Dear Robert Sarver:
Dear Robert:
Say, what the hell is going on? A few weeks ago, our Suns were fighting for a finals birth. An unexpected one. An impressive one. One that was enabled by the work of David Griffin, Steve Kerr, Alvin Gentry, and of course your players. Let us not forget us fans filling U.S. Airways Arena, drinking your beer and eating your hot dogs for premium prices. Now, it is all unraveling fast before our very eyes.
WTF Robert? What is REALLY going on? We of the Suns nation deserve more than your little interview yesterday on KTAR, which was nothing -- not PR, not damage control, not information of any kind of substance or value.
You sounded like one of those old Enron Execs or something. Was your lawyer in the studio with you? Just a joke -- this isn't a rant to insult you; that's being done elsewhere by a bunch of bloodthirsty jackals.
Not me, sir. I'm writing with all due respect.
So down to brass tacks and the purpose of my correspondence: What are your plans? Are you blowing this team up? Who's next, the players? Amare ... yeah, we get it; that's over. But what about the other winners that have made you so much money, that we all love and respect so much? Steve Nash? Grant Hill? Dudz, JRich? Lou and Frye (yeah, I'm sure they'll be demanding too much), Goran? The rest?
How's about Alvin Gentry? He's a good man, right? And he led our team through the ups and downs of this past season. How does he feel now? Maybe a vote of confidence ($ and security) would be smart or nice, or something to show some appreciation. A pat on the back these days doesn't pay the bills.
Hello? Bob? You there?
Listen, I'll be honest, you aren't looking so good right now. We don't really trust you and we have no idea what comes next. What are your motives? You can understand us being nervous, right? I mean, are you trying to fund a villa in Nice, or a yacht bigger than most of our homes, or are you trying to get the Suns franchise over the hump and into championship contention? Doesn't sound like the latter to me. In fact, it kind of seems like every time we have reason to believe we're going in the right direction as a franchise, you make Negative Nancys out of us.
Oh and this other thing that's bugging me personally: You really blew the BSOTS player evaluation project. We were rolling pretty good. Trevor, Watadogg, and myself were putting up some good work. Even Basketball Girlfriend was going to contribute as a means to celebrate our season and get over the disappointment of losing to the evil empire in LA.
You really screwed that up now, Bob. Do we continue in spite of the recent news, or do we just forget it, because a lot of us are considering taking up antidepressants, OD'ing on Krispy Kremes, or skipping work to get a 5th of Ten High and find a hole to crawl into.
Bob, your life is good. We congratulate you on your millions, but let's not forget who made a lot of that possible. So, here's an open invite to address some of the most intelligent, die-hard Suns fans. Why not give me a call or email and we can arrange an online interview where you can justify yourself and give us some truth.
Sincerely,
Wil Cantrell
Common Man
PS: Some of my my fellow common men may have some words for you below ... (Let's hear it, Bright Siders ... He'll read it, I'm positive).

well played sir...
i like many other fans spent a good portion of my annual income the past few years watching this team at the USAC, and I understand it being a business and all, but as of right now I can sure as hell guarantee that I will not do it again next year. I’m still a fan, no doubt, but until I know that the team is being put together to win and not simply “make the most money with what we have and can get for a bargain”, then I’ll simply watch at home.
good letter
We as fans should voice our opinion on this matter. He can’t just run this team like this. I know we can’t boycott the Suns but Rob can’t keep this up. If we don’t have a GM for the July, 1st free agency we are gonna be at a disadvantage, and players aren’t going to want to play for the suns if Rob is gonna be the polar opposite of Cuban. I know Cuban micromanages the Mavs but at least he spends money in pursuit of a ’ship. I want to support our suns but not this asshole Sarver. To think, we were so close, we could still be watching the suns play basketball right about now. It probably would have been the lakers who would have imploded this offseason had we won the WCF.
Bobdammit.
It ain’t over ‘til it’s Sarver.

On point
Great letter. I want answers, not spin. Wish I could cancel my tickets for next year in protest. I am sure others feel the same way. Wonder the players are thinking?
I enjoyed last season so much, it was fun going to the games. I was bummed we lost to the Lakers, but was ‘ok’ with it. Now I just have a sick feeling in the pit of my stomach and it’s washed away the good feelings.
I feel like WE just got dragic'd

Too late to change the stupid twitter name. Did it as a joke to my teenager, but now I'm hooked on the news-feed aspect of twitter.
Sigh
I’m with you, Will. I didn’t want to blow things out of proportion but it’s clear that something is going on and can’t lead to anything good. Very sad considering how hard this team played and the chemistry they showed on and off the court. And that starts in the front office.

Oh Bobert...I'm disappointed
I was all like “Go Sunz” and I renewed my season tickets…now you’re gonna put a below average product on the floor and I’m gonna be all like “Sigh.” I mean there will probably be some LOLZ, like when the Lakers fist fuck us the first time we connect next season but they won’t be happy LOLZ…it’ll be more like “all you can do is laugh” LOLZ.
Why do you hate me?

