Let's face it. Our team is a championship-caliber team. It has been ever since we acquired Steve Nash in 2004. They've always been contenders but they got screwed by the Spurs much like the Kings got screwed by the Lakers in 2002.
Now we've just finished up a 2009-2010 season where the Suns were expected to be heading for the lottery but ended up finishing at the 3rd seed, entered the Western Conference Finals, and had a solid chance to beat the Lakers were it not for a Ron Artest buzzer beater and Kobe putting on a Michael Jordan show. We had high expectations and so did the team. This was a special group and we all know it.
The man who helped assemble this team, Steve Kerr, is not getting an extension. There are many rumors about this but most Suns fans are sticking with the idea that Robert Sarver wouldn't resign Kerr unless Kerr took a 10% paycut. I honestly don't know what to believe but if this were true, I'm getting tired of Sarver's shenanigans.
I've labeled Sarver as a cheap bastard for a good while now because he hasn't been willing to dish out money to bring a championship to Phoenix. After some successful runs, he's found small ways to dismantle those contending teams. Now we lose Steve Kerr, who has helped orchestrate this run by assembling this team together. Amar'e, Channing, and Lou are the free agents we have to worry about and now it's looking like we might possibly lose all 3.
Robert Sarver, I humbly ask you to either give STAT the max and give Gentry a pay raise with a new contract OR please sell the team and find us a new owner. You may be a sports fan but you're ruining our team. Sports fans want their teams to WIN A CHAMPIONSHIP. So far you've failed to help Phoenix do that. Bring back Jerry Colangelo or at least someone who's willing to dish out money for the sake of a championship. We Suns fans have had enough.
