Why do the Suns keep losing on TNT?

Today's 96-87 debacle with the Blazers was just another in a long series of losses that the Suns have suffered on TNT in the last few years. Since the beginning of the 2008-2009 season, the Suns have won an astronomical 8% of the games they have played on TNT.

Allen Moll on www.TheHoopDoctors.com (linked here) notes that during all games Phoenix plays on other networks during the same period, its record is above the .650 winning clip.

The Suns TNT losses have come by an average of 11.2 points. A few teams like the Lakers have slapped the Lakers around fairly well as they have beaten the Suns by margins of 19, 26 and 13 along the way. The Blazers haven't done too bad either, beating the Suns four times during that stretch including one where Brandon Roy smoked the Suns for 52.

It's not like the Suns players have answers either...Jared Dudley (he of the most athletic hands variety) states, "One, it has to do with the competition. Two, after a while, it's mental."  Suns GM Steve Kerr added, 'It's bizarre...it's not like we don't beat good teams on ESPN. There's no explanation. Let's pin it on Charles. He brings that negative vibe all the time.'

Pretty technical analysis, I'd have to say...

While I am by no means claim to be a competent analyst, I'd gather to say that part of the problem may lie in the near WWE atmosphere that TNT creates before and during a game. Sometimes, I half expect Kenny to come out with a chair and whack Charles Barkley. While it is pretty sublime, why it effects the Suns so much more than other teams, I haven't a clue...

While I haven't worked the numbers yet, I have estimated that the Suns are shooting around 42% from the field during their TNT performances (or lack thereof)...While not a terriblyy low FG%, and for most teams this is probably acceptable. However with the way the Suns thrive in an uptempo environment, they simply can't generate enough points to overcome the opponents. In many cases, it's not close. Somewhere out there, there has to be an answer...

Considering that 2 of the next three games we have in this playoff series are on TNT, we better find some answers and fast or the Suns fans will be disappointed...again. Your thoughts...?
