Are you smarter than Steve Kerr?

I thought this would be a good idea to stimulate meaningful discussion on how to improve the Suns going into the next few years…The fact is while many of us are knowledgeable and educated fans, we are not experienced NBA GMs. That being said let’s put ourselves in Steve Kerr’s shoes if just for a moment.

What I want to know is: Since Amare most likely will not traded, what is the first order of business that must be addressed for this Suns team. Second, I would like to know what kind of trades or financial moves you would make as the Suns GM to prepare our way ahead for the coming decade.

Some things that should be considered:

1. A reduced salary cap for 2010-2011. Most expert opinions are that it will be somewhere in the range of $53-54 million. A more restrictive prospective CBA should also be taken into account.

2. The Suns fan base – Suns fans are used to a viable and entertaining product being put on the court. This has to be a consideration with every intended move and the anticipated consequences.

3. Robert Sarver’s financial positioning. Many of Mr. Sarver’s banking ventures have suffered large financial losses during this recession with continued anticipated losses over the next few years. This affects his thought process concerning every financial deal.

4. Is Alvin Gentry the right coach for this team? Or should you look for another proven coach to try to take this team to the Promised Land. Are the Assistant coaches right? Do we need a different style of play?

5. The fact that Steve Nash is 36 & Grant Hill is 37. As well as they are currently playing, their NBA playing windows are rapidly coming to a close. How do we transition into the future players?

Tell us what you would do!
