Wow

the stats in that Steve Nash/HOF post were profoundly awful. I mean, I’m open to the idea that Nash isn’t a HOFer, but the way that fellow used numbers was distractingly awful.

Don't feel bad, Channing. We can't rebound either.

LOL!

Isiah thomas averaged better numbers when he wasn’t in his prime… I just think that’s funny for some reason!

I know i'm biased but..

Steve is one of the top 10 PG of all time. He’s getting in.

If anything gets him in

It’ll be the 2 time MVP and his shooting percentages. I personally think that Steve Nash should be in the HOF

I don’t think a single season should tell the tale, but last years 50/50/90 should mean something when combined with the 2 MVP’s.

I think what really gets him in though is his consistency and longevity on the court combined with his his attitude as a human being-putting his teammates first, along with his global humanitarian activity and concerns. It’s all a package that should be weighed together. This guy has and always will be a class act. The NBA can easily point to him and say, "we want every player to be like Steve Nash."

I’m thinking you are referring to his 50/40/90 season for shooting percentages? Didn’t he do that the past 3 seasons???

by SunsFTW on Sep 17, 2009 2:17 PM MST up reply actions

Meh. guy makes a good point

But Nash was the man of his time – 2 MVPs speaks to that his intangibles and I see no reason to let stats mark the end-all-be-all of basketball discussion, and by extension the HOF.

The guys argument is basically taking individual stats and showing that Nash doesn’t particularly lead any, except for his outrageous shooting percentage. However, let’s not lose sight that Nash is, even so, statistically in the cloud of greats.

I agree with Will that what will bring him in is the total package, and its impact on the collective psyche. Nash’s inclusion will be a nod to O Canada and will be about the uniqueness of his play style and what he brought to the game.

We really don’t need another 20 point scorer in the HoF.

This season will be even better as long as I'm drinking while watching!

That guys whole argument is like this:

My argument – I’m so damn lazy that I just point out:

40th in All-time Likelihood by BasketBall-Reference. The model considers both stats and awards, as well as information on players who are not in the HOF. It also considers height, which is not in Nash’s favor. Such a model moves me more than some guys complaining about a PG’s lack of stats and fails mentions the epic turnaround, on the court and in the hearts and minds of basketball, that Nash was apart of.

This season will be even better as long as I'm drinking while watching!

[OT] The Suns should have done anything to grab Rubio via trade

even though he won’t come until 2011.
While we hold out hope that Dragic will become our PG of the future, Rubio (already known for his playmaking skills) just butchered Tony Parker on the Eurobasket quarter-finals.
I’m a huge fan of Rubio, but I couldn’t believe he will beat Parker. The Spur finished with 6 points (1 of 6 from 2 point range, 0 of 2 from 3 point range and 4 of 5 from the free throw line), 3 assists and 3 turnovers.
The Spainiards, who were playing back to back elimination games (plus a flight from Lodz to Katowice), crushed the French (who had one day of rest) 86-66. Boris Diaw finished with 9 points (3 of 4 from 3 point range), 6 rebounds, 2 assists and 3 turnovers.
