No clue

But I check them and the playoff odds religiously every morning, haha.

I don’t pay much attention to the Power Rankings. Although, I check just to see where we are put. I don’t always agree and I never make a big deal about it because its just some Sports writer’s opinion. I’d rather our team keep a low profile going into the playoffs, so we can surprise everyone.

Hollinger

evidently uses numbers to construct his….The normal ESPN and SI power rankings are pretty arbitrary. I chose Hollinger’s because there’s at least a statistical basis. Of course it’s imperfect, but I consider it a bit more valid than the others out there.

I didn't even realize that.

Put them at number one for the past few weeks.

that does seem way lower than it should be

I wonder what stats are dragging them down? I know alot of their wins against some poor teams have not exactly been definitive…it’s possible the strength of schedule and win margin may be heavily weighted factors…

people forget how bad they played before the break

and how point margin is big. For example beating the Timber wolves by 1? at home is evidence of a below average team, not a good one. People only look at W though

their win-margin is terrible

they just happen to be the best team in history in close games. Eventually, that will bite them in the butt.

Yeah

They are kind of like the Dbacks a few years ago.

Maybe they got us mixed up with Dallas? lol

Haha just kidding but I have no idea how Dallas is a 13 and Bobcats at 15 doesn’t make sense either…..

Hollinger...

…puts basically all the weight into margin of victory and strength of schedule. Dallas has a small margin of victory on the year and in the last 25% they haven’t played anybody so they don’t move up very far even though they’re winning.

yeah, barely beating poor teams

hurts you more than helps in Hollinger’s rankings

We're getting

Too much attention now damnit!

Has anyone seen our last five games of the season? We seem to have a really tough schedule the rest of the way…Atleast most of it will be at home…

last five games of the season:
vs San Antonio
@OKC
Vs Houston
Vs Denver
@Utah

We have two more games against Utah this year….I’m not saying WE HAVE TO beat them in the next two meetings…Well…Nevermind I’m going to say we have too. Playing in Utah SUCKS.

well, by then hopefully

the SA (locked into #8) and Houston (out) and Denver (locked into #2 or #3) games won’t mean anything in the standings anymore. But I do believe we’ll be neck and neck with OKC and Utah in the 4-6 seeding, so we’ll need wins for a host of reasons.

I have never put a lot of stock in Power rankings...

I put more stock in how well a team is playing and if they do the “little things right” like:

Closing out ball games…
Keeping turnovers low….
Taking care of the home court….
Being aggressive throughout the game…
Rebounding and playing defensive…

These are way more important to the overall success of the Suns than a Power ranking…

From that same article...

You can get to this Hollingers Statistics

I think that shows a little more about what has been going on the last 20 games or so. Makes me feel a little good inside. Also makes me feel like maybe we wernt playing above our potential at the start of the season.

how does that link tell you anything about the last 20 games?

Its a ranking over the course of the season

Because if you looked...

At that ranking 20 games ago we where 15th or something to that affect. It tells me in the last 20 games base don how he calculates his numbers that our numbers have drastically improved.
