Burning Heat Blow by Fizzling Suns 123-96

There's not much to say about this game. The Heat just out-played Phoenix in all areas. Nothing was going well for the Suns from the start-finish. The biggest thing was the lack of energy. The effort was there as evidenced by a 3rd quarter run led by Grant Hill that cut a 24 point lead down to 12. Of course, the energy to maintain that effort didn't last. These Suns are tired and they made me tired just watching them.

Certainly wasn't what we were hoping for, but oh well, just got to suck it up and move on. I got to give some credit to the Heat who played some excellent defense, took the Suns out of their game and ran them off the 3-point line. They scrapped, they clawed, they hustled and took good care of the ball. Everything the Suns were suppose to do.

This was obviously the worst performance we've seen from our team this season, but it was due to happen sometime soon. Lets be real here; it takes a tremendous amount of energy to not only out-run your opponents, but to out-work your opponents night in and night out. Not having a center doesn't help either. Because of that there will be nights like this. There will be nights when the energy just isn't there. We can certainly check this as one of those nights.

To leave you on a good note. This Suns team is battle-tested, perhaps more than anyone else. They've been the first to walk into the fire and they'll be the first to walk through it.

Highlights

  • Grant Hill had a nice showing. Only 15 points, but he was aggressive attacking the rim which resulted in making all 9 of his attempts from the free throw line.
  • I thought Turk had a decent showing with 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assist in 24 minutes. He showed some aggressiveness and took advantage of mismatches.
  • Chris Bosh was brutal. 12-17, 35 points and 11-11 from the free throw line. Of course 3/4's of his jump-shots were all open.
