Since it was so fun and divisive to discuss Amare Stoudemire over the last few weeks I thought I'd open a thread to discuss your assessments of Robin Lopez as he currently is and how he projects for the future.

In my assessment, Robin is already and will develop into an even better finisher as the years go on. He is a little plodding and not extremely athletic but usually catches the ball high(hard not to when your that tall) and puts himself in a good position to finish. He is very good at playing within himself. While his overall rebound rate is low for a C at 13.6% you will notice that the team rebound rate(and particularly the offensive rebound rate) is higher with him on the court. This confirms what we have all seen. Robin is very good at being in position and forcing guys to put a body on him and taking up space allowing others to step in and get the board. If he can ever start coming down with some of these on his own and not get shoved out of position at the last moment I think he will turn into a good rebounder. Overall, the team offense and team defense is slightly better with him on the court as well. Defensively this makes sense as he can block a fair amount of shots and gives good effort. The fact he creates more offensive rebounding opportunities and plays very well within himself also help us on the offensive end. Given that he is only 21 at the time being I think Robin will develop into a 13PPG 10RPG 2BPG center in the future.
