Short-Time Suns You Love
So I'm sitting here watching Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals where we have teams with Matt Barnes and Michael Finley facing off and I got to thinking - what Suns players did you absolutely just LOVE even though they weren't on the roster for long?
As I'm sure you were aware, Barnes was only a Sun during the 2008-2009 season while Finley spent just 1 full season and 27 games of another with the Suns at the start of his career. Although Barnes was on the worst Suns team of the last 5 years I couldn't help but like the guy. With Finley, I'm ecstatic he's no longer a Spur because I was just a massive Mike Finley fan during his short time with the Suns. As with most people coming of age in the mid-90's I of course owned the black Suns jersey with Finley on the back (I also had Wesley Person. Ha.).
With that phenomenal intro I pose the question to you - what former Suns players are you (or were you) totally in the bag for although they spent a short-time with the franchise? Let's call it 3 seasons or less. I'll give you an example of a wrong answer - Jerrod Mustaf (bonus points to anyone who notices that the video clip below is wrong. The Mustaf highlights are from '93-94, as evidenced by A.C. Green and Joe Kleine, whereas the brawl was in 1992-1993).

Gordan Giriček
I could have easily picked someone else, but I really liked how Gordan arrived in early March of 2008 and instantly cracked into Mike’s rotation. Maybe Mike’s infatuation with Euro-League sharpshooters had something to do with it, but i felt Gordan was pretty consistent. Not many mid-season free agents managed to play how he did during D’Antoni’s tenure. He had an accurate mid-range jumper, played gritty perimeter defense, and wasn’t afraid to drive it in against bigger guys. I was kind of disappointed he went to back to Europe that off-season, but I’m no one to complain considering how well our guards have played this season. (=
When Goran Dragić was put in around the 2 minute mark of first quarters to play along-side Steve earlier this season, his play as a SG really reminded me of Giriček. He’s my favorite short-tenure Sun because he was our limited sneak peek at Dragić. I say limited because Goran is displaying more talent and potential at the NBA level than Gordan did. Nothing against Gordan, as he was a good player in his own right, but he didn’t posses the exact skill set that I feel will give Goran a longer, more successful NBA career. Giriček, a SG/SF, was taller than Dragić, and did possess a similar jump shot and perimeter defense to Goran’s along with a decent amount of explosiveness and athleticism. But Dragić, a PG/SG, has superior passing skills, ball handling skills, explosiveness, athleticism, and a better nose for the ball.
Oh yeah, and they have similar names. Goran, Gordan. =P
On Giricek.....
When Dragic first showed up my girlfriend thought they were the same guy (Euroish wearing #2 for the Suns). Twas funny to explain to her that they were not.

Man...Dice broke my heart
I always thought he screwed us. I mean thank god we didn’t give him a big contract…but at the time I was unhappy.
The Jalen Rose era was hilarious. We worked hard to get him and then buried him on the bench because he had nothing left. Oh Mike D.

Haha Tim Thomas.
I bet that game-tying 3 was the biggest highlight of his career. He’s practically washed up now ever since he’s been gone from PHX.
In Nash I Trust! Steve Nash DOES play defense, foo!
Kurt Thomas
Kurt Thomas was huge in 2007 for guarding Duncan but of course, the Suns just couldn’t battle through. Even though he’s old, he’s still a decent post defender and he can knock down the midrange jumper much like McDyess. Boy I miss Kurt Thomas. No offense to Jarron, but I’d much rather have Kurt.

Actually lost Q to get Kurt Thomas (Knicks trade off-season 05)
Then we added Raja.

I lose love for 3 point shooters that get cold in the playoffs.
As special as Q was, his postseason hurts me, try as he did.
I was gonna play this game
but then I realized most of my choices would bring up bad memories. So I am being nice and lurking on the sidelines for this one.
Pat Burke and....
Tim Thomas! the shot he hit against the lakers still cracks me up
