The Final Frontier Story

Hi guys, this is a reminder that this is sports and the ball is round.

I am from India and we are all fanatics of a game called "Cricket"

I am going back to the History of Cricket , to show that it ain't over yet.

The Spurs are down, but not out.

Here goes the story.

The Year is 2001. Team Australia has been on a tear in test match Cricket.

This is the oldest format in cricket, where the game goes on for a grueling 05 Days. If at the end of 05 days, we do not have a winner, the game is declared a draw. Each team has 10 Batsmen who score runs and to beat a team you have to get all 10 Batsmen OUT in 02 nnings and oustscore them.

This Australian Team has WON 16 TEST MATCHES in a row. That was a record and they were called the "Australian Juggernaut".

They now come to play in India where they have not won a series in FOREVER.

The then Australian CAPTAIN "STEVE WAUGH" called it the FINAL FRONTIER.

Game 01 - The Australians beat us Handily by 10 Wickets.

Game 02 - The Milestone was to be acheived and the series was to be won. This was a 3-Match Series.

First Inning, the Australians made more than 500 Runs. The Indian Innings folded at a meagre 200 odd runs and the Australians were able to force the team to bat again. That means even after the Indian scored the 300 remaining runs, the Australians still had a chance to bat after and make the remaining score.

Then VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid happened.

The 02 went on to bat for 2 1/2 consecutive days. Made 281 and 183 runs respectively, erased the Australian Deficit and on the last day, the Australians needed to score 384 Runs to win the game.

The Australians lost that game by 50 odd runs and were never the same unbeatable force again. Losing the Series 2-1

I DON'T KNOW WHY I WENT INTO THIS STORY, but if there is any team that can come out of a 0-3 hole. It could be the SPURS.

Damn my Pessimism.

GO SUNS GO.
