Amare is almost a Cav

Amare Stoudemire is going to be traded to the Cavs, ESPN reports. Really Kerr? What the f*ck. This is BS, we get a old has-been player with Big Z , who like Ben Wallace, we will buyout. We get a Role Player within Hickson and we get the last pick in the first round of the 2010 Draft for Allstar, 20-10 guy, Amare Stoudemire. If this trade goes through just give the Cavs the trophy. Stop with the buddy buddy deals with Ferry, Kerr. Nothing is confirmed yet, but the report says the deal will go through.

I feel sick about this trade...

You pointed out one of the things I hate about this trade: the so-called “first round pick of the Cavs”. Cavs will have the best record in the NBA and like you stated, that pick is the last of the first round picks. Who the hell are we gonna pick for that. Turner, Cousins, Patterson, Davis, Aldrich or Udoh are all gone by the time we get to choose. The player that we might end up drafting in that pick will probably be a role player. And we already have many of those. The picks that the front office should try to nab is those from 10 to 15 pick. We’re already halfway into the season and the front office should have a glimpse of those teams that might have be in that position.

If this trade is true, then it’s decided that any playoff aspirations for the Suns this season is already over.

We all want to fall in love. Why? Because that experience makes us feel completely alive, where every sense is heightened, and every emotion is magnified. Our everyday reality is shattered and we are flying into the heavens. It may only last a moment, an hour, or an afternoon, but that doesn't diminish its value, because we are left with memoriesthat we treasure for the rest of our lives.

I JUST

FUCKING KNEW IT!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I KNEW Kerr and his butt-pirate buddy Ferry were going to pull off this damn deal…We get a guy in JJ Hickson who I have watched a few times and he doesn’t really jump off the screen to me…this is such crap…Basically all Cleveland is doing is trading Hickson since Big Z will be back in a month…So we’re trading our franchise guy for THE LAST PICK IN THE FIRST ROUND and SOME GUY WHO MIGHT….MIGHT…MIGHT BE A 15/10 GUY ONE DAY. GOD, IT’S SO GREAT BEING A SUNS FAN. This is seriously the worst trade we could of have done…It’s not a done deal yet but if they do this..It’s going to be hard to stomach watching the Suns.

BE READY.......

For the Return of the Steve Kerr MORON-METER

by MikeyPHXFAN on Feb 14, 2010 5:12 AM MST reply actions

There are rumours of a third team involved How about this.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine.

Suns get Iggy and hickson and a pick from either the Cavs or 76ers.

Cavs get Amare

76ers get Z and Daniel Green

This works for the Suns becuase they actually get something close to value for Amare.

The Cavs get Amare and then get Z back.
If the Sixers are serious about only wanting salary relief then they for sure get that.

by Suns Fan For Life on Feb 14, 2010 6:23 AM MST reply actions

Ive read that Iggy is no longer on the trade block…

by marques m on Feb 14, 2010 10:19 AM MST up reply actions

Is this for real? Will they really make this trade? Doesn’t a 3rd team need to get involved. Gosh, Kerr and Sarver shouldn’t be pondering whether they need more value. They do need more value! The Nets could give us a better deal than this!

Please, don’t make this trade just to help a friend win a Championship, so they can keep Lebron.

I’ve been pretty nice to Kerr so far, but if he makes this trade than he needs to go. I would lose all faith in him. I know if we did do this we have a shot a Lee and Gay in the summer, but that is very risky considering that Portland didn’t get the players they wanted last summer.

By the way, I like that 3 team deal.

by Beavis 25 on Feb 14, 2010 10:10 AM MST reply actions

I hate Steve Kerr so much I wouldnt be surprised if he works for the Cavs next year out of all the trade options we have gone over we take this…Z is going to get bought out and JJ Hickson is not as good as Lou Amundson…I honestly hate Steve Kerr…I hope we trade Steve and Grant out of respect so they can compete because this suns team cant

by marques m on Feb 14, 2010 10:18 AM MST reply actions

+1

If we do this we should trade Hill and Lou amundson to Boston for Scalabrine and their first rounder. Just to give hill the chance to go for a title.

-1:Take it easy on the Kerr love who've made our team sub par

Mid-season panic trades, dumping KT and mismangament of the coach situation by trading players who played D?

