Daily Links: Rubio chooses Spain over Frozen Wasteland
It is painfully hard to believe that the NBA (pre)season is still two full months away...good thing there's a top caliber basketball team playing this summer that no one seems to care about
- Ricky Rubio Will Stay In Spain | Hooped Up
Hmmmm, let's see. Pay $6m for the honor of leaving Spain to play in Minnesota? In retrospect this outcome was obvious. And for the record, I have family (wife's family) in Minnesota and I've been there in the winter time. We aren't talking about slightly unpleasant cold. We are talking about freezing your lips off within 30 seconds cold. Seriously. - Hardwood Paroxysm " Blog Archive " Nichols and Dime: Analyzing Changes in Shot Types Over the Course of a Game

Wow, great post!
Though I have some questions:
-Why the hate for Minnesota? I jogged with a sleeveless shirt yesterday and I live in North Dakota. Certainly didn’t freeze my lips, and chicks were checking me out, LICKING their lips. I’d appreciate less Midwest hate from this blog.
-Isn’t Goran more offense? I watched only one Suns game, and it was Summer League, against the D-League team, but he was better offensively than defensively in that game. Slovenia might not be great in the Big (Euro) Dance.
-Keep me updated on the Suns All Decade Team – 80’s swingmen that are now my bestfriend. I’m hoping Mike Sanders gets a look.
-Pussycat Doll Ashley Roberts is on hand to teach choreography if I am what?
-Can I get clarification that Courtney did something on the court? Two minutes and a turnover.
Thanks Stan!

Haters from the north
-I am fairly sure that August is not basketball season…even in the upper mid west. Having been there in January when it was -47 degrees, I think it is fair to say that Spain is the better choice (at least during basketball season). You can fight reality if you want but you know…reality is keeping it real
-Goran was asked to be more aggressive offensively in Vegas and let’s not forget it is the Suns we are talking about so defense is…you know. The kid does have a rep as defensive stopper which he earned by (allegedly) shutting down Tony Parker in some Euro match or other
-Don’t knock Sims contribution to the Suns. That turnover was big

that's a great article on andre.
i’ve always respected the guy, and he’s the model of consistency for the NBA. now knowing about where he came from, i have much more respect for him.
great article, timbo.
There no need for me to make the argument for like the 50th time
but this is one more reason why Chris Wallace is actually a good GM.
Don't feel bad, Channing. We can't rebound either.
for not taking Rubio?
I don’t have a problem with that for Memphis but if they aren’t going to take him and they didn’t need Harden (b/c they have Mayo) then why not trade down?

No, no, no
The Steven Hunter trade. Though I don’t have a lot of issues with the Thabeet pick either, because most of the high lottery picks this year were going to be a little overpriced, since this was more of a deep than stacked draft.
Don't feel bad, Channing. We can't rebound either.
True
that Hunter deal was smart for both sides….and btw Denver was brilliant in picking up Ty Lawson in this draft from Minnie

Yeah
Denver does well. I’m really interested in how Ty Lawson turns out since pretty all of the statistical draft prospect analysis said he was the top prospect.
Unfortunately, draft stats haven’t shown to be worth much up to this point.
Don't feel bad, Channing. We can't rebound either.
He's in a great situation
in Denver. He won’t have to start and do too much his rookie season playing behind Billups. Far better then being drafted by the Sixers or some other mediocre team that would ask him to do too much too soon and expose his weaknesses before he develops.
I really do think that point guards need to be given three years before judgment. There’s rare exceptions of course but that’s on both ends. I’m not sold on Chalmers despite what he did in Miami last season or even Westbrook for that matter. On the flip side look at Lowrey and Brooks. Those guys are both coming along slowly but doing very well in their roles.
