Suns to offer Stoudemire Contract Extension by end of the week

Yes you heard me, Amare may stay a Sun for another 5 years by Friday. The Suns are likely going to offer him a contract extension of 12-15million per year. Knowing Amare 12million-15million isn't what he wants, as it's less then he has now. There are 3 scenarios to this situation as mentioned in the article.

1. Amare happily accepts, Suns make a playoff push this season.

2. Amare believe that the Suns numbers are close to his numbers, and they will continue to negotiate.

3. Amare declines and wants more money, Suns are forced to trade him.

Yes, I do. However, if we somehow keep Amare I still think a trade might happen. I believe our front office will still try to get Iggy. Two possibilities of that happening are J-Rich for Iggy straight up or a 3 way deal that involves Houston. J-Rich and Barbosa to the Rockets, Iggy and Sam to the Suns and tmac’s contract to the 76ers. Works and makes sense and is possible.

If that did happen than a possible lineup would look like this;

PG Nash\Dragic
SG Iggy\Dudley
SF Hill\Amundson
PF Amar’e\Frye
C Lopez\Dalembert

CONTENDERS!

Two things...

1) The 76ers could get better for Iggy than Barbosa and J-rich, and it doesn’t solve their biggest problem of being in the luxury tax

2) the Houston suggestion, why would Houston take J-rich and Barbs when they could get Iggy and Dally. It makes more sense for it to be just between Houston-Philly.

Really

so the SIxers give up Iggy and Sam for T-Mac’s bad knees and a bad deal. RIght, you think the 76ers have enough problems filling seats, that deal will take out another 2 thousand. This deal makes no sense, Hell the league would probably no sign off on it.

Do you really think the Sixers gift wrap us Iggy?

I like the idea, a lot. But I don’t think it happens.

Though...

It does leave Dudley backing up the SG. I’m not sure I’m confident in him being the backup SG. Also…Amundson at SF? The guy can’t shoot outside maybe 18 feet tops. 15 feet being more realistic. That leaves everyone able to fall back into the post, without the 3-point shooters.

Dudley would be fine at the 2. He’s played it before with us. Fyre can always play the SF like Tim Thomas could.

everyone keeps forgetting 2 things

1) We still have Dragic (a combo guard)
2) D-League

They get tmacs contract out of it which is a huge deal.

As for Houston, yes they would rather have Iggy and Dally, but as of right now the 76ers are more interested in a deal with the Suns. This makes Houston desperate to get something good back for tmac, so they get J-Rich and Barbosa. Two guys who can help them a lot offensively.

So what

the 76ers will have all this cap space and no team, and no one, I mean no one will want to player there. This deal is horrible for the 76er’s, sorry this has about much chance as the East coast not getting another snow storm today.

He won'y sign for 12-15 million

Can’t say for sure ,but I/m think Amare’s final lined in the sand is probably around 17-18 million per…Not sure if the Suns can go that high…we’ll see…

I think between 16-17 is reasonable…

If we start him off at $14mil per year, I have a hard time thinking Amare will flat out refuse it.

I don’t know, I think he’s realizing that he’s not a max player, and I think he’s realizing that playing with Steve is a once in a lifetime thing.

actually dalenbert would not need to be included if it was jrich for iggy so amundson would still play the 4 and clark would play the 3

not a max player but i dont see him taking a major paycut maybe between 15-17
