This is Kerr’s biggest decision yet. Whatever he does; if it doesn’t turn out well than he’s fired.

Wait, that might actually be a good thing. Well, never-mind, Sarver doesn’t know what he’s doing either.

Fired...

I find this idea quite amusing. What promote Griffin? Someone else? I don’t see it. I don’t see how blaming Kerr for the ambiguity of Amar’e’s career does anything.

Amare only walks if the ownership group doesn’t want to outbid another suitor. Amare will go to the highest bidder and the Suns retain that right. If they choose not too, its on the whole ownership group, not just the GM.

BTW, Kerr is not just a GM, he’s also an owner. He will not be fired anytime soon and not for this.

Where are all those Golden State Warriors trolls now?

And yes, my certainty on the topic actually does come from not knowing anything about the topic.

Not knowing anything is the only way you can be certain about anything…

They should definitely try and trade him

The guy is a really good player, but is overrated. He puts up 20 and 9 and gets paid 16 mil a year(probably going to go up in free agaency). Corey Maggette puts up 20 and 6 in less minutes and gets paid half that. The Suns should trade him while his value is high. Besides, the Suns are honestly not going to contend with the Spurs and Lakers in the playoffs this year. Suns should get trade Amare and get some good pieces to keep buliding off of.

Not really bud

The Suns probably value Amare more than what he is worth. A lot of it has to do with his athleticism and how fun it is to watch him. He’s not a very good rebounder for what he is capable of, and same goes for his defense. But really the guy is about the same as Al Jefferson(but more athletic and not as good a rebounder), which is not a bad thing because that means he is a very good player, just not up to the hype that he is given.

Go ahead and take a look at Maggettes numbers this year and they are right up there with Amares numbers and in less minutes and less shots.

by duballers23 on Jan 19, 2010 5:15 PM MST up reply actions

You could argue that this season Maggette is the more efficient player, he is having his best year ever. Stat puts up 20 and 9 in a high pace system. Good but nothing to write home about.

Let’s compare:
Maggette 22.38 PER, 64.9 TS%, 11.5% Rebound Rate, 12.2% TO Rate
Stoudamire 20.54 PER, 61.4 TS%, 14.1% Rebound Rate, 12.6% TO Rate

This year the two are remarkably comparable. Sure Maggette plays on the wing more but this makes the fact his TS and Rebound % are better or close to Amares more remarkable.

Someone should do some research but when was the last time a team won a championship when their best big man had a 31 inch waist. I like Amare, love his mid range game, athelticism. But if the Suns give him any more than 14 million they are really stupid and are potentially setting themselves up for a crippling cap situation in the future when all that money is guaranteed and Stat cares about rebounding and defense even less than in his contract year. Really good offensive 4. Not much else. Plus a history of injuries.

The Warriors would be better with Amare in place of Maggete.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 19, 2010 5:18 PM MST reply actions

That's true

but for half the price it’s better than having to give up assets for Amare when Maggette puts up near equal production.

by duballers23 on Jan 19, 2010 5:26 PM MST up reply actions

Apples to Oranges

Maggette is not a PF, you can’t compare a 6’5 player to one that is 6’10, seriously dude

With who to get Stat the ball? He isn’t particularly great at getting his own shot off as he relies on athelticism a ton.

I agree.

Chris Hunter? Devean George?

SERIOUS talent right there.

Warriors Trade

I would trade Amare for a deal revolving around Randolph or Wright. Preferably Wright, he has put up good numbers in limited minutes and seems to have a very high upside. to make the salaries work Biedrens and Turiaf would probably have to be included which I would be fine with. If they could get a pick on top of this… awesome.

by Superelkman on Jan 22, 2010 8:26 AM MST up reply actions

Hmmm

Suns shouldnt trade Amare, IMO, but if they do we need youth and defense above everything. Nothing, absolutely nothing on the Warriors is worth Amare right now. I like a Bulls trade or Houston at best…maybe Heat if they will swing it. Preferable nothing in the Pacific though. We dont want to see him much thats for sure. Suns players have a tendency of doing remarkably well once we trade them…

Reading is good...

I think penny-pinching Sarver will trade Amar’e for a six-pack of Diet Dr. Pepper, because it tastes just like regular Dr. Pepper. That is all.

I don't think he's a max player anymore, but I'll definitely miss him if he goes.

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."
