Let's get a win

Because if we manage to some how lose this one it could be a tough pill to swallow for even the most die hard Suns fan.

Barbosa

Getting the surgery done.

we're here

we’re just not very good.

actually we’re kinda terrible

by ArizonaCactus on Jan 23, 2010 7:15 PM MST reply actions

Yea, we have to win this.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 7:23 PM MST reply actions

Holy crap, the Warriors are missing half their team.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 7:24 PM MST reply actions

Lopez

Playing a lot better, but I still don;t like that he brings the ball so low on rebounds. Got to kick that bad habit.

by AcucracK on Jan 23, 2010 7:31 PM MST reply actions

There doing a good job on Amare, but we look a little intimidated out there. The Warriors look like the aggressor; not us. That’s how it what last night.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 7:38 PM MST reply actions

the way we have been playing we could actually lose to a d-league team

so all bets are off. my money is on the suns taking another one for granted

Crashing the [message] boards from the heart of Spurs Nation, San Antonio, Texas. GO SUNS!

Anthony Morrow

Can anyone tell me what’s so special about Anthony Morrow? I’m not very familiar with him, and I’ve heard that the Golden State Pacifists love him for some reason, that in any trade with the Suns, they would refuse to offer him.

by species8473 on Jan 23, 2010 7:45 PM MST reply actions

He’s a very good shooter. 48, 44, 90.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 7:52 PM MST up reply actions

Anthony Tolliver

just stole a rebound from Amare cuz Amare was lazy.

shocked***

by ArizonaCactus on Jan 23, 2010 7:54 PM MST reply actions

Tolliver looks good..

6’9" with like a 9 million foot wingspan and an outside shot

by MMotherwell on Jan 23, 2010 7:56 PM MST reply actions

the Nash Amare

pick-n-roll has been figured out and doesn’t work so well anymore (at least consistently)

by ArizonaCactus on Jan 23, 2010 7:58 PM MST reply actions

I think the main problem

Is that Stoudemire is going to the rim too tentatively and tries to dribble first, and he’s just a terrible ballhandler.

by jburning on Jan 23, 2010 8:00 PM MST up reply actions

defenses

collapse on it too and stoudemire has nowhere to go and a turnover ensues
nothing in the nba can last forever….we just don’t have anything else

by ArizonaCactus on Jan 23, 2010 8:06 PM MST up reply actions

ok---this is ridiculous

whenever Steve Nash is on the floor our defense is absolutely horrible

I mean, it’s not good to begin with, but seriously

we’re making the Warriors look like the damn Cavaliers.

I really wish we had our first round pick

by ArizonaCactus on Jan 23, 2010 7:59 PM MST reply actions

Were getting out-played on both ends. This team just doesn’t have it anymore. I think a trade is the best thing. Bring in new blood.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:00 PM MST reply actions

J-Rich, Hill and Lopez are playing well out there, but we need someone else to step up.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:01 PM MST reply actions

Every game from now on

Is an exhibition game for Lopez, Clark, and Dragic. I’m assuming the Suns will lose every game for the rest of the season.

by jburning on Jan 23, 2010 8:01 PM MST reply actions

Are you trying to parody the doomsayers? Because expecting a team other than the Nets to lose 37 straight games after this is ridiculous.

by species8473 on Jan 23, 2010 8:10 PM MST up reply actions

I was being facetious.

But also, I’d much rather expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised, than have high expectations and be thoroughly disappointed.

by jburning on Jan 23, 2010 8:14 PM MST up reply actions

Thats just the way it looks. It’s almost like they’ve given up. They’re not fighting anymore.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:02 PM MST reply actions

Steve Nash

needs a week off, just like the Spurs, when they rest Duncan, Parker, and Ginobili intermittently throughout the year

of course, they still win when they rest their best players because they have a clear system and know what they are gonna do. and they play defense

by ArizonaCactus on Jan 23, 2010 8:04 PM MST reply actions

What’s good about Lopez, is almost all of his points are put-backs or free throws. He gets no plays called for him.

by jburning on Jan 23, 2010 8:05 PM MST reply actions

You guys...

Glass 10% empty!

We’ll make the playoffs. From there we really need to just get lucky.

by MMotherwell on Jan 23, 2010 8:06 PM MST reply actions

disagree

every other team in the west (includiing OKC, Memphis, and even to a degree NO) is better than us in too many ways

by ArizonaCactus on Jan 23, 2010 8:07 PM MST up reply actions

So?

That 14-3 start is killer. We’ll go .500 from here on out, and that’ll get us into the playoffs.

by MMotherwell on Jan 23, 2010 8:09 PM MST up reply actions

.500 from here on out

won’t make the playoffs. not in the west. too many teams that are gonna be good. plus our conference record won’t be very good so we’ll lost tiebreakers.

if we play .500 from here on out we end up with a record of 44-38. NO WAY that makes the playoffs, since we didn’t last year with an even better record than that I believe.

by ArizonaCactus on Jan 23, 2010 8:14 PM MST up reply actions

Our team isn’t hungry. Thats the problem. They depend too much on their shot.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:08 PM MST reply actions

+1

But what else can they do? Find a trade http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine that:
1. Makes us better THIS year.
2. Makes us better in the future.

