I knew Mark Cuban was still pissed at me about him calling me names via email.

oh no, oh no oh no oh no
OH NO!
Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."
Dallas fan here...
Come on, this is way less douchey than Dancing With the Stars! Besides, this is mostly about Colangelo wanting to do Marion a favor, and Dallas being probably the only team that can help him pull it off. Frankly, I can’t imagine what Hedo can do for Toronto that Marion can’t, but I’m glad they blew all that money on him and opened this up.
For the record, Mark kinda annoys us too, but it’s hard to argue with nine consecutive 50-win seasons.
I think if you put two of my best seasons together it wouldn't come up with the numbers he's going to have at the end of the season. -Troy Aikman on Tony Romo

Well, here we go.
I’m not sure how far along this is – and neither does ESPN.com’s Marc Stein, I don’t think – but the first very public story about Shawn Marion hit the web a while ago.
As I said earlier, Dallas was a pretty good fit right off the bat with a spendthrift owner and a need for a rebounding athlete.
Whether anything happens or not remains to seen and according to every league source I’ve spoken to, Bryan Colangelo is not – NOT – taking back additional salary cap obligations. I take that to mean if they’re going to take on Jerry Stackhouse, as Marc suggests, it’s only for a minute till they move him and his small guarantee along.
That means, as Marc pointed out, there’ll have to be a third team involved and that always gets convoluted. And means this is far from done.
It’s always been expected that Bryan would help Shawn get as good a deal as he can; it’s for certain that he’s not going to help if it means taking on cap hits and putting any kind of dent in financial flexibility the Raptors may have.

what about Josh Howard?
Or is Shawn going to back up Dirk?
I mean…talk about ego-hurting. How can Marion accept a bench role at Dallas????
The working theory around here is that...
Marion would play SF, with Josh moving to shooting guard.

Shawn at SG would be the better choice
He can gaurd the wings better and has 3-pt threat
Who are these guys again?
They would both essentially be playing the same position...
Josh would just be the guy getting announced at the 2 guard when the game starts.

Cuban would do this for one main reason
To get the Suns and Suns fans back for Steve Nash.
Who are these guys again?
Maybe its time
Watching all the goings on with free agents and reading about Steve Nash and his desire for New York, GRant and the Celtics, … maybe it’s just time that we faced the facts … stepped up to reality. It’s time to simply blow this team up, dump salaries and set up a new strategy for this team. Start considering the prospect of some 30 win seasons for a couple of years while redefining this team. The Suns have gone through a number of incarnations in its history and this will simply be another. If I’m Sarver and Kerr I guess I would simply define a new vision of what I want this team to look like in a couple fo years and then go about the hard work of getting them set up for that. No Steve. No Shawn. Forget Chandler. No Frye. No Amare. Start getting the financial model set up correctly. Build up the scouting. Trade some current valuable assets (Steve and Amare) for some future assets (draft picks and expiring salaries), groom the youngsters. I think I would respect that more than just making some half-hearted gesture of signing some over the hill guys simply to create the illusion of competing. The West is going to be tough this year but in 2 years it will be a very different landscape. Take the gas now, and be done with it.
i dont think you understand
blowing it up now would be all fine and good; IF we had our pick for next year. We don’t, so why tank now. Best bet is to wait out another season, and next year go after free agents with all the salary space we’ll have
Let the fools have their tartar sauce!

We could develop the younger players, rather than benching them behing aging rentals
Who are these guys again?
Yea but ....
I would think we could trade into that draft pool given the contracts we’ve got and our assets. I’m not sure how the draft looks next year and whether it’ll be as weak as this one was but the assets we have now will be assets that are a year older next year and not as valuable. So, if at best we’re looking at a 6-8 seeding in the West next year with 45 wins, why go through all that just to get to a first round and out result? The Lakers sent a message with Artest that they are not done. The Spurs sent a message with Jefferson. The Mav’s are about to send a message with Kidd and Gortat (unless Magic match) and possibly Marion. NO is going to still be around and Portland will be better. I have a hard time seeing us competing with Nash, Amare, somebody in the middle and Barbosa off the bench. IMO, bring out the TNT.
But I could be wrong.