Kerr has a lot to answer for making our team even more of a glass cannon and an average above .500 team.

by magenta on Feb 14, 2010 7:20 PM MST up reply actions

P.S this would be worst than the Paul Gasol trade

by marques m on Feb 14, 2010 10:18 AM MST reply actions

Just imagine the headline 2 years ago

Suns trade Amar’e Stoudemire, Shawn Marion, Raja Bell, Marcus Banks, Boris Diaw and a 2008 2nd round pick and a 2009 2nd round pick for Jared Dudley, the 29th pick of the 2008 draft and a 2010 second rounder. Trade orchestrated by Steve Kerr, newly elected Govenor of Ohio.

by DaveJD on Feb 14, 2010 10:21 AM MST reply actions

If we can afford to I’d try to keep the whole team together…If we can get to this time next year J-Rich will have more value because he’d be expiring and we will be in the drivers seat we should be patient we have a pretty good team..

by Lebrontophx2010 on Feb 14, 2010 11:42 PM MST up reply actions

I thought the plan was to get better, but since Colangeo built this team Sarver and Kerr have slowly traded all these guys away? Whats next, Steve Nash for a sack of marbles a few base ball cards and a dead bird named Peaty!?

by Beavis 25 on Feb 14, 2010 10:47 AM MST reply actions

Dumb and Dumber reference if you didn’t get that.

by Beavis 25 on Feb 14, 2010 10:48 AM MST up reply actions

Well, I guess this just shows that Sarver and the Suns FO aren't committed to win

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the SUNS needed to KEEP Amare if they want to contend. I think they needed to resign him even if it meant overpaying a little. I don’t think they even needed to give him a max deal, just something along the lines of Gasol. We’ve seen some interesting analysis that shows that Amare is a comparable player statistically (perhaps even better). In my mind Amare is a Top 20 player in the NBA, and trading for a sack of marbles is tantamount to “throwing in the towell.” Sarver has shown his true colors if this trade goes through. Those colors by the way are various shades of green, not orange, blue and white.

by Jack Frost on Feb 14, 2010 10:53 AM MST reply actions

Well, you can’t believe everything you hear on ESPN, so lets hope Kerr doesn’t do this. However, if they are than they at least have to throw in J-Rich, so we could go after Gay and Lee or Bosh in the summer.

They said closing in on a deal which means that talks are serious, but not done which means something is holding it up.

by Beavis 25 on Feb 14, 2010 11:05 AM MST reply actions

I’m hearing that there is no report of this coming out of AZ? That its just coming from ESPN and some Cleveland article.

Could be another rumor and perhaps it isn’t that serious as we think. Hopefully and maybe ESPN is just trying to throw something out there to spice things up a bit for the all-star game?

by Beavis 25 on Feb 14, 2010 11:10 AM MST up reply actions

Also, didn’t ESPN report last week that the Cavs have nothing that the Suns want and that Phoenix isn’t interested?

by Beavis 25 on Feb 14, 2010 11:11 AM MST up reply actions

I totally agree Bevis

This is just a result of some boring All Star Weekend festivities, I mean they have to stir up something with how sullen this All Star break has been.

There is nothing coming out of AZ because this deal didn’t come out of AZ, if there really had been talks with Cleveland you bet that some of the reputable writers in Phx would have written about it.

Kerr is not a moron guys I have never disliked a move he has made thus far, and if its worth anything Barkley said JJ Hickson is going to be a star some day.

by SSOHOWARD on Feb 14, 2010 11:17 AM MST up reply actions

Chances are that Cleveland offered Kerr a deal like any other team and he won’t accept it because its not enough. Also, Kerr and Ferry are friends and did meet and have lunch or something this weekend, so ESPN always has that to use as speculation that they’re talking a deal.

by Beavis 25 on Feb 14, 2010 11:20 AM MST up reply actions

Yep

This is just the equivalent of TMZ for basketball or something, just C grade journalists trying to put stories together however possible as ridiculous as they might be, it sells.

thats the same thing I was thinking that since it hasent come out of AZ it has no legs buts a lot of reports are coming out of Dallas but I would have to think at least one writer from AZ is out there

by jemagee on Feb 14, 2010 12:22 PM MST up reply actions

Dont know who agrees with Barkley? Well I think there are some people who agree that Hickson will be a stud- a ton of Cavaliers fans are upset to see him go.

by SSOHOWARD on Feb 14, 2010 12:44 PM MST up reply actions

But a ton of Cavs fans are happy to see LeBron stay.

by Suns R Us on Feb 14, 2010 12:49 PM MST up reply actions

Well a ton of fans is always a good source of intelligent analysis, they never have overly emotional attachment to players that isn’t based on reality.

No, I don’t know many who think Barkley’s basketball knowledge is straight on.

I think the TNT crew is useless, almost worse than all the former players on ESPN combined

by jemagee on Feb 14, 2010 1:03 PM MST up reply actions

I just quoted what I heard, truthfully I haven’t watched JJ play so I don’t know about him. Furthermore I doubt any of you have seen him play— its not like we are watching a lot of Cavs games….

I agree on the ESPN staff, but Barkley and EJ are very intelligent on their analysis, there is a reason why that program has won Emmys. Hubie Brown on ESPN is also one of the best in the business, that dude has been around for a long time -- very intelligent.

by SSOHOWARD on Feb 14, 2010 1:59 PM MST up reply actions

EJ isn’t a former player – and Barkley is a blow hard.

