Daily Links: What do Shawn Marion and G.W. Bush have in common?

Answer: Neither live in Arizona (but I am only sad about that regarding one of them)

Shawn Marion's New Neighborhood - SB Nation
Oh Shawn, why couldn't you have just come back to Phoenix where you neighbors would be normal people like Charles Barkley and Alice Cooper?

Stan, if you couldn’t resist politicizing a post on a basketball website, I think you were stuck for something to write. I see it elsewhere, of course, but not from the moderators.

As for Shawn Marion, if I knew whether he had grown up and would get along with Amare Stoudemire, I’d love for him to come back. If not, why bring back the problem that forced his trade?

by lonesomepoint on Sep 10, 2009 12:51 PM MDT reply actions

As even Shawn can see, he put up his best numbers here in phoenix because of the aid of the system and Steve Nash. I think if he put that in perspective, he could very well return to superstardom in phoenix, but that will most likely never happen again in his career. :(

Your opinion

has been duly noted and filed as appropriate….btw, I am not sure what you mean by “moderator” but that is not at all what this site is about. This isn’t a democracy. I am not a facilitator. I am not here to be “fair and balanced”.

Hey, is this the point where I should type “you do know how the rest of the world views GW Bush, right?”

We specialize in misinformation around here. Facts and stats just get in the way.

"world view"?

It was slightly clever —

either an insult to Bush or a sarcastic comment about Phoenicians. Plus, it shows a lilttle of our “Prodigal Sun” angst. I thought it was a pretty good shotgun blast to catch so many celebrities with one quip.

Somebody is way too wrapped up in the healthcare debate to take that sentence as political commentary.

I’m referring to P-Stan’s comment over at PtR about Bruce Bowen. Not so much clever in it.

ahhh...

clever, based on a joke of which I have no knowledge.

the healthcare remark wasn’t aimed at you, but I didn’t want to do another post because I’m lazy

Point taken. I’d go elsewhere, but unfortunately, I don’t know a Suns forum with more news than this one. I guess all I can do about political abuse of a sports website is to not commit it myself.

So now I’m waiting for the axe to finally drop. Off with his head!

I'd prefer off with his hands

At least then I wouldn’t have to read another one of these whiny, woe is me posts.

a fascist and a liberal?? =D

Noble prize winning idea from the 1930 by Ronald Coase: If democracy is so great, why does capitalism depend on corporate dictatorships?

at least the companies running the country are operating because the citizens buy their stuff

and, there are several “dictators” through the various intrerest groups. I’m pretty sure you can’t have more than one dictator, by definition.

so, you’ve got a group of organizations (run by various persons, not a despot) that are around because the citizenry patronizes them. there are worse forms of government

true. Kakistocracy is always the worst government. By definition.

This season will be even better as long as I'm drinking while watching!

Lamenting the Suns

I have seen several mentions around the web on ‘neutral" sites mourning the loss of 7SOL—it is kind of weird, but when you’ve been on board the bandwagon for decades it hits you a bit differently. I guess It was pretty sweet for “my team” to be the nation’s darlings for a few years there, but mostly those are years that you hope for as a fan—that your team is a legitimate title contender. Watching them win 75% of their games sure makes for a nice season of viewing, I’ll say that.

I’ll tell you what, too, I’d LOVE for Dubya to live in my neighborhood—watching him walk his dog home while carrying a bag of crap would never get old.

The Lynx have the slightly easier schedule since they face the Monarchs and the injury depleted Storm while the Silver Stars also have the Monarchs and yet another crack at the Sparks.

Hm, no, our last game is against the Storm.

oops

I got that backwards then….not sure anyone else would have noticed! ha! Well then it looks you you’ve got the easier sched since the Storm are beat to hell right now

My favorite line of that article:

“if you’re rich in Texas, well, you’re probably going to have some pretty unfortunate neighbors.”
