Around SBN: Stan Van Gundy Fired As Head Coach Of The Magic

Eddy Curry and J. Jeffries

If we took Curry and Jeffries back in a Stoudemire trade with the Knicks, don't you think they'd give us ENOURMOUS value for him just to get them of their books.

Lets face it, if we have to trade STAT then we're not going to get much value for him because he might opt out but to the Knicks he's valuable because he's likely to stay there. And you might be thinking that we shouldn't pick Curry and Jeffries up because of their huge contracts, but after this summer they become huge EXPIRING contracts, possibly the most valuable type of contract.

So here's my trade suggestion:

Suns Get: Eddy Curry, J. Jeffries, Wilson Chandler, David Lee, Toney Douglas, Jordan Hill

Knicks Get: Amar'e stoudemire, Jason Richardson.

Suns do it because they get young talent in Chandler, Douglas and Hill (and Lee if he stays). Knicks do it because they replace two completely unproductive players for Richardson (and he's got a smaller contract than Curry+ Jeffries combined) and get Stoudemire to boot. Hell they might not even listen to who they're trading for and just say yes when they hear we're offering to take Jeffries and Curry of their hands.

There’s no way the Knicks do this deal. Walsh is a smart guy.

I do think the Knicks would take Stoudemire as a consolation prize ...

But there’s no way they do this until they know for sure they can’t get LeBron.

I would do this

But only if we had some kind of assurance that Lee would re-sign.

Really? Please elaborate.

I think D’Antoni thought that Stoudemire could be a better player than he is, and Stoudemire never lived up to D’Antoni’s expectations. That’s just my 2 ducats.

The Knicks have LeBron squarely in their site. Until LeBron says “Thanks, but no thanks” they aren’t making any deals that eat up cap space.

We would love Ama're buuutttt

Walsh isnt going to give up our entire youth (Chandler, Douglas, Hill) to get him. However, we’d part with one of them. Simply imagining that Phoenix would consider taking BOTH Curry and Jefferies just caused my to change my drawers though.

Believe it or not, we are in an interesting spot. It’s no secret that we want He Who Shall Not Be Named (we’ve collectively banned mentioning a certain Akron player’s name until the summer), but he has said time and again that he wouldn’t come to a team that is rebuilding. He wants to step in and be ready to roll. We actually have some talent and aren’t as far away from a huge turnaround as our record indicates (nevermind that Mavericks game…)

It looks like NY is probably gonna buy out Eddy Curry, so maybe we could somehow dish you Jared ‘Starbucks" Jefferies, Al Harrington, Chris Duhon (both expirings)? I have no idea if this works moneywise for STAT, but Chris Duhon is a wonderful guy off the court. He does tons of charity work, helps senior citizens across the street, and he recently took up carpentry. He has quickly become a master bricklayer and the quality of home he can produce is uncanny. He’s really good. And he loves Phoenix. Please take him. We’ll throw in a puppy to be named later too. You like puppies in Phoenix, right?
