Eutychus Weekly Recap Rap: Dec.19-26
HOLLA BRIGHT SIDERS!
So now that I'm basically doing nothing except work for the man until I can get into a graduate school... I've decided to integrate two things that I love - making music and the Phoenix Suns.
Go ahead and let me know what you think, rec, comment, pass it along - and please leave a comment and rate the video on my youtube channel as well so I can get some of that Youtube love. Heck, while you're at it subscribe if you're down with that.
This is a big test so be honest - let me know what you think and if you'd like more of this in the future. If I get a enough of a positive response I will continue to make these weekly.
Who knows... maybe your name and comments might make appearances in my future recaps.
P.S. - the Lyrics are in the video description if you want to follow along
PEACE

You have just joined the ranks of the BAMF’s. Talent, wit, and brains is a pretty good combination – if you’re good looking too, I hate you.

give one cent of credit to a Yahoo or ESPN trade rumor. For me, Yahoo is not a news organization and therefore has no journalistic integrity. Nothing would surprise me with Otis Smith, but I think they realize how valuable J-Rich is after a few games and if they do trade him it I doubt it would be for the French Pastry.

I don't respect anyting Yahoo does
Two of their “reporters” have called me out, by name, in a pathetic attempt at a personal attack.
What makes yahoo a reliable source for information? Because they said so? What dues have they paid? Big deal they headhunted a few people from legitimate publications.
So woj has some phone numbers. I lost any respect for him when he clearly shows his personal biases towards certain teams/players. That’s not journalism.

I am really impressed with your talent level….You have are pretty good at this…and I could tell you did this in a short amount of time. Coming from someone that had a fledging (I do mean fledging…!) house music dream at one time, you had more ability than I could have ever hope to have…I am straight jealous!

Steve Nash, the league's MVP, is a longhaired Canadian who spoke out against the war in Iraq and reads The Communist Manifesto. Quentin Richardson declared after a game-winning shot that it "was like Hamlet. It was a suspense thriller, and I killed them at the end." Amare Stoudemire, when asked to comment on a 22-point third quarter against the Kings, said, "I've got a tendency to jump over some guys' heads and throw it down."

I guess I have to be the one hater...
and say I’m not feeling this at all. On the third time I was able to get all the way through. However, I’ve been listening to hip hop for over 25 years and seen almost every MC, DJ, or group worth seeing so my opinion is slightly jaded. Your passion for the Suns and writing lyrics is evident so keep having fun with it.
Nonetheless, even your beginner effort is better then these will ever be.

But it is hard to tell context in typed words. Just one person’s opinion, nothing more. Letting him know where I am coming from because I found that when I do something creative it is hard to get anybody to be honest on what they really think.

Thanks for being honest - I do appreciate that
What about it aren’t you feeling? At least as a hip hop aficionado you should be able to appreciate the fact that it was written, recorded and produced in a total of about 8 hours on a laptop with equipment and software totaling something in the vicinity of $300. If that doesn’t take away some of the hater you’ll be a tough cookie to appease indeed :)

my god ollie, its a Sun's blog recap rap...
I’ve been listening to hip hop for over 25 years and seen almost every MC, DJ, or group worth seeing so my opinion is slightly jaded.
Take this for what it is… I don’t think Eut did this expecting it to go viral and get signed like everyone’s “favorite” artist Justin Bieber. Or were you Eut?:) I think you did a great job, just wish the lyrics could incorporate a few more winning games, what a bad week to recap:) Eut, maybe you should rent some recording studio space for your next recap to get some better production value (only kidding). reccd.
He asked my opinion.
I gave it. If he did not ask I would not have said anything. I let him know that I listen to hiphop most of my life and seen a ton of shows because other people were saying that they don’t listen to hiphop.
I think it comes off as snobby because one might infer that I think my opinion is better, but that is why I said “slightly jaded”
by oLLiE Boombayay on Dec 28, 2010 5:33 PM MST up reply actions
"Tough cookie"
Is being kind. I stated that because it let’s you know where I am coming from with my opinion. Not to imply my opinion is somehow more valuable. If someone gives you props that doesn’t listen to hiphop it may not be very useful to you.
Indeed I do appreciate that you did this in your off time as a way to vent and have fun. That is why I said keep doing it. I wish I had time to do the video mixes of suns highlights like I see other fans do with their team. It might help with my disdain for Suns management trading 3/4 of my favorite players after giving the Lakers a run for their money for a trip to the Finals.
As far as your question about what I wasn’t feeling I guess it would be subject matter and it reminds me of the countless demos I’ve heard over the years where the MC was taking himself seriously with all his homies blowing up his ego. I’m no music critic so it is tough to put into words why you like or dislike something. Ask somebody why they like hip hop and you get a blank stare and generic answer.
On a somewhat unrelated note check out how this dude synched MJ highlights with Kool Keith song and Kool Keith talking smack on NBA ballers off the court. There’s another KK song with funnier NBA lyrics, but I can’t remember the title.

