I've seen quite a lot of trade proposals here on Bsots and let me tell you, more times than not the trades were flat-out ridiculous, dumb, and sometimes a bit of both. I'm just spitballing here, hence the title, but I also want to measure what bright siders would deemed a good trade.
From what we have seen from the Suns lately, and for most of the season is their inability to score a bucket to put the game out of reach. Hedo has certainly had his fair share of great looks and clutch shots, but I dont think the Suns have a Go-to play when they are in dire need of a basket. 75% of you will disagree with this, but Amar'e certainly helped us in "clutch baskets" territory, but even then, the suns just cant seem to deliver a true dagger. Now, when the suns are making their baskets, their defense cant get that needed stop to close the game. Now then, after probably boring you half-way to death here is what I propose: Jason Richardson and Robin Lopez for Jeff Teague and Josh Smith.
Why would the Hawks even consider this? Well, Robin gives them a nice interior defender, and Horford can rotate back to his natural position. Joe Johnson is injured right now, but since the playoffs where his drop-off became evident, Johnson has not been able to return to form. In that his number are down across the board, and his shooting percentage has regressed at an alarming rate. With Jrich there to take the defensive pressure off of him, those two could really wreak havoc, and teh Hawks could utilize Johnson's court vision and Richardson's athleticism and spacing. Couple this extra offensive punch, with a taller, and better defensive frontline, and the Hawks have the potential to contend in the East. Richardson is having a career year as well as Horford, and Robin Lopez has the potential to be a solid center for years to come; also, Johnson has not had a backcourt mate that could score, rebound, and even defend like Jason Richardson, and it is all about your investments. Jason Richardson maximizes the return the Hawks get from their investment in Johnson as well as parting with teague.
The Suns on the Other Hand are in need of a Power Forward, and if Jason Richardson is to depart, the Suns would need another person to back up Nash. Consider that Robin Lopez has spine problems, and has yet to prove that he can contribute at a high level on a consistent basis; then the Suns are probably the winners of this deal. Dragic plays very well alongside nash, and teague has an immense amount of potential, and he is someone I would trust with back Steve Nash up. Josh Smith is having by far the most productive year of his career and he is only 25; Nash could play until 42 with a player like Smith running the pick and roll with him. Channing Frye has done a great job this year at the center/power forward position, and by drawing out a team's opposing center, Smith has more room to operate.
So there you have it.
