A BSOTS State of the Union (With a lot of slant...)

Howdy all;

Just your friendly neighborhood Sun-God here to try to capture some thoughts about the current state of affairs concerning Bright Side of the Sun. All this came to me after my boss threated to give me some work coupled with reading the recent avalanche of posts advocating trading Jason Richardson. As I artfully dodged every project my boss tried to assign me, I was consistently entertained on BSOTS as posters pitched JRich for everything from a bag of basketballs to semi-comatose ballers. Indubiatly, there were some really good suggestions, and there were some that ...well...sucked. However through it all, it dawned on me how much perception affects a person's reality (Generally, perception is that I am "Big Daddy Mack", while my wife's reality is usually a little different.....)

That being said, I am now going to happily lie to you through my teeth...and believe every word of it (As most of you can probably tell by now, I use the good old rectal database quite liberally). What I wanted to say is that BSOTS has shaped my world for the last few months. When I first arrived at BSOTS several months ago (By accident, mind you...) I was a jaded veteran of the Yahoo Sports! boards and CNNSI forums. While these were slightly better than flat Pabst Blue Ribbon, they never gave me the utter work-avoiding and wife-ignoring thrill of BSOTS.

I couldn't believe my eyes...a forum devoted solely to the Phoenix Suns, and these guys could actually write complete sentences without curse words...I truly felt like I was in wonderland. I made a vow that day that my boss would never get another day of productivity out of me as long as BSOTS lives....it wasn't long before I was interacting with heavy hitters like our fearless leader Seth (I pissed off the entire Blazer Nation) Pollack, Beavis25, Eutychus, Pliny the elder, superelkman, species8472, Kiefy34, Spit_Fire, magenta. iamtrevorpaxton, Will Cantrell, and the artists formerly known as dking97 and jburning.

I also encountered some interesting personalities on the forum as well....ZonaFlash (who I have yet to fully grasp the meaning of his fanposts, but I love him anyways...), Scott Howard who is even a bigger asshole than me but yet a great writery, and Brian32 whose rage is akin to a man having his testicles tased repeatedly over a 24 hour period. All in all, these are guys that make BSOTS fun, informatiive and never boring....along with providing a guilt-free outlet to surf the internet all day at the job...

What this alludes to is that right now BSOTS has some of the most knowledgeable writers available to the sports world. When I see Seth or Alex toss out their schematics and analysis, my brain starts smoldering, but I know it is going to be good for me. Losing brain cells was never this fun before. I also love the way that edifying material can be put out in a humorous way. Will, Justin and Scott put out some serious side-splitting stuff. The banter and interaction make it almost seem like we are one big extended family, usually getting along, occasionaly bickering, arguing or boisterously discussing a topic. Every now and then, we have a family member that acts the ass, but we generally find a way to bring them back without too much of beat-down.

Bottom line is there is no other sports site I would rather be apart of and no other posters I would rather go to war against SS&R than BSOTS (Your day is coming Laker fans...). I know we are not perfect, but we have a great herd of editors, staff-writers, and guys that post willy-nilly (I plead the fifth...) in support of topics old and new. In my humble opinion BSOTS is the epitome of what a fan forum should be and I look for it to continue to grow and evolve in the future. Even though I like what I see, I solicit input of how we can continue to make this site better. One of our implied tasks as members of this forum is to support our leader in his endeavor to continually inprove this site. Hopefully Seth can take the good, toss out the bad, and get BSOTS ready for the Phoenix Suns championship in 2011/2012!

As a side note I have included a poll of what can be done to improve upon what the Suns have done this off-season...Tell me what you think!!!!!