I appreciate the effort. I am not a hip hop afficiondo per se, more of a R&B man, but it was a welcome change. I look forward to more of this. The lyrics covering Earl Clark made me wonder " did we go wrong there"?
On a serious note, I am officailly conceding this season and any meaningful progress towards a championship ring( OK, I understand it was wishful thinking in the first place, but still.. I am a fan and will remain one forever) .
Probably we may sneak into the playoffs as an 8th seed, but what is the use? Realistically, we will not progress further, whereas others (who are out of the playoffs) stand to gain , merely because they are not in playoffs and stand a better chance to get better draft picks and start a rebuilding process or consolidate their position.
The last loss at LA makes me write this post. Honestly, I was under the impression that with the more friendly schedule we have going forward, now is the time we will finally establish our identity, what with the so called defensive additions in MG and MP, and I really wanted this team to finally turn the corner and play like a serious contender. but I am inclined to believe that this will not happen at least this season. We may celebrate the victories, especially if it comes against the Lakers, Spurs , Mavs et al but deep in my heart, I feel that will be all. I don’t think most of the top teams take us seriously and they have understood how to withstand our 3 point throw ups and how to break us down systematically. I still do not see any kind of defensive set ups and efforts on that end. To put it simply I do not see any tem play, be it offensively or defensively(oops, pardon me for using the term ). I do see the second unit which is the ghost of what it was the last season. In that context , I seriously think Clips and Twolves are faring better. At leat they realize what they are and play within their limitations and manage to eke out wins.To add up, I see the other WC teams systematically going up the ladder as far as the standing goes…
Probably the fact that I made myself wake up at 2.30 in the morning and sat through the entire last game, following it up in my BB , and to finally lose sleep thinking about the coulda/shoulda/woulda in that game broke the back. But seriously, I was expecting a much better showing from this team and as a fan I am disappointed . And as a fan , I will hate every defeat and will be sceptical about every victory( being a sun fan)
Deep in my heart , I hope and pray the team will prove me wrong.
Wishing all the fellow BSOTSian ladies and gentlemen a Happy, peaceful and prosperous New Year
Great post - you're probably not alone in your line of thinking
I honestly understand that feeling of abjection, it’s hard not to feel like that when it seems like the team can’t put a complete 4 quarter effort together.
But that’s just it – I can’t remember the last game that this team has played a complete game to the best of their ability. Is that because guys aren’t trying hard? Alvin Gentry suggests that might be part of the problem. But the reason I believe that this team isn’t hitting stride quite yet is because they haven’t had stability. Basically the first 25 games this season were a giant rotation experiment, it’s still going on in a way – and with the 3-man trade, we’ll still be fiddling with which line-ups work the best and which players compliment each other most effectively. Until we figure that out – we can’t put together a complete game.
I find hope for this season in that seeming negative. How? Because it means we haven’t seen what this team can really do (we’ve seen flashes of it, when the pick and roll is working – when players are defensively focused and aware, when open shots are being effectively created and made and when the team is just playing with intensity and passion). At any point this team could snap the mojo together and hit their peak, play to their fullest potential. If they do that and make the playoffs (at whatever seeding), there is always a punchers chance that they can beat any team.

Nice post...
I agree, with the way we are currently built there is no use in holding out hope for a championship. But I am awaiting our 2nd trade before the deadline before I officially concede all hope for this season. If we pull off a trade that gets us an interior force from the 4, then I think we will go right back to having as good of a shot as any other team out there.

The thing is, if we get Elton Brand than that means Sarver’s decision to not pay Amar’e was bogus and absolutely stupid. He’s already got a plan. Taking on a huge contract for some guy that’s nearly a corpse of his former self will just throw it completely off.