Emmy’s aren’t given out for ability to analyze sports…that’s like calling george lopez funny cause he has a grammy….

by jemagee on Feb 14, 2010 2:08 PM MST up reply actions

I’ve seen enough Cavs games to honestly say Hickson IS NOT BETTER THAN LOU AMUNDSON….Hickson benefits from playing with Lebron and Shaq…he is not a very good rebounder but he can run the floor and plays solid defense

by Lebrontophx2010 on Feb 14, 2010 11:44 PM MST up reply actions

Why not make the Miami trade?!
Beasley > Hickson
O’Neal’s 23million contract > Big Z’s 11 million
Miami 1st Rounder(15-19) > Cavs 1st Rounder(29-30)
WTF!!!!!!!!!! Cavs trade failz!

by Suns R Us on Feb 14, 2010 12:44 PM MST reply actions

Aside from the fact that Beasley isn’t > hickson
and I’ve seen no proof that trade exists?

by jemagee on Feb 14, 2010 1:04 PM MST up reply actions

1. The Miami GM has said pretty strongly that Beasley is not available for a trade.
2. While Jermaine O’Neal is an expiring contract the fact that its 23 million compared to Z’s 11 isn’t necessarily a good thing. A big priority for your owner is getting under the luxury tax. He doesn’t get that with O’Neal. Plus, Z would happily be in a buy out with you guys to come back to us in 30 days, that would save your team millions. There’s no way O’Neal agrees to a buy out on the last significant money he’ll ever see.

by CavsLebronFan on Feb 14, 2010 5:02 PM MST up reply actions

We buyout Wallace and we got Frye…really

by Suns R Us on Feb 14, 2010 7:19 PM MST up reply actions

Oh, an unsubstantiated rumor from Yahoo’s rumor monger is proof that it’s possible?

And again, Beasley is not greater than Hickson, he’s a tweener with emotion and personal problems who seems to have work ethic issues as well

by jemagee on Feb 14, 2010 1:15 PM MST up reply actions

And Hickson is a horrible shooter whom only has the potential to be a role player for a winning team. While Beasley has the potential to be a All-Star.

by Suns R Us on Feb 14, 2010 1:21 PM MST up reply actions

Not sure what Beasley has shown you this year and last that says he can be an all star

No offense, but I’ll defer to the guys who work in the NBA for a lliving and have access to much more than a few box scores.

Everyone wants Hickson and almost no one wants Beasley.

What do you think THAT tells you about the perception of both players across the league….

Why is 55.3 FG% a horrible shooting percentage?

by jemagee on Feb 14, 2010 1:30 PM MST up reply actions

55% is good, I mean his long range shot, that is something that Amare does really well for his size.

by Suns R Us on Feb 14, 2010 1:38 PM MST up reply actions

Wait so now we’re comparing Amare and Hickson – so that’s fair
let’s compare Amare and Beasley then?

Hickson is better than Beasley – he’s a more traditional power forward – but he’s better than Beasley

by jemagee on Feb 14, 2010 1:46 PM MST up reply actions

The Suns don’t want Beasley. Sources from the team have already said that and because of that any deal with the Heat is near impossible. The 76ers are still their top choice because they really want Iggy. I could see the 76ers being a 3rd team involved in a Cavs and Suns deal.

by Beavis 25 on Feb 14, 2010 4:04 PM MST up reply actions

ummm bullshit I’d take Beasley over Hickson anyday…all Hickson does is play better defense..Beasley is better everywhere else

They swapped an allstar(howard) with another one (butler)

by Suns R Us on Feb 14, 2010 4:35 PM MST up reply actions

Jeez louise – that’s awesome thinking.

There are teams that are looking to get out from under contracts and there are teams that want to win.

The off season the macs over paid jamison and arenas I knew it was a bad idea, and they’ve finally realized it as well…this trade gets them out from under some contracts and frees up cap space sooner – they don’t care that josh howard WAS an all-star (and neither does anyone else…who cares?) they care that he doesn’t have a guaranteed contract for next year so they can pay him a minimal amount to go away…same with most of the rest of the pieces in the trade.

The mavs were willing to make this trade because they had what the wizards value more than anything right now – expiring contracts.

And like it or not – the Suns are more like the wizards in these situations then the Mavericks, they aren’t looking to get better, they are looking to clear salary….thus they are going to get the shorter end of the stick…it’s the reality when you have ownership like the suns or the wiz (or the sixers)

Is Sarver pushing for the Cavs' deal to dump salary?

Most believe Sarver, who has had financial turmoil, is driving the Cavaliers’ scenario because a buyout of Ilgauskas’ $11.5 million expiring contract could get the Suns under the luxury-tax threshold
