Daily Links: Where Barbosa is in Brazil and Taylor Griffin will be a Sun(?)
- The Official Phoenix Suns Blog " Blog Archive " Offseason Update
Taylor Griffin in negotiations with the Suns for the final roster spot? Really? I don't get this at all. Taylor was ok (OK...get it?) in Vegas but showed a distinct lack of offensive skill and is kind of stuck between the 3 and the 4. The team already has Clark and Dudley who are stuck between the 3 and the 4 and Amundson who is stuck between the 4 and a jump shot. I can't wait to hear why signing a cheap back up center (Johann Petro is available!) or another backup PG (remember Zabian Dowdell?) wouldn't have been a better option.....and while this article doesn't mention it, Alando Tucker told me in Vegas that Barbosa's girl friend had a daughter this summer making him Papi B - Revenge Of The Birds - Home of the NFC Champions!

Makes sense...
That the Suns would pay to have the less talented brother of a potential superstar on the team – I mean, at least with Griffin they don’t have to try and spew some line about how they think he’s going to be better than Blake (yes, I’m looking at you Fropez). I hear they are looking to see if Frank Stallone can replace Ceballos as MC and are asking both Harvey Grant and Gerald Wilkins if they would like to make a comeback. Paying for Griffin to be on the roster…regardless of whether he is there just to be a practice player or not…is just ridiculous! This move makes ABSOLUTELY ZERO SENSE from a basketball perspective or any other perspective. STUPID SUNS!
(I told you guys the other day that I reserve the right to move from optimism to pessimism as I please…believe me now?)
Agreed, signing Griffin is puzzling. I suppose though that means the FO has supreme confidence in Dragic and Barbosa backing up the point? Seems logical to keep another PG with an aging Nash and questionable ability of Dragic.
Either that or they thought they were signing Blake Griffin.
I’m also puzzled as to why anyone would want to see “private” images of Baron Davis.
Candid
photos of him and Nash probably. better to be hidden away.
Pedro Cerrano: Jesus, I like him very much, but he no help with curveball.
Eddie Harris: You trying to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?
Thing is it’s not like the 13th man is all that important. He’s not going to be in the rotation, and NBA Gods willing, we won’t have enough injuries to have to worry about Griffin getting on the floor.
On that note...
I’m declaring for the 2010 NBA Draft…I’m not quite NBA caliber but I’ll hustle in practice, give the fans somebody to root for while providing the occasional highlight dunk and work for cheep (as long as it’s over $50k). Come on Bright Siders…watdogg10 to the Suns in the second round!
is there a 5th round?

Apparently...
The Suns don’t care – they’ll take non-NBA players in the 2nd and pay them…which brings me back to my push to get drafted by the Suns in the 2nd round of the 2010 draft!
I'm not sure
why any reasonable person would play here when you can make more in Europe and live in Europe.
Don't feel bad, Channing. We can't rebound either.
Is Greece Europe?
Because I had gyros last night and they were really good

If you're lucky, you might be given a multi-million dollar contract
So that some trade salary figures could work out. You may have to move and take a physical and you may be a hardworking trade chip in a large number of trades.
Its a hard life, as Keith Van Horn knows.
Who are these guys again?
Oh by the way...
I love Amare’s blog post…looking forward to a great season from the old Chinese war strategist! At least if he’s in the game Taylor won’t be, right?
wow
way to set the bar high

In all seriousness...
I’m really looking for Amare to remind everyone that he is one of the top PFs in the game. One thing we know for sure is that he is motivated by money and ego. Both are on the line this season as he is in a contract year and has been a side-thought when people think of great big men in the league as of late. In fact, barring injury (which I agree is a big question mark), I predict that Amare will be All-NBA first or second team and be in the MVP discussion. He will be happier in an offense where he is the key guy and has lots of room to work and when he’s happy and involved he plays with more effort on both ends of the floor. No, he probably won’t be a DPOY candidate but he can be solid when he cares.
Maybe they thought it was Peter Griffin? At least that would sell jerseys!
Ugh. Just, ugh. As easy as it is to say the 13th man doesn’t matter, I’d feel a lot better if it wasn’t someone who looked bad against Summer League competition AND doesn’t fill a perceived need on the bench. A big or a point guard who never saw the light of day would at least demonstrate some semblance of basketball acuity from the FO. Courtney Sims, Johan Petro or even Zabian Dowdell would all be better signings.
I shudder to think of what images are on Baron Davis' laptop
and if they involve Step Brother Steve Nash in any way.
Who are these guys again?
IS it just me...
Or did that Suns blog update about Amare seem worrisome? They said it was worse that they thought? Hasn’t trained all summer? Only 7 weeks of conditioning under his belt? Uhhh……
Go read a book!
