Why Memphis does it: They make room for Marc Gasol, Zach Randolph, in the front court.  They get a back SF/SG in to fill in the hole left by Mayo who provides a better mismatch on the perimiter.  They get loaded in picks,  which has been a Memphis favorite for years now...

I recognize that Memphis probably wouldn't go for it. However there have been rumors that both Thabeet and Mayo are available recently. Let me know what you think...
