My Suns-Sixers Trade Idea
I would actually like an alternate trade with Philly that you guys probably won't like. Here it is on the trade machine
http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=yzd6p7b
I would like this trade for these following reasons
- We would have a real starting PF in Elton, instead of Channing starting.
- Elton at Power Forward would also give RoLo the starting position at Center which would make him more confident and he would develop, plus Brand could teach Robin some pointers. So our lineup would look like this....
C - Robin Lopez - Louis Amundson - Jarron Collins
PF - Elton Brand - Channing Frye - Louis Amundson - Taylor Griffin
SF - Andre Iguodala - Grant Hill - Earl Clark
SG - Leandro Barbosa - Jared Dudley
PG - Steve Nash - Goran Dragic
Another reason I like this trade is that...
- Phoenix has the best trainers in the league, so that they can fix up Brand
- Brand can play defense and grab rebounds
Also, if we are to take on Brands 14 mill contract, I would also like Phillys 1st rounder. So we would acquire
To PHX: Elton Brand, Andre Iguodala, Philly 1st Rounder
To PHI: Jason Richardson, Amare Stoudemire
What are your thoughts on this trade? :)

Definately like the first rounder.
Plus Brand can play with Lopez not instead of Lopez. We would be a little slower than currently. I would Start Iggy at the 2 though. Hill and Iggy would give us great perimeter defense in the starting unit and good offense on the bench with Barbs. We still have Lou, Dragic and Duds to play defense of off the bench. I think Iggy would would get alot of minutes with the bench. This would add defense and allow him to utilize his playmaking.

I actually think they would do that.
And while Brand would slow us down significantly, he’s a reliable post presence (when healthy) that can average 20/10 pretty easily. I think, that if he can stay healthy (VERY big “if”), he can give us a bit of “Life After Nash”. I know his contract only lasts a couple years after that, but if the FO is looking to rebuild the image of the team, that would give us a possible starting five (given some of these players develop into starter material [Dragic, who I think could start in the next year or two if Nash weren’t around] and Clark) of:
PG: Dragic
SG: Iguodala
SF: Clark
PF: Brand
C: Lopez
A very defense oriented offense that would still be able to run a bit (aside from Brand, but hey, we still ran a little with Shaq around, didn’t we?). Plus, we’d have a promising young wing in Iguodala, and if Clark pans out the way I think he will, we’ll have a scary long, athletic SG/SF combo. Dragic is a pass first point guard that doesn’t mind taking the passenger seat (good for Iguodala), and Brand can be the number one option on offense. Lopez is a good defender, and would add basically what he adds to the current team: length and mobility.

Plus, if we take Brand's contract
They would probably gift wrap the first rounder, put a bow and a big “Thank You!” note attached to it.

i dont think elton brand would work..similar to shaq elton brand works better on the blocks he can hit open jumpers but would not be great up and down..
Why not trade Iguodola for J-Rich
We want Iguodola
and the 76ers could have a lot of cap room 2011 when both Richardson and Dalenbert come off their books..but your trade isnt bad id try to get holiday big and can defend
Holiday...big?
He’s a PG.

@Lebrontophx2010
Do you mean Spieghts? That would be great but I am positive Philadelphia would not give him up because he has uber potential
76ers would trade Iguodala for Richardson only to save $
From a winning standpoint, trading Iguodala for Richardson would be awful. Iguodala is younger and a better defender.
Are we trading for bad contracts because of the possibility of signing Amare to one?
I don’t mind good deals that improve our team in the long run.
But not bad ones…
Seems a bit drastic, no?

Well, the problem with Brand is that he has 4 YEARS left on a huge contract. We might as well just give Amar’e the extension he wants. Also, I don’t think he can run with the Suns. I would rather take Dalembert.
I too would love a J-Rich for Iggy trade, but thats unlikely to happen. The 76ers would have to get really desperate in order to make that deal.
Kerr is suppose to give Amare another offer soon. I hope it is reasonable and that Amare will take it. I agree with Nash and would like to just finish off the season with the same team in less we somehow trade J-Rich for Iggy. We can always trade Amare in the summer.
Lopez and Dalembert
I forget who draws those cartoons on this forum, but the next one should concern a hypothetical Suns team with Robin Lopez and Samuel Dalembert. They would say to each other, “You blocked the shot last time! It’s my turn!” and “No, I wanna block the shot!” while their teammates are all complaining that they have to do all the scoring…
I'd rather do...
STAT/LB for Iggy/Speights, seeing as how Philly rejected the offer that included RIchardson (and Rich is my favorite). Only thing is I’m not 100% sure they would give up a young talent like Speights.
They're trying to take my tortillas!
