Around SBN: Tobias Harris signs with Tennessee

Kobe Bryant: 5th most disliked person in sports, hated by 42%, leads NBA with Allen Iverson, Isaiah Thomas and Stephon Marbury in spots 6, 7 and 8. I can't believe John McEnroe comes in 10% with 31% hating on him. John McEnroe was simply great TV!

Best article I have read all year, hands down.

AI’s presence on the list surprised me. To me, AI is sort of like Shaq: game has regressed but ego hasn’t. You kind of enjoy watching him act stupid and screw up, unless he’s on your team. And again, I’m thankful that Shaq is no longer on my team.

Also I need to take these Forbes rankings with a grain (or a gigantic pile) of salt. I think they’re the same guys who ranked Kevin McHale as the best GM in the NBA.

Kobe annoys me only when he plays the Suns. AI never annoys me. I like how tough he is and he doesn’t bitch like the Manu Ginobili’s of the world. Tim Duncan totally annoys me because he thinks he’s never committed a foul. I vote all of the Spurs as most hated player(s).

I smell a poll here. We’ve already had what team do you hate most. I think it’s time to get personal with players.

If you do that

I’ll put $50 on Robert Horry.

Shaq is glad he’s not on your team too…..gotta love to be on a competitive team in your last couple seasons when you have had a career like he has. To compare AI to Shaq in such a manor is completely foolish. The Cavs and LeBron see Shaq (even at $21 million this year) as the missing peice for a championship. Iverson will be extremely lucky to get a 1 yr deal at the full MLE from a crappy team to play a back-up role. Yeah, AI is just like Shaq.

Wow, Kobe is most hated in NBA?

I can’t believe it. Really? The cocky, fake guy who seems as genuine a used car sales man? The one who bought off a girl so he could get away with rape? Man, who wouldn’t like him?

And John McEnroe was the man!

I must admit...

I’ve been reading many posts today in hopes of finding the dumbest, non-factual posting. SO far, you’re number one sir. Of course since you KNOW and have known KB personally and for many years we can all take your posting as 100% factual. He’s cocky and fake? Okay, so let us have some personal insight in the form of examples as to his fakeness and cockiness? Oh, I see, because he celebrates after hitting a winning shot or after winning a game by jumping up and down and smiles? Yeah,,, Kobe’s the ONLY player who does that. Additionally, since your post implies that you were his lawyer or part of his legal counsel when he was falsely accused by a young wannabee NBA groupie of rape though the evidence showed it was consensual and absolutely NO physical injuries were present on the “victim”, please post your evidence and facts of this “bought off …….” you wrote? Of course I’m responding with the same kind of narrowminded sarcasm that you posted b/c postings like yours no matter from whom show why some mandatory sterilization of certain citizens should be mandatory. IF you had bothered to actually research the “rape” as you believe it to be and it’s evidence, you might have found that this girl was not “bought off” to be quiet about it. The D.A. had to DROP the charges because the “victim” recanted her claim of rape when the realization came to her that KB was NOT going to just pay her off to shut up and GIVE IN to her blackmail. Also, the DA and his counsel staff, after examining all the physical evidence and after numerous interviews of the so called “victim” came to the conclusion that she’s not credible and a liar and were going to drop the charges even before the “victim” actually chickened out herself and told the D.A that she couldn’t handle being cross examined particularly when it was discovered the she had traces of 2 other mens’ semen in her panties along with KB’s. The bottom line is KB committed adultery and yes that’s a bad reflection on him at that time. However, when all evidence was in and it came time for the DA to make a decision to go ahead and try KB, they dropped the charges and to save face said the victim was unable and UNWILLING to get on the stand for crossexamination. Especially when she found out that her co-workers, friends and some family would be questioned on the stand in public and her very questionable and troublesome history and character would be revealed. I don’t know what the rumored “payoff” sum was or was for, but the fact is KB immediately turned himself in upon learning from hotel staff that this gold digger was crying rape to the coworkers at her front desk. Moreover the coworkers all told the DA that they did not see ANY tears and that her sobbing/crying appeared phony and forced. They all reported NO ripped clothing on her and ZERO visible bruises body welts, marks of physical struggle or coercion etc….. on EITHER of them. KB cooperated fully with the investigation and didn’t try to flee like OJ or Rae Carruth after they were accused of their crimes. The bottom line is although KB may have been immoral for his adultery, the DA realized they had a mentally unbalanced unreliable, lying and UNBELIEVABLE attention craving young girl who was not at all a sympathetic “rape” victim, but rather a wanna be Star groupie who consented too and then regretted her choice (especially when her co-workers had told of her bragging about how she was going to try and “get with” KB before he checked out of the hotel). Finally another co-worker was ready to testify that she at first did not seem upset at all the first moment he saw her returning from her tryst as he was the first one to see her after the act. He swears that only when she realized that most EVERYONE of her co-workers KNEW what she did and that it was suggested her current boyfriend might find out or had already found out about this “hookup” with KB did she suddenly begin “bursting into hysterics and claiming she was assaulted physically and then sexually” Anyways….. I apologize for the long post, its content ( which I in no way researched but actually invented, lol of course that was sarcastic!) , to all and particularly to KB’s best friend for decades and closest confidante Mr. “Max in Missouri” Please keep us informed when you get back from your daily visits and talks with KB sir, we’d appreciate it… sir! lol

Free Michael Vick?

Really? Number 1? Who did he kill again?

by Mike Lisboa on Aug 5, 2009 6:02 PM MDT reply actions   0 recs

I love that justification. It wasn't a person or people, just some dogs, so it's not so bad.

"Fun fact: Larry Hughes, who couldn’t stay healthy if all his human parts were replaced with bionic implants, is out for the next four weeks with a bruised leg. Do you think that Willis Reed ever reads about all these players missing time with bruises and sprained fingers and throws up in his mouth a little?"

Two sides to the argument

The DUI killing definitely had a worse result … no amount of dogs can ever equal a human.

On the other hand, Vick masterminded and bank-rolled his atrocities. It wasn’t an isolated result. It was pre-meditated, and then he lied about it. I think the depth and intracacies of activities is why Vick gets so villified. It’s not as if he had a tough dog and entered the dog in a fight or he simply went to a fight. I think that has a lot to do with it.

So, on the one hand you have a more egregrious result … on the other hand, you have an intricate plan of deviant behavoir.

I agree, no amount of dogs equal a human life.

However, dogs and other animals have nowhere near the cognitive ability that we enjoy as humans, so in my mind what he did is no better than planning and funding the torture of mentally retarded children.

You've lost me

“what he [Vick] did is no better than planning and funding the torture of mentally retarded children”

I think you typed too quickly. I’m confused by your use of the word “better” and am confused as to how dogs equate to developmentally disabled human beings. I’m pretty sure you didn’t want it to read this way.

That was poorly written on my part, yes.

Let me try to clarify. Dogs are similar to children with mental retardation in the sense that they can be easily taken advantage of by those of higher intelligence. I’m sorry if that seems callous or insensitive, but from my experience, is true.

Manny-mania

I was surprised to see Manny Ramirez so high, but being in his home market, my view of the general public’s perception of him is probably a little skewed. I can tell you that in LA, the suspension only made him more popular. At a Dodgers game the other night, only one person got a louder ovation than Manny: Fernando Valenzuela.

McEnroe

The only reason he’s not higher is because it happened so long ago and he’s been able to spoof himself in the recent past.