It ain’t easy!

The problem is we’ve traded 3 great defenders (Marion, Bell, Diaw) and got no one left who can defend. Lou is too small to be a great defender, and Lopez to raw.

by MMotherwell on Jan 23, 2010 8:12 PM MST up reply actions

This team is so sad.

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

by rsavaj on Jan 23, 2010 8:12 PM MST reply actions

You gotta stop watching the game with the expectation or hope of their winning.

The games are kind of entertaining if you just watch and enjoy things like Lopez’s 12 points and 7 rebounds in 18 minutes.

by jburning on Jan 23, 2010 8:13 PM MST up reply actions

Lopez is looking good.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:13 PM MST up reply actions

exactly

W doesnt change much…

lopez is doing great, he looks to be our most consistant player in last 5-6 games…

I just wish we had someone else in the office besides Kerr and Sarver.

Well, Lets hope we can come out with energy in the 2nd half. Thats all we need to do. We come out with energy and have a big quarter than we win.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:12 PM MST reply actions

It all started with the Kurt Thomas trade.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:12 PM MST reply actions

Thats when our team went on the downfall.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:13 PM MST up reply actions

Disagree...

That was a pretty good trade. I dunno about you, but $16+ million (8 +8 luxury tax) is a LOT of cash to save.

The real tragedy was not signing Joe Johnson to 5 years $45 million as an early extension. That was the big fruck up (although, if we had pick 4 in 2007 and got Noah or, even better, Al Horford, that trade might still have been OK).

by MMotherwell on Jan 23, 2010 8:15 PM MST up reply actions

poor Kurt Thomas

Coach Gentry’s predecessor refused to make full use of Kurt Thomas anyway. He could have been an invaluable resource, our best frontcourt defender other than Shawn Marion. And of course the officials loved calling fouls on Thomas. I’ve heard that it was because of his eyes.

by species8473 on Jan 23, 2010 8:16 PM MST up reply actions

If we kept Kurt we than the Shaq trade wouldn’t have happened.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:16 PM MST up reply actions

That was our biggest problem in that season before we made the big trade. We couldn’t rebound the ball. We were #1 in the west, but lost to the good teams because we couldn’t rebound. If we kept Kurt than our record would’ve been even better and we would’ve had a real shot at the Championship.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:18 PM MST up reply actions

I hope you're not saying the Thomas trade was good.

It was one of the worst in the history of this team. We gave the Thunder/Supersonics an unprotected first round pick in a year in which we might not even make the playoffs. We could have started rebuilding for real, then had a nice lottery pick to help us along our way.

by jburning on Jan 23, 2010 8:17 PM MST up reply actions

SarvKerr ignored the cardinal rule

ALWAYS USE PROTECTION!

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." They’re just too inexperienced.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:18 PM MST up reply actions

I am saying it made sense

$16 million is $16 million. Only ONE team had space, and that was the Sonics. They didn’t need to make that trade, we did. If I was the sonics, I would’ve just said no to any protection.

by MMotherwell on Jan 23, 2010 8:18 PM MST up reply actions

It’s like they just accepted that they suck when they really aren’t this bad.

by Beavis 25 on Jan 23, 2010 8:20 PM MST reply actions

Every team has flat patches..

Lets hope we come out swinging post all-star break when LB gets back.

by MMotherwell on Jan 23, 2010 8:20 PM MST reply actions

Our flat patch has been more than half of our season so far.

by rsavaj on Jan 23, 2010 8:21 PM MST up reply actions

True...

But 14-3? If we go 34-35 in the remaining games, we end up 46-38. I doubt with LB back and playing well we’ll be that bad.

by MMotherwell on Jan 23, 2010 8:23 PM MST up reply actions

It's possible.

Although it would a sad, sad thing if we ended up with a worse record than last year’s “disappointing” team.

by jburning on Jan 23, 2010 8:24 PM MST up reply actions

What do we have to lose?

By playing hungry young guys like Dragic, Lopez, and Clark 25-30 minutes a night from here on out?

Stoudemire is dispassionate

I’m only now noticing Amare Stoudemire’s unfortunate coolness. It’s like putting President Obama on the court. I wonder whether his lack of passion has started to negatively affect the locker room, as Shawn’s Marion’s disgruntlement did. Years ago, Stoudemire said that he used basketball as an outlet for his childhood/adolescent rage over his upbringing. He must not be angry anymore.

Steve Kerr's Revenge

Hello. I realize everyone knows this, but I would like to add my voice: Goran Dragic and Robin Lopez are the future. The future! Mr. Steve Kerr still looks bad for trading Kurt Thomas, but for his recent draft selections, he’s looking rather good right now.

by species8473 on Jan 23, 2010 11:17 PM MST reply actions

Not quite ready to annoint them legitimate ballers in the league, but they certainly have the capability to play well. Gotta see if they can do it consistently.

Which is why Barbosa’s injury and Frye’s slump are good things, in a way. Now Dragic and Lopez can get 25+ minutes a night every night. Maybe Clark can even get 10-15 minutes a night on a regular basis.
