MLE (especially after what happened w/Toronto yesterday). That would be a good deal.
Regarding our overall roster, I’d keep Nash for the year and not extend him (unless New York were to throw in a couple first rounders) and some young talent to get him this year.
I’d offer Amare a contract worth $14 – 15 mill a year and see if he takes it. Otherwise, I’d either do the same type of trade as with Nash (first round selections and young talent) or let him walk as well.
Building around Nash doesn’t make sense b/c he’s older (from a player standpoint). Building around Amare (at a max contract) is too risky b/c of his issues w/his knees and eyes.

I think he's over himself now
Especially after being way less of a player in Toronto and Miami than he was in Phoenix. Admit you’re mistake Kerr and bring him back!

Dude, really?
I am so tired of hearing people say bring back Marion. Lets just trade anything left and bring back all old players now, as if we were not already an old team. Look at Marion in two other systems since he left, he sucks. I heard two days ago that the suns were looking at resigning mcdyess. While we are at it, lets go pickup Kidd and Q and JJohnson and KJ, Barkley and Chambers. Get over it.

If you remember, Nash played for us twice too. The second time…didn’t he win 2 and almost 3 MVP awards? Just b/c a player was on our team and left is no reason not to bring them back. That’s especially true in Marion’s case. The year away should have helped him to understand what a good system/team he was with. We wouldn’t need to trade for him b/c we’d just be giving him the MLE (we wouldn’t be paying him a ton w/some sort of sign and trade…that wouldn’t be worth it).

True however almost does not count.
Here is my problem. Trix wanted max money here. Kerr told him he was not a max guy so he wanted out. The rumor mill always said that trix, stat and nash did not click well and the chemistry was not well. So now you want to bring back a guy who wanted max money. No way he will eat that slice of humble pie. Especially with Stat and Nash still here.

Team Work
Miss the team that works together like the D’Antonio days (BK, before Kerr). They were mentally in tune, equally valued, fun to watch, fast, plays-at times-confused opposing teams, clean playing and appeared to really get along. Trading Marion (something was going on behind the scenes) began the broken spirit syndrome. The team got more and more broken/shallow/disjointed as Bell and Barbosa left the Suns bench. Couldn’t find a more Suns dedicated player than The Blur. Kerr doesn’t have that loyalty to the Suns or Phoenix. It’s a paycheck, just a paycheck! I didn’t drop everything to watch the games as before…….too heartbreaking! Of course, I cheered when overrated Shaq was history…did watch that.
Additional notes…..Of course, I remain angered over the referee calls especially when our Suns get kneed and bloodied while the referees fail to “notice” (remember those playoffs?). This year it was changing calls after a call was made. Referees need to get glasses or another job! One last point……Keep coaches off the floor. Where is the NBA? I’ve sent my letters.

MLE??
Not happening.
Marion already turned down a 4yr/30+ million from the Raptors.
At the very least the Suns would have to go 10 million annually if they don’t want to go past 3 years.

he's worth 3 years 30 million
He hates Amare though becuase he doesn’t play any defense and talks about being a top 5 NBA player. what a joke! I think he sucks because he’s the worst defensive big man in the league and we shoudl trade him immediately

Worth
I’d say he’s worth 21 million over 3 years.
