Now that Amare has opted out, the next few days are going to be nuts. But that's OK, we've been through his a few times before at the trade deadline in February, last summer around draft time, the trade deadline in 2009 and the summer when KG almost came to Phoenix.

Amare Opts Out, Now The Fun Can Begin - SB Nation Arizona
It remains unclear if the Suns offered Amare a four-year extension (for a total of five years) which would have paid him about $4m more than the five-year deal any other team could offer. If so, than Amare and his agent must think they can get another team to offer a six-year deal and put together a sign-and-trade package that entices the Suns. In the short term, those details don’t matter. In the long run the offer that Robert Sarver made to Amare will be a strong indication of how bad the Suns really wanted him to stay and what they felt his value was to the team. -
Report: Amar'e Stoudemire Opts Out of Phoenix Contract -- NBA FanHouse
"The offer isn't where it needs to be yet, but we've had a good open, cordial dialogue with the Suns,'' Walters told the Website about Stoudemire opting out of his $17.6 million deal for next season and becoming a free agent Thursday. "Like Dirk Nowitzki (of Dallas) and Paul Pierce (of Boston), we're exercising the opt out and we'll see what presents itself for Amar'e on the market.''

Phoenix Suns free-agent Channing Frye to let market set his value
"I just have to sit and wait," Frye said from his basketball camp in Hawaii. "It's a matter of being patient and looking at all the options. I'll let the market set my value. I have no idea about what it is. "Phoenix always is going to have a slight edge, because that's what I know and where I've been successful. But I have to see what else is out there." -

Another one bites the dust....I am going to laugh my ass off if LeBron stays in Cleveland or even if LeBron and Bosh go to Miami or Chicago together and leave New York and New Jersey and the Clippers out in the cold.
Oh, and don't sleep on Houston. I could totally see them making a hard push for Amare and they actually have some interesting pieces they could send back in a sign-and-trade. On the other hand, if you're the Suns do you do any deal with a Western Conference foe?

Nowitzki expected to re-sign with Mavs - NBA - Yahoo! Sports
The Mavericks fully expect to re-sign Nowitzki, who opted out of his contract this week. "They’re going through all the hoops, but I’d be shocked if he went anywhere else," a source close to the situation told Yahoo! Sports. "He’s going to get [a new contract] done before they change the rules and structure of the collective bargaining agreement. "I’d say the chances of him leaving are slim to none. Dirk is a loyal guy. He and Mark Cuban are as close as they come. It would be shocking if he talked to other teams."

F***. Unless he's signing a longer-term deal with us worth less money in this upcoming season, this doesn't help.

Tweet from John Gambadoro of KTAR:
New developments - Houston Rockets interested in Amare Stoudemire. Would likely be a sign and trade with Luis Scola and Battier if it happens
HMMM. Think hard about that one.

More from Gambadoro via tweet:
Based on my latest phone conversation it does not appear that the Amare Stoudemire will remain with the Phoenix Suns 7.40 P.M.
Amare won't settle for less than a 5 year deal, Phoenix not willing to go more then 4 years. Pat Riley flew to LA to meet with Amare tonite. 7.42 P.M.

Twitter / Paul Coro: Sources repeatedly say Sto ...
Sources repeatedly say Stoudemire wants to be in Phx. One said he'd take a 5-yr deal if Phx offered it. Maybe at less than max $.

More tweets from Gambo, who is evidently tied to Sarver:
Amare's first choice is to stay in Phoenix. But I am told he won't leave money on the table. Suns offer roughly 4/$84 - Max elsewhere 5/100. 9.00 P.M.
Plus Amare wants 6 yrs from Phx not 5-So unless Phx caves in to demands all it will take is max offer from Mia, NY, Chi or Houst (sign+trd). 9.00 P.M.

More Wojo (tweet):
The Knicks want Amar'e Stoudemire to travel to New York over the weekend, but doubtful he makes it there until Monday, source says.
A bit different from Pat Riley flying to LA to talk with Stat, isn't it? Reminds me of "David Griffin can have an interview if he wants one."