Dear Mr Sarver
If you are to read this letter, or any of the above comments, it will mean that at least you are trying to connect with some of your fans…scratch that, I meant to say ‘connect with Suns fans’.
Last season, the product on the floor was fantastic. There’s no doubting it. We were the tiny team that could. We shocked the world by doing what we did. We fought valiantly, we worked hard, we showed that team comes before any one individual. We played basketball the right way again. We had the non-believers believing. And, but for a few simple errors, we would be contesting the NBA Finals right now.
Will we get there again any time soon? I don’t know any more.
You’ve let us down. We all believed. We were 110% behind this team, we loved them. We still do. It’s just that now we don’t know what we’re going to be loving next season.
It looks like you’ve pulled the rug from under us and from under the team.
I say ‘looks’ because that’s all we have right now. We don’t know any more than you have allowed us to know. The situation could be resolved slightly just by being honest with us. The same kind of honesty that made us love this team so much.
Let us believe again Mr Sarver, just let us believe.
Kind regards

Great job Will
I just want to know if he really cares about wining a championship or not? The teams that win trophies are luxury tax teams. They pay for good GM’s, Coaches, and other staff. Not to mention players.
If you constantly undercut your players and staffs contracts nobody will want to be here. Nobody wants to play for a cheap ass owner. How are we going to attract free-agents? Anybody ever hear anyone say they want to play for the Suns anymore? To not have a GM when free-agency starts is a freaking embarrassment to our franchise. I wonder how many of our current players want to play for Sarver?
I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt right now but if you change our team and put a piss ass product out there please sell our team to someone who has what it takes to obtain championships.

Funny Stuff everyone...
Hopefully sarver has gotten the message by now from all the lambasting he has been taking…Time for Cheap Slot Bob to wake up from the bottom of the boat and fix this mess

not like the FO fell apart and the biggest star on the team is probably leaving… oh wait…

I can't stand fair-weather/bandwagon fans, stick with your team, throughout the good and the bad. And don't switch to whichever team wins the Super Bowl each year.
ESPN's reporting that STAT is done with us.
Apparently the whole Kerr situation was the “nail in the coffin”. If this is true, our team really just plummeted into rebuilding mode unless we sign and trade STAT immediately…
In Nash I Trust! Steve Nash DOES play defense, foo!
Well said Will
Man how i wish we can truly air out our grievances to Sarver. I bet that punk doesnt event know we exist.
Does he even care about making the squad better?
Where the heck is this all going Bob? Do you even have a friggen plan?!!?!??!?!?!
"Yeah I could have been king, but maybe I already am king. Hail to the king baby." Ash from Army of Darkness
I still can't believe...
I have watched this team for almost thirty years. Through the good times and the bad. Drug conspiracy’s, elite stars in trouble, championship runs (falling short), change of ownership. But Sarver is starting to remind me alot like Bidwell. I spent ten years in St Louis and watched that idiot do nothing but inflate his wallet. I never have nor ever will support a Bidwell team.
But this is the Suns. The Phoenix Suns. The only sports team I have ever cared about. Why, because they always seemed to care about the team, the fans, the community. My kids would defend me when someone would say I watched sports, by replying ’It’s not sports, it’s a lifestyle’. Well I guess we have one more sports team in the Valley, and I hate watching sports. I have seen most of the venues live here, but only continue to follow the Suns. My sister even one a million dollars with a Jay Bell Grand Slam (true story), and as great as it was for her I still am not a faithful follower of the D-Backs.
So Sarver, are you trying to end the life of this team? With the way teams have no allegience to cities anymore, are you trying to make this a sellable team to move to a different city? No we didn’t win a championship, but there are plenty of fans that actually enjoyed the ride to the end. Is that what you are saying? This is the end and you are seeking a bigger market to sell out to? If not what are you doing? Being a business owner, I know you can’t run a successful business without good management. And to think you, a banker lol, can manage a business sucessfully? Come on, we all know what bankers have done lately. So why do we not have a GM currently? Being cheap is not an excuse. If you can’t afford it, then let someone who can own this team. If it is about ego, then again maybe it’s time to step down. If you are truly a Suns fan, which as owner I would hope you are, then you like the rest of us want what is best for the team. Remember this cliche’ statement, ‘there is no I in TEAM’. I have not commented on what I have seen transpire in the last few days, but I could not hold it in any longer. So I ask this of you. Please don’t destroy the one thing that I so much enjoy every year!

What we expect from a BANKER!
I had been holding my breath that Steve Kerr was going to be re-sign so it would then be a domino affect of A’mare, Fry, Lou, and down the line. I was so disappointed back in the day when Jerry Colangilo sold to this snake. I have tried to support this team since then knowing who owned this team. I have been a fan since they played at “The Mad House on Mcdowell”. I am officially hanging up my shoes and done with this team until Sarver sells. I knew the results this year where in some ways just a stroke of luck. for instance, the Dudley, Richardson trade was more than just what we were told, money was a huge factor. There is many examples since Saver bought the team Kurt Tomas, this years 1st round pick, and so on.
I feel bad for ALL the great guys still on this team, if I was Steve Nash I would demand a trade, but I know that is not his style. Welcome to the new LA Clippers everyone. Sorry to all of us loyal fans that was witnessing a team like no other in the NBA. Why do you think Kobe was so upset with , because he new the Suns where a scary team and did not want to face them again. This team HAD so much potential next year if everyone returned, now they will be lucky to make the 8th spot in next years playoffs.
Well I wish everyone a great life.
