I watched

I mean … San Antonio was playing.
This was the first time I had watched in a long time. Barkley, on the sidelines, said the players are much better than the first incarnation and the league deserves a second chance. He’s probably right.

I liked the movement and the fact that the players are all ball-handlers and passers (at least on the Mercury) to some degree or another. Sort of like Dutch “Clockwork Orange” sides and their 3-5-2 formations and those sorts of things. I wonder, though, whether this only works due to the lack of a dominant physical presence (which is not the same as a dominant player).

Mmmmm ... Guinness

good question

we will see in the next round…

SA is a good team but they are small and while they played hard they are not physical and tough…

LA is much bigger and more physical. That series will be different (or Phx will win for sure!)

Detroit is another team that is very physical and the Merc beat them in the finals in 2007 btw.

Glad you enjoyed the game. Let me know if you want to come out on Friday or Sunday. Its even better in person.

I have to admit

I’m one of these readers that when stan puts up Mercury related links, I immediately skip over them. In fact, sometimes I think stan must have lost his mind to be watching this stuff.

However, when I saw the post for the game last night, I ended up watching ( san antonio, and all ) and it was a great game. It was alot of fun to watch, in part due to the fact that it was a bizarro version of suns vs. spurs.. with breasts.

So thanks stan for pushing this down our throats, you won over one more fan. I’ll be watching the next round for sure, and I’ll have to try to make a game next season next time I’m in town.

BEAT LA! BEAT LA! BEAT LA!

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

This is really sweet. Take out SA, now its time to mop up with LA.

If any Mercury team can win it all, it’s this team. The assemblage of talent on this squad is insane.

DT is simply a star. It’s as if, at times, she’s at another level than the rest of the players on the floor. Penny Taylor is just a plain smart ball player. And Cappie, she’s like the glue that holds it all together, she is fearless.
